guyser Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I've read overall the families net worth is $80 million. Now how much of that is directly attributed to the show? who knows? I was in the grocery store recently and saw and Uncle Si book at the Magazine Stand. So I think they have their hands in a lot of stuff, should the show go away, I think they'd be just fine. WWWTT Posted December 20, 2013 Author Report Posted December 20, 2013 A&E is shooting itself in the foot if it sticks to its guns here. Gotta think this is a publicity stunt. Very possible! This sort of antics have happened before. And considering the graphic descriptions of sexual desires of heterosexual and homosexual males, it brings your theory further into the realm of plausibility! The reality show "Dog the bounty hunter" went through an similar controversy and came back, so I'll put the odds on the duck show airing again with greater revenues! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

Am I the slightest bit surprised they don't think much of 'fags' or 'nigrahs' or for that matter, womens libbers or Jews or anyone else not like them? Nope. As for why so many Republicans are jumping to their defense. Hey, these are their people. You wondered who bought all the BS the Republican party shovels out of their orifices every election time? kimmy Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 I agree - but the point I am making are people who try to organize boycotts in order to force A&E to dump the show ARE bullies trying to create a lynch mob. If there was a spontaneous consumer reaction then that is fine. It is the attempts at organizing/directing such a reaction which are problematic. This is a completely uninformed statement. There was no boycott demanding A&E remove Uncle Phil from the show. They did that on their own, unbidden. I know you don't oppose the network exercising their right to decide who they do or don't put on the air. The boycotts are being threatened by the "moral majority" types who are furious at A&E for suspending Uncle Phil. A group representing "46 million faith-driven consumers" is threatening to stop watching A&E and boycott A&E's sponsors. That's your boycott. These are of course the same "moral majority" types who have any number of shows and stores under boycott at any given time, so it's not like this is anything new. What's different this time is that messing with "Duck Dynasty" apparently has people mad enough to actually care about this particular boycott effort. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

People should not be surprised about the inconsistency in regulating so called moral values on t.v. Somebody got suspended here? This isn't about regulation, Rue. Neither Phil Robertson's suspension nor the current movement to boycott A&E have anything to do with regulations. It's all about Public Relations. A&E probably feared they would face a backlash like Rush Limbaugh faced after his comments about Sandra Fluke. A&E probably hoped they could head off a backlash by being proactive and taking action before bad publicity mounted. Instead they've offended a whole different segment of their audience and put their most valuable property in jeopardy. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Shady Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 A&E is outraged! Outraged! Outraged! But that isn't stopping them from running their Duck Dynasty marathon on Christmas. And it isn't stopping them from running the new season of Duck Dynasty starting January 15th. I smell a publicity stunt. Apparently there was even A&E representatives at the GQ interview a while back. Well played A&E. Well played. Quote

kimmy Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 I'm completely unequipped to judge the merits of the TV program. I've never seen it, and I only this past week discovered that the family's last name isn't actually "Duck". It sounds like the show is about a family of successful entrepreneurs and their business, which sounds like a step up from the usual reality TV fare. Shows about the plastic surgery-addicted wives of rich-guys. Shows about child beauty pageants. Shows about people who are famous for no good reason. Shows about hoarders. Shows about teenage girls from wealthy families having exorbitantly expensive birthday parties. Shows about morons who drive off cliffs in shopping carts. Honestly, Duck Dynasty sounds quite edifying compared to most of the reality TV stuff going around right now. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
