Jerry J. Fortin Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Harper and Watergate in the same sentence.....hmmmm. I think Steve is getting screwed by low level people not doing what they should be doing. I think Steve is getting buggered by mid level people not riding herd on low level subordinates. I think Steve is about to have sex with the cabinet. Quote
waldo Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 did an enemy leak the email? Might a supporter of someone demoted from the cabinet leak the email? apparently, membership has its privileges! Quote
Topaz Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 So....is Harper becoming a victim????? LOL! That's as funny as some the Tories going over to Africa and being monitors for an election!!! That's not a joke either, it true. Quote

The_Squid Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 More ridiculous fear mongering from Postmedia. Yawn. Wake me up when they learn what journalism is. So you think a list of "enemies" of the government circulated to MPs and their staff is appropriate? And an enemy means an individual or group with differing opinions to that of the government. Quote
Shady Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 More ridiculous fear mongering from Postmedia. Yawn. Wake me up when they learn what journalism is. Yep. It's as bad as the "troops are gonna be in the streets" fear mongering from the Liberals several years ago. The best part of the ad: "We did not make this up." Um, actually, that's exactly what you did! Quote
BubberMiley Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 One thing is certain is that if a Liberal government turned the PMO into a taxpayer-funded wing of the party like this government has, the CPC supporters on this site would be apoplectic with self-righteous rage. The best part of the ad: "We did not make this up." Um, actually, that's exactly what you did! That actually wouldn't surprise me if Harper tried to do that. Robo-call scandals, secret trade deals, police brutality at the G20, and now secret enemy lists. I think our government is creeping closer to fascism every day. I think there would be a lot of dissent among the soldiers however, Harper's treatment of active duty soldiers and veterans has been appalling. I think Canadian Forces are more loyal to the people of Canada than the Stephen Harper government. Quote http://www.antiharper.com

cybercoma Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 I love how they're enemies. They're not colleagues or people they work with. Politics should be about collaboration, cooperation, and compromise. For the CPC it's about friends and enemies. Quote

August1991 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) I love how they're enemies. They're not colleagues or people they work with. Politics should be about collaboration, cooperation, and compromise. For the CPC it's about friends and enemies. On the contrary, when I see collaboration, co-operation and compromise between rivals - I see collusion, cartels and some conspiracy against the public. It is far healthier to have a political system where politicians loathe each other than one where they share jokes and cigars in backrooms. I have always found Leftists incoherent when they claim that greedy corporate managers somehow manage to co-operate among themselves to deceive the public. Huh? If they're greedy, by definition they'll cheat and undercut each other. And the public will benefit from this increased price competition. As to an "enemies list", the mere use of the term is indicative of why the Conservatives have decided who they will speak to, and who they will ignore. I think that it's fair to say that a federal Conservative politician has absolutely nothing to gain by giving an interview, for example, to the CBC or Radio-Canada. The vast majority of CBC listeners will never vote Tory and the CBC journalist merely wants to get a "money quote". For a Conservative politician, it's all downside risk. Hence, I can understand why the CBC/Radio-Canada would be on a list of media outlets to avoid. ----- With all that said, the right must start to think in broader terms. Thatcher was hated on the Left because she was not afraid to state simple truths in whatever venue. Edited July 18, 2013 by August1991 Quote
bleeding heart Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 . Thatcher was hated on the Left because she was not afraid to state simple truths in whatever venue. Yeah...there were simply no other reasons. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
August1991 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 If Harper is channeling Nixon, it's through the famous phrase: "I gave them a sword." When Harper approved the cheque to Duffy, it was like Nixon approving the plumbers unit in the White House. Both had to deny and cover-up any involvement. Harper has yet to be caught; Nixon was. To be clear, Harper merely approved paying off a useful appointee/journalist with outside money. (Duffy surely brought in far more to the Conservative Party than the paltry $90,000.) Nixon created a full-scale intelligence team (however incompetent) to break into offices of rivals. If Harper falls, it's because he gave "them" a sword. And that's another similarity: the "them" is the media, journalists, teachers, so-called intellectuals. While Nixon was smarter than any of them, they hated him. In this age, it's easier for Harper to go over heads and speak directly to people than it was possible for Nixon. Quote
August1991 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 Yeah...there were simply no other reasons. Oh, there were many other reasons. But fundamentally, I suspect the Left hated Thatcher because she could speak in difficult venues, tell the truth, and voters - who normally would have been conned by sloppy Leftist gibberish - understood her.
