No, but I do remember PM Martin begging Bush for contracts in Iraq.

He had a good reason, there were many Montreal ad agencies that really needed some more cash.He

couldn't just abandon them.

Science too hard for you? Try religion!

There's one item both Bush and Cheney have to live with and they can't change.... they were call up to defend their country and Cheney stayed in school to avoid it and Bush had Bush sr. calls favours in from friends in the military to help Bush get out of the military and yet, they sent others to their deaths or come back with many health issues. Cowards.

Nope....President Bush served as a fighter interceptor pilot in the Texas Air National Guard and VP Cheney served as the Secretary of Defense. President Clinton and VP Biden, also "warmongers", didn't serve at all.

If anything chretien should have been charged with putting delaire in charge of rwanda. Or at least sent him to belgium to face trial.

Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

Yes and apparently Bush has a pretty lousy record as a pilot, and boy it must have been dangerous flying around Texas. As far as Cheney's speech which is I think what this thread was supposed to be about, all I can say is who would want to listen to him anyway. And according to the ICC, both he and Bush are war criminals.

Lots of people in Alberta wanted to listen, that's who.

How they "feel" doesn't mean a damn thing in court. Put Chretien on trial first.

Chretien had the good sense to thimb his nose at Bush and Cheney re: Iraq, therefore he won't be on the docket with them. I don't think Chretien has any trouble going anywhere if he wants to go make a speech.

He (and his family) really like to travel to the U.S. for health care, plus no ICC worries because the U.S. never ratified the treaty. Chretien committed illegal "crimes against the peace" (Kosovo War), but this was before the ICC had jurisdiction. Chretien is an unindicted co-conspirator for "war crimes", yet he walks free in Canada.

President Clinton..., didn't serve at all.

Clinton didn't serve as commander in chief?

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

Nope sorry, wrong again (according to your own values), Clinton served as the head of the US military!(commander in chief) (just as any other US president, and many other leaders)

No, he was elected by the voters. Big difference...

Well then with that logic, all memebers of NATO except Greece, are "unindicted co conspirators". Plus there was a slaughter going on there so NATO decided to attempt to end it. There are reasons why they remain unindicted and will remain so.

That's right....the NATO campaign did not have UN approval....it was..."illegal". At least the US/UK had legal continuing resolutions for the invasion of Iraq stemming from the first Gulf War.

Of course the US/UK and you try to argue the resolution from the first GW carried over. Most other legal opinions, including the UN and the ICC say otherwise. Hence the findings against your namesakes.

Many others say otherwise. Canada had the chance to fulfill its ICC treaty obligations and failed. Shame....

Ya and then he got to appoint whomever he wanted!

Just exactly who did Cheney get appointed by?

Oh ya, someone who was elected!

I honestly dont know why people are whining about this... The world is a community of sorts, and when you do abhorrent things you cant expect to be given a soap box everywhere you want one.

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

In other words you are saying we should have arrested Bush here in Canada.

Is that not a treaty requirement as implemented by Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act ? If so, why did Canada not "arrest" Bush or Cheney ?

You'll have to refer that question to the RCMP.

No, I am referring it to you, if you are advocating that VP Cheney be arrested while in Canada. Did you call the RCMP ? If you had, they would have probably told you that their concern is for Cheney's safety and security. Ironic...huh ?

Oh, I imagine the RCMP are well aware of either Bush or Cheney's travels in this country without me calling them. If it were up to me I'd have sent them both to the Hague.
