Black Dog Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 The Leafs keep this up an Connor McDavid could be a possibility. The Oil needs stop being selfish and start winning a few games. They've been better under Nelson (though I'm leery of giving him much credit). I don't think anyone's catching Buffalo, especially when they ditch more assets at the deadline. Quote

The Leafs are setting their sights on Buffalo and Edmonton. I'm going to see the Edmonton - Leaf game this Saturday. Though I never thought it would be important game. I wonder if both teams will pull their goalie in the first. The funny part about watching the Leafs, is how they try to explain each loss afterwards. "Hitting bottom isn't a weekend retreat. They are not trying to lose, they just are not very good. But I concede they are guppies compared to the Leafs awesome record of the last 47 years. overthere Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 In the meantime, every Leafs owner since Ballard has made scandalous amounts of cash by providing a horrible product to Leafs fans. Maybe they are on to something there. What else can we sell to them? I know where I can get warehouses full of Chia pets and Pet Rocks for really cheap. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
The_Squid Posted February 7, 2015 Report Posted February 7, 2015 How does a team struggling to score goals boost their stats and confidence a little bit? Play the Leafs!!! 4-1 NJ wins... Quote

PrimeNumber Posted February 9, 2015 Report Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Go to Arizona, you can see most Canadian teams play the Coyotes for under $60. Some upper deck seats go as low as $8. If you can get a cheap flight, might end up costing you less to see the leafs in Arizona then in Toronto. Of course there will be a far different atmosphere. Still more Leafs fans than Coyotes fans at Leafs @ Coyotes games though. Edited February 9, 2015 by PrimeNumber Quote “Be like water making its way through cracks. overthere Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 The Oilers will be in their new $600 million arena in late 2016. The managment has been sending surveys to season ticket holders on possible scenarios for transferring season ticket rights to the new barn. They've also laid out a range of possible prices for those seats, nearly all of which involve substantial price hikes. You have to wonder at the extreme balls required for that, at this time. Or does it just seem so? No, there are 14,000 season ticket holders in Edmonton for years and none of them bought them so they could go to one game, when the Leafs are in town. Leafs fans do pay goofy prices- I'be heard as much as $1k each in Edmonton - to watch two awful teams. There are so very many economic refugees from Toronto in Calgary and Edmonton it is no surprise they attend games. Ottawa dn Buffalos they can drive. Winnipeg- you had it right. Nobody goes there voluntarily. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

The_Squid Posted February 13, 2015 Report Posted February 13, 2015 Kessel got a -4 playing only 12 minutes yesterday. That takes some serious skill. 7 years remaining @ $8mil per year. Will anyone trade for Kessel? Are the Leafs stuck with him for 7 more years? That would be pretty funny actually.... I'm sure he has a 'no-trade' clause, so it won't be to a lesser team either. Quote

That would be pretty funny actually.... I think lots would trade for him. Love him or hate him, he is a proven scorer. How many others in the last 5 years have more goals ? 3 ? If Leafs move no one...uh oh. If they move all around and keep Phil for scoring? Ok with me. I'm sure he has a 'no-trade' clause, so it won't be to a lesser team either.Limited No Trade clause. Quote

He is often a liability.Thats why i say build a team where he doesnt have to do too much on D He is 9th in goals if you add up the past 3 seasons...Yup, top 10. Hard to get any top scorers anytime. I have to think someone making a run at the cup 'may' have a chance to get him, I wouldnt be too sad to see him go.The price should be pretty good too. Leafs dont have much leverage anywhere with anyone. Quote

Michael Hardner Posted February 14, 2015 Report Posted February 14, 2015 Columbus Blue Jackets passed them in the standings yesterday. Up next in the passing lane is Carolina, at 5 points back and 3 games in hand. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Michael Hardner Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/maple-leafs-deal-franson-santorelli-to-predators/ The rebuilding of the Toronto Maple Leafs has begun. The Leafs traded defenceman Cody Franson and forward Mike Santorelli on Sunday to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a first-round pick, prospect Brendan Leipsic and soon-to-be-free-agent centre Olli Jokinen. Franson was Toronto’s best trade chip ahead of the March 2 deadline as he’s a pending unrestricted free agent. The right-handed-shooting blue-liner topped the rental market around the NHL. As ever, the fun is in the comments: Jude the Obscure Rank 1840 Reading a lot of the comments have made me realize that many Leafs fans must have voted for Ford. The intelligence level is in the minus here. We got rid of two rentals for a prospect and pick, that's a good deal. Not one insider thought Franson was going for a first. And Jokinen is a salary dump. A rebuild takes longer than a few trades people. We need to invite these people over here Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
PrimeNumber Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I think once the deadline gets closer we will see a ton of deals from Buffalo, Arizona, Toronto, New Jersey and Carolina. All of them are looking to improve on their chances of playing poorly while maintaining effort. Buffalo seems to have anti-tank guns though. It's going to be pretty hard to "catch" up to them. I'd like to see McDavid go to Buffalo or Toronto, given that he's from the area and being closer to family and friends might help his development. I like the thought of Eichel going to New Jersey that team needs some youth and fast plus again he won't be that far from his hometown. I imagine NJ trades Jagr at the deadline so they should get a prospect in return, adding Eichel to the mix can really turn this team around given the experience they have on the roster. Edmonton could use Hanifin the most, they tried the offence first technique and it hasn't worked for them. They should be trying to build from the defence forward now. Hanifin is NHL ready and next year Nurse will be on the roster full time I think so as long as they find a goalie. They could be sporting a better team. Auston Matthews is the highest rated prospect in next years draft and I hope he goes to Arizona which is why I'm hoping Arizona picks out of the top 3 this year. The kid if from Arizona and could really do wonders for the game in that area. I think more people would go to games to see the hometown hero. That's just my $0.02.
