bush_cheney2004 Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 Oh, I imagine the RCMP are well aware of either Bush or Cheney's travels in this country without me calling them. If it were up to me I'd have sent them both to the Hague. See...that's the thing..it is not up to you. Based on your own posts here, you actually took advantage of the decisions that Bush and Cheney made while in office for your own personal gain, no ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

The UN was in Iraq directly and indirectly because of Bush and previous American administrations. Ditto any activities in Afghanistan. You even got to watch Fox News. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

I only participated in the legal stuff, which is why I don't have to worry about the ICC like Bush, Cheney, Rmusfeld, etc do. And yes, Fox news often provided quite the hilarity at breakfast. Quote

I think you can rationalize that in your mind, but what was "legal" or "illegal" for Iraq (and Afghanistan) will be argued for years to come. The fact is that you would not have been in Iraq were it not for US/UK actions, actions which stemmed from those nation's leaders. Canada was not going to intervene by itself. And this is the exact same reason why Bush, Cheney, Blair, Rumsfeld, etc. will never face trial for "war crimes". Edited April 12, 2014 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

I was supporting the UN there in it's attempt to ward off an illegal war. And you may argue it for years to come, the ICC has already ended it's discussion. And you are probably right, they will probably never have to face up to their crimes. Quote

I was supporting the UN there in it's attempt to ward off an illegal war. If that's what the UN was attempting, then it completely failed. What the UN actually did was approve the US and UK as occupation forces. And you may argue it for years to come, the ICC has already ended it's discussion. And you are probably right, they will probably never have to face up to their crimes. Then by your own admission, Canada has failed to live up to the treaty. Why ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Maybe because we didn't want to get bombed like Iraq. Or maybe because we didn't want to harm a longstanding friendship between nations over a couple of idiots. Quote

I see...so in general we can say that Canada's own self interest rises above any concerns over indicted "war criminals". This is just as I would expect...all is well with the world. I agree....getting a cross border pipeline approved is far more important, and Dick Cheney can certainly help in that department. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

I'm not so sure Cheney can help anybody do anything anymore. However my personal preference regarding pipelines is the one from Alberta to New Brunswick. That way the few permanent jobs that will be created will go to Canadians and we can stop importing oil from Saudi to fire up the east coast. Quote

Assad comes to mind. Quote

A consulting firm whose principals include Mary Cheney, daughter of Dick Cheney, appears responsible for the bulk of the near-record breaking number of comments received by the State Department in recent weeks in favor of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline Yeah I saw her on Fox news one time feigning as an independant talking head discussing a speech about Gitmo made by her father. I assume the word "credibility" has some sort of meaning to you? Apparently she nor Fox news seems to understand the concept. But like I say, it is funny to watch, when it's all there is, in a morbid sort of way. Quote

Perhaps the larger point escaped you....the Cheneys are directly and indirectly influencing the U.S. decision for approval of the cross border Keystone XL pipeline. And I am certain that Dick Cheney himself has a longer history for such resource development in both nations, hence his popularity for some in Alberta. Not too shabby for a "war criminal".
