Quite possibly guyser. But some of the media coverage coming out of Toronto makes me glad I don't live there.

Four dailies, (actually 6 or more) means they need to get readers somehow.

The Star does it with Ford stuff.

The Sun does it with fluff girly pics.

The Post does it slagging the Star.

The Globe and Mail does it....um....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That's the funniest part. If Dale shows up, then all outlets will be blocked and Ford will feel some juicy media backlash.

I can't wait!

I hope the other media types throw that guy out if he shows up. The star is getting what it deserves, we do not need that british tabloid shit here. And how can ford be in trouble for the phone, the reporter gave it to him, By what I heard ford yelled at the guy and he gave him the camera and phone and ran away. And why did he run away, because he knew he had been caught in a embarressing situation. Why has the left become so hateful. Cons have put up for years with chretien at the helm, dalton, millar, and the cons never acted in such a pathetic manner, we just waited for the elections to show our displeasure. Just by reading the comments here, the left in this country has some serious growing up to do.

Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Ooops...the neighbour now has "no comment" when asked if Dale was standing on the cinder blocks. Fortunately for Ford, the Star says it's not interested in pressing charges for his assault and phone theft.

Define attack. He never laid a hand on Mr. Dale. He's verbally accosted him but that's not against the law.

This issue is about perception. No reason for the reporter to be where he was, for the purpose he said he was there.

The assumption is that he was looking into Ford's home paparazzi style to see if he could unearth something. No way to prove that, unless there's a photo on his phone that indicates that's what he was doing.

I doubt any charges will be filed either way. It's a battle of public opinion more than a legal battle.

It's not perception. Read section 265.1.b of the criminal code of Canada... It was an assault. He needn't have "laid a hand on Mr. Dale" to catch that charge.

There is obviously a pissing contest going on between Ford and the Star. Look elsewhere if you want objectivity because you won't get it from either one.

I don't think reporting on a land transaction or attacking a reporter for reporting on it can be defined as "left" or "right" issues at all.

The citizens of Toronto have every right to know what public property may be sold off, to whom and why, and the media have a responsibility to keep them informed of what's being done with our public assets.

Not according to the fascist right Ford supporters on here they don't.

They want all of the media (unless it's their beloved Sun propaganda machine) silenced and not permitted to investigate things that reveal truths.

If Rob Ford doesn't want the media around, he should get out of politics.

Now there's a solution! :D

Exactly...

“This is all about who you represent,” Mr. Dewar (NDP) said. “We’re (NDP) talking about representing the interests of working people and everyday Canadians and they [the Conservatives] are about representing the fund managers who come in and fleece our companies and our country.

You guys are still talking about this?

Nope. Judging from the date-stamps on the posts, it ran its course a few days ago.

As I've said, I really don't much care what happens in the self-styled centre of the universe. Ford might be a vapid idiot. I don't really know. But if he is, well, he's in good company among his fellow municipal politicians, in Toronto and elsewhere. He clearly has a temper and gets emotional. Good. I kind of like him for that. It makes him human. That sets him far apart from the blow-dried, bland, whey faced political careerists out there. Case in point, Ottawa's mayor. He's a professional politicians who's never had an original thought in his life, and never says anything, takes any position, makes any decision without running it past the spin doctors and media analysts. Every word out of his mouth is written by someone else, then analyzed to ensure lack of offensiveness, then rehearsed before a mirror before he's ever set out in front of the media by his expert handlers.

Gee, kind of like Dalton McGuinty, come to think of it: another bland nobody with no ideas, vision or brains.

Actually, Ford hardly ever pens his mouth in public except to utter bland, focus-grouped slogans about "stopping the gravy train" or "respecting taxpayers." He hardly ever speaks his mind because when he does, it simply exposes him as a bland, somewhat intellectually challenged lump.

So you got a guy who actually says what he thinks, and maybe he is a bit of a blowhard, but I'd still trade you for the guy in my town.

I'd take that trade and run with it.

Private/public real estate company (a bank) i "deal with" conducted a poll ONLY in 416 and 57 percent support Rob Ford.. out of 5,000 people (thats more than a Harris poll...) A poll for indicators of direction for Toronto in 2013-15.. The company upped its direction..

Its amazing what a poll involving a larger pool will show... DAMN you FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Based on Menzies position vis Dale, he (Menzies) should have been punched.

From the clip I heard of the radio show, Menzies didn't say that Dale should have been punched. He said that, he thought the Star sent their wimpiest reporter to Ford's house, hoping he would get punched.

Had Ford decked Dale, that would have made the Star's day.

So ... Menzies got a request not to take pictures of certain people and then - in front of his 9 year old son - refused, raised his camera and took more pictures of them.

Isn't that just special. What a role model!

And when Ford demands someone stop taking pics on public property, he's right?

Do these dumbasses even try to have a defensible position?

At night? And the neighbor saw him standing on some cinderblocks to get a better view into the mayor's yard.

Well this is fun. From the National Post picture.. it shows the Cinder Blocks Apart from the NIGHT OF THE ENCOUNTER....

And from the Rob Ford Press conference.. they are stacked....

And the neighbor ( who is no longer speaking to the media) claimed to have seen Dale standing on Stacked blocks seen in the latter picture from his 2nd story....

So the woman punching him in the face was justifiable? He was in Dundas Square for Jebus' sake!
