What WILL Harpr do to save his oil businesses? http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article...ggers-a-walkout When you say "nations of the world" you could have said "the developing nations," but for some reason chose not to. You do realize that these people do not care a fig about the environment, right? They don't know or care anything about global warming. To them, Kyoto and Copenhagen represent big fat cheques which they can stuff into their various Swiss bank accounts. The US has taken the same position. Obama, your hero, has said the US wants an entirely new protocol, as it was not part of Kyoto. It has it's own ideas about what are to go into Copenhagen, and those ideas are most unlikely to include vast sums of welfare cash for corrupt third world dictators. As far as I'm concerned the Toronto Star has about as much credibility as Fox News. Okay maybe Fox is a little worse but the consistency of the bias is pretty comparable. The Toronto Star is as biased as Fox News is however this is due to the right wing having no where to go with their opinions as it's the only right wing news source where we can get our commentary not flowered with pie in the sky dreaming that is infecting the western nations. Moonbox
Well, maybe walkout privileges should also be reserved only for selected, "worthy" members of international community? They can walkout all they want. They want a hand out and they feel that kicking up a stink is going to make it more likely. Their walking out is simply a lot less credible than a first-world nation walking out based on principle.

The right wing has plenty of media. So does the left. The Calgary Herald is about as credible, in my opinion, as the Star. They write what they think locals want to hear. Fox News, on the other hand, isn't just right wing. Fox News is a cesspool of paid off idiots who like to rant at dumb Americans. You can't compare it to anything else. bush_cheney2004
Canada being not looking good in the face of other nations, environmently! What WILL Harpr do to save his oil businesses? Well, in all fairness to PM Harper, Canada wasn't taken very seriously on environmental issues during the Chretien / Martin years either, especially when it came to implementing Kyoto. Oleg Bach
No nation that is under the control of privateers bent on eternal profit as a way of life and only purpose to life want anything to do with keeping the planet clean and healthy if it cuts into the bottom line. Yes the big dogs do like the idea of wet lands and good duck hunting...some are champions of environmentalism...BUT because this elite do not want to sacrafice any of their own material comforts and privledges, they shift the blame on to the unwashed masses - not on their industrial buddies. Their way of cleaning up the place is not by curbing their behaviour but by incrimentally genociding the useless eaters..trimming down and culling the populace...Canada is run by a tough bunch of very American like guys...no way are they going to allow their lackys in Government to sign anything that might help sustain the average Joe. They hate the average Joe.

Shady
Fox News, on the other hand, isn't just right wing. Fox News is a cesspool of paid off idiots who like to rant at dumb Americans. You can't compare it to anything else. That's complete nonsense. The liberal media created Fox News. If the mainstream media had given conservatives a fair shake, there'd be no need, or demand for it. As for being paid off, the liberal "journalists" working on NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC get paid million dollar salaries. So who's paid off again? Oleg Bach
Old power crazed movers and shakers who used to be called conservatives control "liberal media" and conservative media - The big dogs control both ---why would they not? Seeing they own both the left and the right.

myata
To summarize:"Canada is run by corporations who have no interest in the environment." That wouldn't be such an outlandish statement though, from the record of abandoned mines, industrial contamination, oil sands, greenhouse gas emissions and other such stats. This country is in no credible position to instruct others on things environmental, no matter what Harper's newfound call to leadership would make him believe. Shady
This country is in no credible position to instruct others on things environmental There's no need to instruct anyone on the environment. But if there were, Canada has a far better record than most. I'm sorry if that upsets you.
Oleg Bach
Look at your typical toss away human being in urban Canada - medicated - on welfare and slowly being disposed of..because like Mexcian illegals they are useless to the corporations that run this place - Even though it was the parents and grand parents of these crack heads that build the infrastructure that supplies our elite with comfort, privledge and luxury..Talk about disloyal second generation corporate heads of state! These bastards don't have any loyality to nation or country...Look at Conrad Black who was a fall guy for these chumps....cold bastard. Oleg Bach
Nonsense there is no such thing as a toss away human being. Tell that to people like Dick Cheney who believes that his family members deserve eternal privledge and all the luxury life has to provide - YET this type of person is more than willing to sign a paper that disposes of those he considers sub-human...look at our homeless problem and those dying in the streets - Don't tell me that the powers that be do not look at these people as toss away in the garbage human beings! If there was no such thing as a throw away human being no one would die needlessly. But of course you can always harvest the organs of the toss aways - I guess that makes they valuable - I concede in those regards..
Shady
Tell that to people like Dick Cheney who believes that his family members deserve eternal privledge and all the luxury life has to provide LOL, he believes that? Oleg Bach
LOL, he believes that? Stop with the wild accusations, and especially the talking out of your ass. Please. So you are the privledged type I see - snide and smug remarks like "talking out your ass" are typical for the non-creative elite living loser who has money and nothing else to show for their life. I know of a man that could be the Canadian counterpart of people like Cheney..and I have heard him refere to all Muslims as toxic waste - and that the problems in Toronto with gun crime is due strickly to the BLACKS - I honestly believe that this elite if he could press a button and get rid of thousands of undersireables he would! My comments come from observation - listening and a lot of thought...You are naive if you think that sinisterism does not exist in the world - they thought the same of the Nazis..and they proved to be a slight problem to say the least when it comes to disposing of what is considered your lesser..
