Moonlight Graham Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 Christmas has devolved from what was originally a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, our saviour, into a hyper-capitalist, ultra-materialistic charade. It's a really sad reflection of our society. Come back our saviour, we need saving again. It didn't quite catch on the 1st time. Topaz Posted December 16, 2011 Report Posted December 16, 2011 The down side of Christmas is when your kids realize YOU have been lying to them and that you always told THEM to tell the Truth and that gets thrown back in your face. Most parents buy too much stuff for their kids and this Christmas I'm sure their are families out there that don't have the money for food or gifts because they lost their jobs and the EI has run out and welfare is the next step. So for those out there who do have a job, food on the table at Christmas Day, remember those that don't and donate to your food bank. Quote

sharkman Posted December 20, 2011 Report Posted December 20, 2011 Yes, there are issues with Christmas, but it was not meant to be this way, and you can still have the real Christmas in you heart if you try. Don't make presents the focus, give of yourself instead. As I sit in my favorite Lazyboy listening to the Blind Boys of Alabama sing The Little Drummer Boy, I know it's still possible to connect to the spirit of Christmas. Try it, you'll never go back.
