GostHacked Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 In other words, you don't know what you're talking about. Our government is a constitutional monarchy. Which is a form of democracy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constitutional_monarchy I fail to see how a person in another country can have ultimate say in parts of our government. Quote
Smallc Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Yes, it is a form of democracy, which is completely at odds with what you said earlier. Quote
GostHacked Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Yes, it is a form of democracy, which is completely at odds with what you said earlier. Both statements are true. Wondering how free I am being a subject of her majesty. Usually in democracies we grow beyond the need for a monarchy of any kind. Quote

g_bambino Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 We (Trudeau and QE II) signed the BNA into law in 1982. Er, no. There were many BNA acts. These (and other constitutional laws) were patriated via the proclamation of the Constitution Act 1982, which is what EIIR and PET signed on 17 April. We are pretty much a democracy. We are a democracy. Period. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Er, no. There were many BNA acts. These (and other constitutional laws) were patriated via the proclamation of the Constitution Act 1982, which is what EIIR and PET signed on 17 April. We are a democracy. Period. Correct. Quote

On Guard for Thee Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Obama earning respect? Now THAT'S funny! I think he earned a little respect today. How much longer would the US have ignored their non-white war heroes if not for the fact they elected (twice) a non white president? Quote

g_bambino Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 How much longer would the US have ignored their non-white war heroes if not for the fact they elected (twice) a non white president? Well, he's actually half "white". People really seem to (want to?) forget that. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Well, he's actually half "white". People really seem to (want to?) forget that. I don't understand your point here. Why would anyone want to forget that and who cares? He does have a white parent but he clearly has black skin, and grew up with black skin, hence, he grew up as a black child, teenager, adult etc. He married a black woman, has 2 black daughters. So to say he his 'half' white is a bit silly. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou

So to say he his 'half' white is a bit silly No, it's not. Well, if you consider the silliness of "white" and "black", then, yes, it's a bit silly. But, otherwise, no. g_bambino Posted March 20, 2014 Report Posted March 20, 2014 Can you explain it further? Obama is not "non-white". How that relates to a comment about non-"white" war heroes no longer being ignored because the president is now non-"white" is self-evident. I hope that's the end of that. Quote
