Same applies to a certain extent to Jews, Sihks and other ethno-religious groups. Again, this is a universal phenomenon. If you immigrated to a country where white Christians were the majority, you'd probably head to a neighbourhood where there were others of the same background and beliefs. In fact, in your case, I guarantee it.
I live in a so-called "Jewish enclave" in Westchester County, New York. Even if you count the school district we're only about 55% Jewish, and if you go by municipal boundaries we're about 40% Jewish. Non-Jews feel quite comfortable living in a "Jewish enclave" provided they don't mind relatively high property taxes and stringent academic standards in the schools. In fact, a Catholic child attended a quite religious preschool with my son, primarily because they liked the location and the quality.

Interestingly, last weekend I was in the local Costco and I met an Italian Catholic social worker who handled children with special needs similar to my younger son's. We got to talking and she said that she would only send her children to Westchester Jewish Center's (in Larchmont) preschool. I asked "why" and she said she'd been in there as a social worker as well as other preschools and that school and one other in the area were the only places that met her quality and safety standards.

Would many non-Sikh's send their children to a Sikh school or live in a Sikh enclave? What about Pakistanis?

And your evidence is....?

In Canada, a proof is a proof (link).

Yes more Rae Days. I want Canada to really turn into a third world cesspool. Then Canada can look like some sh thiole that those immigrants came from. We'd really be making strides towards multiculturalism. Making them feel at home. That's our goal as Canadians. To make ourselves feel guilty and make immigrants feel good....makes sense to me lets all vote Liberal or NDP next election.

I wonder if Richard Warman and his thought police gestapo will come after me?

What Canada needs to do is adopt a policy of integration and immersion or kick them out.

"Learn and speak English or get out!"

"Commit a crime and we'll kick you out!"

These last two are actual quotes from the UK Labour Party.

Hard to believe that a left wing government passing such common sense laws, I know.

I was shocked as well.

Trudeau ruined this country with this multi-cultural agenda.

Multiculturism is a failure. It doesn't work. We need to abandon this failed experiment now and move towards a melting pot type of system.

If it worked racism would fail to be an issue but as it is people tend to feel more comfortable with there own race. There is nothing wrong with this at all and is evidenced by the way that newcomers create there own nations within Canada.

Yet the government still forces us to live together against our will for our own good they say.

Most of these immigrants do not integrate and do not identify themselves as Canadian first, they are always something else first. This is not the way to build a strong nation. Say what you will about the Americans, at least they are all Americans first before anything else.

I was watching Steve Paiken on The Agenda last night and they had Iraqi doctors who were practicing in Newfoundland but they all said that they would go back to Iraq in a heartbeat if it was safe and that they are Iraqi's at heart and always will be.

This is disturbing to say the least. We are admitting people to this country who do not even wish to identify with it. And only to take advantage of us and make money from us then leave when they've had their fill.

I live in GTA. So I don't live in some far away place preaching like the Liberal media likes to do. The media will preach to us about multiculturalism and how great it is to have all these different races and cultures in our neighborhoods when they live in Forest Hill or Barrie or some such. They don't live in it they don't know the hell that it is.

I like all the great food they bring but wished they made more of an effort to live and look like we do.

This is so true.

Meanwhile they provide necessary services to an underserved area where Canadian doctors don't want to go ... kind of like the 'temporary foreign workers'.

Foreign doctors coming to Canada are REQUIRED to do such service.

What did people expect by forcing people of different cultures to live together and put up with each other. It has failed everywhere and it is going to rip this country apart.

If only someone had thought of this back when they were drawing the ME's borders.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

I am in agreement that this multicultural immigration thing has failed. We should make Canada into a melting pot with only one language. Question is which one? Cree, Inuktitut or Ojibway??

As to P. T....let me revise that to be politically correct....the subversive, dangerous Liberal leader who dictated 16 of the darkest years in Canadian history.... version of multi-culturalism: it is probably the ONLY thing in his reign of destruction with which I CAN agree. The advantage in business internationally as a Canadian vs. Yanks and Euro-weenies (ESPECIALLY Yanks) is that as a Canadian, I usually come into a situation with an attitude of trying to understand and co-exist with a host culture, vs. the US concept of considering them idiots because they don't want to be just like me.

Ya I expect the Indigenous people to give us all the boot any day now.

This country is slowing bursting at the seems, but for some reason a lot of people are in denial, can't admit to a failed liberal policy.

That's one of the reasons a lot of us wish he'd leave.

"A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley

Baby steps - but steps that would not have been taken by the LIberals or NDP - and still - each step is met with howls of disdain for the mean and cruel Tories:

1) Updating the Citizenship Guide to better reflect what is acceptable/not acceptable - defining Canadian values a little better.

2) Modifying the immigration intake system to better target those who would make a more immediate contribution to the country.

3) Revamping the refugee system so that we're not suckers for economic migrants seeking a "fast path".

A decade in power but only 4 years with a majority....more could be done - but incremental steps are best to better mute the "outrage" from the usual suspects.

From where I sit, everything is working beautifully. But I wouldn't project how things are where I am (tech sector, downtown Toronto, happy young people of diverse backgrounds working together well) onto the rest of the country unless I had more to go on.

Do you ? Have more to go on, I mean ? Or do you just live somewhere where times are tough, people are bitter, the economy is bad, and everybody is white possibly ? I add that last part because in my experience, the places that worry about multiculturalism the most don't have any. For some reason.

I drove across Canada in 2005. Something about the ads - billboard and TV spots - in Saskatchewan was "off" for me. Then I realized it was because everyone in them was white. As a result, I found the place strange and not very Canadian at all.

How can you call someplace Canadian if there's nobody with a turban on, I ask you ?

I am sure it is not that rosey when you get to the immigrant getto's. And now that there is more then 275.000 coming, where most will end up in TO. The day will come when it is going to burst at the seems.

It all depends what's important to you, and where you go. The graffiti there is quite artistic and well apostrophe'd. Many of them are poor with strong family bonds and crime happens everywhere.

What does that mean ? And what if it doesn't ? Will you change your mind about multiculturalism ?

The problem is, they say we need more people to work out west ,but yet most immigrants head to TO or other big cities. And I thought crime was waaaay down when you listen to the lefties and we don't need anymore tough on crime measures. I think people are in denial on how bad it is going to get. I will never change my mind on it.

Immigrants head out west too. They call them Easterners.

Crime is way down... don't be scared by the red on the map.
