johhny Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 During Harper's tenure he has been one of the most inclusive PM's in history. He was spending money on Quebec when a Westerner didn't have to. He has a large portion of his cabinet from Ontario, and in the last election made gains in New Brunswick and Ontario. how is he dividing the country? It's a deal with the "Devil" LOL I Know if I was smeared with Satanic reference by our leader I would want no part of this country. Same goes with smearing NDP voters calling them socialist who suport the "Devil" the Liberals the satanic who represent the "DEvil" no no thats not going to create a divide thats going to create stability and good relations within Canadians. capricorn Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Harper will address Canadians tonight, 7 pm ET for ten minutes in French and 10 minutes in English. Dion, Layton and Duceppe have asked for equal time. So, is this what the coalition government will look like if it comes to pass? Each of the three signatories to the new government getting equal time every time the public or the press is addressed? If the three amigos get their wish that will give the coalition 60 minutes to Harper's 20. Harper is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. ET in French and English for 10 minutes in each language. An official in Liberal Leader Stephane Dion's office said his party has asked the television networks to give equal time for an address by Dion. The NDP and the Bloc Quebecois are also seeking opportunities to address the nation. http://www.financialpost.com/story.html?id=1026300 I wonder how Dion feels about having 2 other spokesmen for the coalition. Tune in. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
madmax Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 So it's alright for Chretien and Trudeau to divide Canada? Wheres Mulroney, he did a good job of Dividing Canada. Oh, got prorogued along time ago Quote
Oleg Bach Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 If you want to use the mythical term Devil - remember that the ALMIGHTY created good and evil- and has domain over both - the game of life consists of us sorting it out and discriminating between what sustains life and provided continued stabiltity or what brings on social illness and the death of a nation. Harper may appear to be demonic to some because of his toughness - and Dion may appear to be angelic because of his quiet reserve and non-offensive features - but I heard Dion speaking recently and he is no angel....He sounded dictitorial and out of control - He if had power may in that confidence become a murderous monster ....no one knows what a man's made out of untill he shows himself in full force..what appears to be a lamb - may be the wolf - Harpers cold blue eyes are not a genetic warning or badge displaying a preditorial animal - He may actually be the gentle man and Dion and Layton may be the wolves............ myata Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Can be said any better: "We are a parliamentary democracy," Schreyer said. "And governments are elected according to whether or not they have and are able to maintain the confidence of a majority in Parliament. And if we are to remain a parliamentary democracy, then the parliamentary will must not be ignored, nor must it be avoided or evaded." madmax Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 Ah yes, good time to lose your job, right at the start of a deep recession. Don't encourage it..... I highly doubt that anyone would put their job on the line for a wildcat for political fools. Great timing too, given the surplus of oil on the world market. That slowdown is catching up to the oil industry regardless of who holds power. The vote count keeps going up, one of the strongest MLW polls going. Quote
Oleg Bach Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Two other things that he wanted to do... Prohibit the right to strike if Federal employees and to take Pay Equity off the platform. Federal employees are clients of the state and similar to those that are the lowest of the low who take money from the state with out providing a service (welfare). If those public servants who are well paid by the state decide to defy the state then they are not playing the game and should forfiet the match...they have no right to coerce the master through a strike - that's like striking your those that deploy you across the face when your finacial demands are not met - tail wagging the dog - chop off the tail if neccesary - Federal employess have it good - how much more do they want? madmax Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 (edited) 80 votes. Coalition leading by a slim margin. The votes keep going up for both sides. I would expect after tonights amatuer hour, that the Stephen that participated the least pathetic might gain a sliver of momentum. Stephen Jack Layton is speaking now in front of Parliament. He looks like a national party leader. Stephane Dion, to put it charitably, did not. And that's a significant problem when you're attempting to make the leap to prime minister. Keep the votes coming. Cameron Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Has the thought been put forward that the NDP or Liberals never intended to co-operate with the CPC? When the CPC put forth the concept of cutting the vote subsidy, it started a fire that the NDP and LPC fanned until it got to this level. Smallc Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Has the thought been put forward that the NDP or Liberals never intended to co-operate with the CPC? The NDP may not have, but I think that the Liberals really did want to work. I think many of them feel that Mr. Harper tried to stab them in the back. Quote
Smallc Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 I'm becoming really ton over this. If the coalition gets in, it will alienate the west. If the Conservatives stay in, after what they have said over the last couple of days, it will alienate Quebec. This is becoming frightening. Are we really going down this road? Can't somebody sit down with somebody else and make this work to avoid angering so many people? Quote

speaker Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 This would be a good thing. All they have to do is come to their, or preferably some kind of common senses. Isn't it amazing how quickly things have gone downhill after all that beautiful talk about co-operation? I too would like to be able to say that I can let bygones be and move on. But I can't, on the other hand I haven't been elected to put the needs of the country ahead of my own, what I can do is feel a lot of anger about what the conservatives tried to do by taking advantage of the perceived weakness of the opposition. I can readily imagine what they would have pulled if they had gotten a majority. Knock on wood. Quote
BC_chick Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 The same can be said about the west though. I really wish that Mr. Dion and Mr. Harper would sit down and sort this whole thing out. myata Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 The one really honourable out of this mess would be for Harper to step down. It's his blatant and thoughtless parstisanship that has started the whole mess. His belligirency and pathological inability to admit faults and cooperate with others, rather than press and shove his will on them, that is threatening to escalate this affair into a national and unity crisis. Even now he's asking Governor General to suspend the Parliament that Canadians have elected. Even in his own address he's failed to say openly and clearly what he was going to do. There's nothing good left that this man can do for the country. He cannot be trusted on one word he says. He has to go. Quote If it's you or them, the truth is equidistant
