I cant get through an episode of Spartacus. Ive tried a few times. Rome was much better.

Spartacus is a TV show in the spirit of the movie 300. Gratuitous violence and lots of sex but I still find time to care about the characters they portray.

The show also makes you care about the antagonists.

There was a cool moral dilemma Spartacus had to tackle when another Gladiator captured his arch-enemies pregnant wife but he refused to kill her because it was without honour.

It's not everyone's cup of tea but if you liked 300 and Game of Thrones, I don't see how you wouldn't like Spartacus.

Walking Dead is a fun show (subtracting about half of last season...what the hell is wrong with these people???)

But I thinkk BE is far superior, in terms of the writing, acting, etc.

So...I guess watch Walking Dead, and tape Boardwalk Empire. If I gotta use the facilities, it's better to miss a minute of WD.

Right now you got the same problem with a show like Breaking Bad and two other shows (True Blood and The Newsroom) on HBO.

HBO shows have no commercials so it's always better to watch them live and tape the AMC show and f0ast forward through the ads. (Don't tell Bubber Miley)

That's why I still haven't watch The Season 5 premiere of Breaking Bad because I didn't want to wait up until 10 for a show that likely has lots of ads. I'll watch it tonight.

This thread has become the defacto Walking Dead thread BTW.

No one wants to talk about Boardwalk Empires, It's a great show though. Season 3 starts in September. Not sure I like Jimmy Darmody being killed at the end of last season though. I've watched previews and apparently this season fast forwards 2 years from the death of Jimmy.

I agree, and I have no idea why it isn't more popular. It's almost unbelievably good.

Yeah, a great character, and along with Nucky and Margaret, the show's actual heart. I was amazed they'd kill him off.

One of the better characters IMHO in the series is Richard Harrow, the WW1 vet with half a face. Apparently he's taken on protecting Jimmy's Red-headed MILF and his son in this season.

The third season of BE is about 4 episodes in.

I'm really enjoying it.

This Rosetti guy is a pretty merciless antagonist. I can't really see this dispute between him and Nucky ending without a huge gun fight.

Nucky killing the kid that was robbing him was pretty bad ass. It's actually a pretty humane way of executing someone. Making them think they'll be fine then BANG! it's over. A lot better than setting an execution date and letting the person countdown their time on earth.

Walking Dead starts up again this Sunday. B)

Well I definitely watched Walking Dead and taped Boardwalk Empires last night.

Not sure how anyone can criticize last night's episode of Walking Dead. Wall to Wall zombie killing and even a main character getting bit and having a leg amputated.

As a fan of the comics I like to see nods to the storyline of the comics even though much of what happens is vastly different. Though there are no Riot Gear Zombies in the comic, Riot Gear does play a factor in the comic. So does the idea of amputating limbs to keep people from turning into Walkers.

Very grim thought of a stillborn zombie fetus trying to eat its way out Lori's belly. sad.png

I thought Scott Wilson was Robert Loggia at first...scary.

You mean the guy who plays Generals and Football coaches in movies? A Man's man like that wouldn't let a sleeping zombie chew on his leg. The only thing I recognize Scott Wilson from is CSI, he was Catherine's Casino owning, mob-connected father.

I watched a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire, and I usually like historical series' if they're relatively faithful to historical accuracy; but for some reason I couldn't get excited enough about this series to keep watching.

On the other hand, I watched some of the first season episodes of Walking Dead and was hooked....for awhile. After I quit subscribing to Netflix (mostly because of limited content and technical glitches) I forgot about the series until I recently started getting AMC. I'm still catching up on season 2, so I haven't looked at the new third season episodes yet.

They're similar actors. Loggia played Feech LaManna on the Sopranos.

Some people find this series boring. It's definitely a slow burn. But when it gets exciting, it gets really exciting. And rather brutal. I haven't seen violence, like I've seen in this show, in any show. True Blood is violent, but it's cartoonish violence, same with Walking Dead. This is realistic violence. The worst from last season was when a gangster kills a woman lying naked on the ground (very shocking scene)

The second season was very hit and miss. Once they reach the farm, the show gets very annoying. There were episode that made me rather angry at the end, thinking "WTF was That!!!"

The second season does end on a rather high-note and though the third season just started last week, it appears to be picking up right from where it left off.

Personally, i love the show, but I do get why some people have trouble getting enthused.

Yes, I agree, it was moving into tedious territory. Luckly it picked up, and i hope that continues.
