William Ashley
So we know how militant the Americans are invading ever god knows inch of land that exists on this planet, can they really be trusted with nuclear technology even if it is just for producing energy? What if they make a bomb with it? What if they use that bomb against another country? Surely we must consider military options to insure that nuclear weapons arn't made and used against other humans. Maybe you should have thought about the US using nuclear bombs before selling them all that uranium. LOL! BC, just so happens the story about the US first nukes was on the "military" channel and ALL substance to make the bomb came from Oak Ridge Tenn. and Hamford Oregon and between 100,000-200,000 died by the two bombs dropped. That's not true....the uranium ore for Fat Man and Little Boy came from Canada and The Belgian Congo: Canada supplied the American military with uranium from the Port Radium mine in the Northwest Territories. In addition, uranium ore concentrates from the Congo were found in a warehouse on Long Island, stored there by its Belgian owners for safekeeping. All of this uranium was refined at Port Hope, Ontario. Some of it was processed directly into weapons-usable material -- highly enriched uranium for the Hiroshima bomb -- at a top-secret enrichment facility covering several acres of land near Oak Ridge, Tennessee. http://www.ccnr.org/myth_1.html What you may have meant is that the refined uranium was "enriched" in Tennessee. Throughout the Cold War, Canada would go on to supply the uranium needed for thousands of American and British nuclear weapons. As always in Canada, the French were shut out and had to find its own supply! Also, previous developments in Montreal contributed significantly to the Allied war effort to develop nuclear weapons. Very true, and I think justifiably, however the Germans were working on 'it' and we know their history of new technological weaponry usage. Post To The Left
Very true, and I think justifiably, however the Germans were working on 'it' and we know their history of new technological weaponry usage. So were the Japanese, who had two separate nuclear programs. The Americans even thought they tested a bomb in Korea as they retreated against the Russians. DogOnPorch
The Japanese freely used biological warfare vs the Chinese causing over half a million dead civilians, soldiers and prisoners over the course of the war. Overall, the Japanese killed more Chinese civilians than the the Holocaust killed Jews and Russian POWs...in various gruesome ways from mere stabbings on up. Nearly the entire adult female population of Korea were turned into sex slaves and Allied soldiers were marched to their deaths enmasse wherever the Japanese enjoyed victory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_731 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unit_1644 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bataan_Death_March http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandakan_Death_Marches http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Hong_Kong http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanking_Massacre http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_crimes But, yeah...the US dropped two A-Bombs putting an end to all that. For shame...

DogOnPorch
Great minds think alike? Fools seldom differ? I wouldn't want to be the volunteer squad sent to stop the Soviet Mech division coming down the road with a Davy Crockett. But, I bet they thought the few brave lads were worth it to prevent breakthrough. Edited January 31, 2012 by DogOnPorch

DogOnPorch
Well, you gotta figure the life expectancy of a B-52 crew circa 1960 would have been...errr...not so good. Probably no base to come home to, either; turned to glass by several 3mt Soviet devices. Thus all those MITO practice sessions. B-47s would have had a much better time. But even with such incredible, Earth blasting power clearly in its hand, the US did not use it to destroy the Soviets before they had a proper delivery system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiUdB998CmM Edited January 31, 2012 by DogOnPorch
