The Tories were unable to sell it back in the 90's so I don't know if the Liberals will have some better luck. I hope so. Finally the provincial Liberals are beginning to see the light and want to sell things off and make government smaller and to do what? That's right save money. Facing a $24.7-billion deficit, the largest in the province's history, the government has hired two banks to review assets such as Hydro One and the LBCO. Someone buys the LCBO, lays off all the unionized workers and restructures. Hiring people to work for it at $14/hr + benefits to start instead of $30. Owner has doubled his profits and people still have an income they can live off of. I wonder if we're going to hear the socialists attacking the Ontario Liberals for their own massive debt. They blasted Harpers Tories over the debt that all parties agreed to spend. So now it's very funny how quiet they are when the Ontario Liberals have a massive debt of their own. The LCBO brings in more tax dollars and offers more selection for the lowest price than ANY private booze palace could EVER DREAM OF. One of the things that endears me to you is your proven ability not to learn anything> I have already pointed out that LCBO clerks don't make 30 and hour and the starting wage is already around 15 and hour. Conservatives wanted to privatize it in the 80s and then again in the 90s and the Liberals talked it up in the 80s and then Flaherty spouted off selling it during his leadership run. Now the Liberals are back at it again. The Spirit lobbiests are looking to put McGuinty into their rear pocket. Odds that McGuinty will sell out are pretty good. Nor do I see why they would care...in either scenario. If the LCBo is to be sold, I have no doubt it would still be the Government Crown doing the buying (of the product) and the retail arm/distribution would be in the hands of private capital. Either way, the manufacturer still sells directly to the province and the royalties from sales still go to the public purse as it does in Alberta. How can so called governement sell what in absolute truth never belonged to the government to begin with? How can you sell what is a private concern and always has been. Everybody knows that the sale of all intoxicants started of in the realms of orgainized crime. So what are they doing here? Are they going to attempt to hand over more public money to private people? I guess what began witn crimminal intent may as well end with it. Booze trading is right up there with the dope buisness. Sound like the gov is about to hand over a huge bail out package to another group that does not need or diserve it for what they did to this nation under the guise of legit buisness. It would have been nice never to have brought these toxins into general social ecceptance to begin with..but just like pot and other drugs...it's all natural...and this buisness is natural to human nature....the guys who sell this shit refere to it privately as the Distroyer!
