Shady Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 Perhaps we should have just let them and Gaddafi kill eachother. Seeing this, after also watching the insanity of the Afghan's reacting to burning paper like rabid monkeys, it's hard to imagine the Middle East, and especially Islam integrating into the civilized world any time soon. Here are the highlights: * Headstones torn down and crucifixes smashed with hammers by extremists * More than 150 graves of British serviceman systematically desecrated * Attack carried out over two days with footage posted online Link Apparently the grave of a Canadian pilot was also destroyed. I think if I hear the concocted, Orwellian term "Arab Spring" again, I'm going to puke. Quote

msj Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 This story gets a big meh, like another poster already stated. There's a reason why war is a pretty bad thing. This is just another reminder. Like it or not, this type of thing goes on in every conflict. Wonder who said this about those US troops when they were caught desecrating dead bodies recently? Oh, right. olpfan1 Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 Wonder who said this about those US troops when they were caught desecrating dead bodies recently? Oh, right. Although both acts are reprehensible I think there is a slight difference between pissing on war monuments and breaking them to pissing on dead bodies Quote
msj Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 Although both acts are reprehensible I think there is a slight difference between pissing on war monuments and breaking them to pissing on dead bodies Yes clearly a "slight" difference: both are inanimate objects. Topaz Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 So maybe IF Gaddafi did go after these rebels, we can kinda understand why. While searching the net, I came across a video of these rebels beheading a man from the Middle-East. It was horrible but as a North American, it really opens one eyes to what some people in world do and what others suffer from. I really think we should have stayed out of the Middle-East and I feel the same way about Israel. The former PM or Prez of Israel was on The View last week, and one got the idea, they are going in to Iran, even if other countries don't agree. So with Israel with nukes, this spring is a good time to stay on this side of the Atlantic. Quote

Boges Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) WW1 is the most respected war, Afghanistan is not Actually most would consider WW1 a giant waste of time. I'm assuming you meant WW2. I would say this. Why would you expect people in modern-day Libya to give two flying effs about a tug-of-war between the UK and Germany in the early 40's? It's not as if Monty or Rommel were trying to liberate the people of Libya. Germany was trying to get at the Saudi Oil fields and the Suez Canal and the British were trying to stop them. Libya and Egypt was just the battlefield. I've always wondered what the people of Bengazi thought about having their colonial overlords changed 6 times in like 3 years and did they pick sides? Sa'adoni Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 (edited) So Gaddaffi was ousted by Canadian bombs, and the people left behind.... doing what Gaddaffi didn't... http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2012/03/05/libya-canadian-graves.html doesn't it feel great to be the minister of defence creating a nation by overthrow of Gaddaffi and puttig people that have no regard for what even Gaddaffi respected. The attrocities and torture happening there all thanks to the minister of defence including these vandalisms. Look at all the good you have done Mr. MacKay. The disconnect seems to still be there.. see the vieled support for the act by the NTC as they referenced religion whe this has to do with vandalized headstones..
