There is no good reason that I have seen so far, that this war needs to happen.

$130,000,000 CND for new bombs to be used in Libya, for humanitarian reasons.

Strikes me as a good reason.

The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.

Might it not be somewhat problematic if the UN baldly puts out "hits" on state rulers?

Why? It was historicaly a honourable thing for the king to be in the first line. And, just like in the chess, to aim preferably at the king.

I search the web as many people do and I found this article about why NATO is in Libya and I found its the same reasons as Iraq. Libya has the largest oil reserves in Africa and the 9th in the world. US oil companies have been there for a while. What changed was when Qaddafi met with CEO of Conocophillips where he threaten to expel the US oil companies and reduced the oil products. It doesn't take little imaginations to know what he oil companies would do. In 2009, Qaddafi, suggested that Libyan and other countries exporting oil should come together and nationalize the oil industry because of falling prices. The articles goes on to say that he opening of a civil war in Libya, it gave the US and NATO a perfect pretext to overthrow and replace the government with a more friendly client regime. Again, it seems another war, for the greed of oil companies and where Libya civilians are being killed. Qaddafi, himself has lost a son and grandchildren for what. Yes, I believe the five nation involve will kill him and then I hope these nations are taken to the International court for war crimes. http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=25255

Who is the leader of Canada? Jack, no, Rae,no, Harper by 40% so he's the guy.

Really, so just Harper gets tried for war crimes? Other members of the government that also agreed to the policy get off?

Since 9/11 and all the stuff that been out there are far as what is true and what is false, we have to question everything today that leaders tells us and pay close attention to this. Martin said he went to Libya for the Canadian oil companies, he also said something about Libya being part of the GLOBAL oil industry, Libya didn't want that, they want their own and so just like other oil countries who don't go along with the US, its regime change.

This war is one big pile of bullshit! Of course it's primarily for oil interests, not "human rights". Crock of the year.

Another Mossadegh-style coup, but this time not very covert. Hell shall rain down on Gaddafi!!...(hell costs about $100,000 per smart bomb btw, fantastic for business in the defense industry).

Western governments seem to learn nothing. Doing their imperialistic dance in Muslim countries, inspiring even more Muslim civilians towards radical Islamism and giving great reasons for anti-western sentiment among future governments of Libya (because as we all know, if this pro-West rebel group forms the new government they are of course going to be in power forever, right?). I hope they do nationalize their oil, just to give our governments the finger. Heck, i hope Canada nationalizes their oil just piss everyone off.

The conflict should be over soon. Congress is suing the President for violating the war powers act. This could get pretty interesting.

You want Jack Layton tried for war crimes?

Jack abd the NDP voted to extend the mission. He is as guilty or as innocent as the rest.

First of all I don't hate Harper, I don't think he's a good PM because he has his own personal agenda for Canada, secondly, the US had a good relationship with Libya and made peace with them, then it seems all of a sudden they are bombing the country.

It gets tiresome hearing about harper's agenda, either the hidden one or anyone, but nobody ever complained about the biggest hidden agenda ever played on this country by trudeau and we are still paying for it, So really topaz, you are as misguided as the former page. And I hope eventually you will realize the great PM we have right now. Us cons put up with chretiens agenda for 13 years and IMO the cons never showed the hatred for him as the left does for harper. All you have to go on ,ius your memories of the (real) attack ads from the 90's on harper that pretty well told everyone he was the devils son. But yet when people are asked what is so evil , all they say is G/20 and the prorouging of parliment, so either put up about this so called hidden agenda are STFU about it.

Kind of... the point avoids the issue that we could have targeted and killed Gaddafi directly if we wanted to right in the first day or few days of the operation.

The world in general sort of frowns on out and out assassinations. Well, maybe excepting a certain AQ head.

The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.

Everyone one knows the endgame. They should just pull a bin Laden and off the guy. Cut this B.S. Would save lots of lives and money.

Which begs the question, if that is their plan, why didn't they. The obvious answer is the supposition is incorrect....that it is not their plan.

It little facts like this that really bothers conspiracy theorists...

....nevermind the dithering that took place leading up to the no fly zone mandate....all done in the open and with then participation of all the players...and very little conscensus....

Yet we are asked to believe there is a conspiracy....

Did they vote to extend the mission before or after the parameters changed from preventing the slaughter of innocent civilians to overthrowing the standing government? You must be aware that it was the "rebels" that turned down a cease-fire. Do we even know anything about who we are supporting and recognizing as the new government?

No, what if there are consequences to flying in Bin Laden-style and offing the guy. Or it just ain't that easy...

They've certainly tried hard to kill the guy from the air.

The vote was this week. Please point me to where the mission has changed, no pointing at toasters.

So you think flying into Pakistan is easier than pond hopping to Tripoli?

You do realize when the rebellion began, there was no consensus to do anything, right?

Probably not...

So if it is entirely about oil....

Then there would be no war at all.

Many foreign firms were in Libya already....Libya was actively selling to Europe, primarily to Italy..so why the need to fight?

On the other hand, if it is entirley about oil, why is Suncor pulling out?

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-investor/suncor-to-stay-out-of-libya-while-gadhafi-in-charge/article2060415/

Suncor Energy Inc. (SU-T37.660.300.80%) is siding with international efforts to oust Libya’s Colonel Moammar Gadhafi, vowing to suspend operations in the war-torn country as long as the dictator holds power.

Facts are uncomfortable to creationists and conspiracy theorists alike.
