Michael Hardner Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 It's weird how political results end up causing one side to decry "stupidity" while the other to staste that the voters are "waking up". Wild Bill Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Perhaps it has something to do with the thread title. Ah! I get it! I had the wrong context. I was thinking it was about the by-elections in Ontario. I should have realized it encompassed the federal government and virtually anything that a left wing voter might disagree with... No, the context seems pretty much restricted to voters in Ontario who seem to swing both ways, with apparently stupid results. The Voters did not suffer fools in these by elections. Perhaps you need to recognise that. Quote
TheNewTeddy Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 Mike Harris, upon taking government, reduced welfare so far, that a suggested food budget took the butter off the bread and the sauce off the pasta. THAT is what is disgusting. The fact that Hudak won't commit to freezing (or better yet, increasing) support for the truly needy is why he is a true danger. Ford did not cut support to the needy. Harper did not cut support to the needy. Hudak however wants to. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!

WWWTT It NEVER happens in the private sector. (lol) It's happens everywhere, only ideologues with an agenda push it. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. MiddleClassCentrist Posted September 8, 2012 Report Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Ontario has lots of problems, depending on the outlook you take, the solutions come down to either making poor people pay more, making wealthy pay more, or making the middle class pay. All the while reducing services. Since the wealthy control the system and own the propaganda machines of the main stream media, they aren't going to pay until the quality of life lowers to the point of another general strike. The poor can't really protect themselves but, it not currently popular policy to make them pay, so they aren't going to pay. The middle class can't really protect themselves and do have a bit of spare money, we are the ones paying to keep this system that puts more and more money into the hands of a few going while increasingly needing to support more people at the bottom.
