Chimera Posted December 3, 2004 Report Posted December 3, 2004 Economic Left/Right: -6.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.87 An interesting quiz. While I agree with some of the other posts that this "test" may not be scientifically accurate, I believe that (for me at least) it is close. Thanks for the link August. Quote

Tawasakm Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I thought I'd take the test again after a couple of weeks (which is long enough for a dunce like me to forget the questions) and compare the results to see how similar they are. My original results: Economic Left/Right: -3.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.72 My current results: Economic Left/Right: -4.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.82 The libertarian/authoritarian results match very closely. I seem to have moved further away from a free market in the last week though. Although maybe my economic mood is being affected by all the money I just forked out fixing my car? The test seems pretty consistent. Quote
caesar Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Although maybe my economic mood is being affected by all the money I just forked out fixing my car? You would probably fork out the same or more under your "free market" where employees would have less benefits (I guess you mean). That money would just end up more in the "employer"'s hands. Quote
August1991 Posted February 4, 2005 Author Report Posted February 4, 2005 With all the new posters, it's time to bring this thread to the top again. Do the test below (it's fun and takes about five minutes). Then post your results (Economic Left/Right) and (Social Libertarian/Authoritarian) in this thread. Political Compass Test Quote

Tawasakm Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Damn every time I see this test I feel an overwhelming compulsion to take it... Lets see where I stand this year. Economic Left/Right: -4.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.67 Before that I was: Economic Left/Right: -4.62 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.82 And before that: Economic Left/Right: -3.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.72 I don't seem to have changed a whole heap. PocketRocket Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Interesting little site. The only problem, IMO, is the absoluteness of the questions. No allowance is made for either having no opinion on the question, or for variances depending on circumstances. But still, kind of fun. Economic Left/Right: -2.00 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.77 Approaching the area inhabited by Nelson Mandella and the Dalai Lama, but a bit closer to center. I guess I better buy a new pair of sandals. Quote I need another coffee

No allowance is made for either having no opinion on the question, or for variances depending on circumstances. From the FAQ of their web site: In some cases none of the four possible responses reflected my attitudeOne expert in the field suggested that we restrict the responses to simply 'agree' and 'disagree'. But how many do you need? Ten? Twenty? If you choose the one that most nearly reflects your feeling, you'll get an accurate reading...even if it niggles. Quote

cybercoma Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 A lot of the questions had a largely social slant to them, which forced you to answer in a double negative if you chose any sort of rightwing type answer.
