  1. Old Cold and Bold. Some of the infrastructure in our oldest cities are in dire need of repair and or outright replacement. Montreal has sewers and water mains that are over 50, maybe 100 years old. Wood telephone pools last about 30 to 40 years then need replacing. When stuff is used, there is wear and tear, and sometimes, major overhauls need to be done. Maybe I will take my statement back and say that the money needs to be poured into rebuilding old to ancient infrastucture in our larger older cities.
  2. August1991 No, paying that 14 billion against our total national debt, reduced the interest owed on the total national debt. Just like a house purchase. The more you throw down on it, the less your payments will be and better off you will be in the long run. You will not be paying as much interest, so you are saving money in the long run. The more money you pay off faster, then the interest you pay on it will be dramatically reduced. Otherwise, you could end up paying 2x what the house is worth by the time everything is payed off. http://www.canadianeconomy.gc.ca/english/economy/ Our national debt as of 2006 was $481,499,000,000. -13 billion brings it to $478,499,000,000 I say throw it on the national debt. Also the term Surplus here means that Canada did not spend all of it's allocated budget for that period. We are still overal in much debt. So there really is no surplus here.
  3. He won't be able to finish what he started, Bush's time is almost up. You really mean the NEXT President will be able to finish this..... oh wait, Bush said the US could be in there for a long time. He even said that this struggle will continue once he left office. Finish what you started. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Please.
  4. And we use articles from news sites to support our views. That is a forum. Get used to it. Articles are quoted all the time. Get used to it. If you think it is spam, then ignore every poster who does this. You are gonna find this place boring if you do that however. HOWEVER, Burma does not exist anymore. it is now called Myanmar. Sanctions on Burma don't equate to anything at all. All in all the peacefull protests will go on, and that will bring change to the country. Or the place will go into the bucket. Maybe it already has. Do you really need to use automacit weapons on Bhuddist Monks?
  5. Reading some parts of this thread again and it seems to me , that NONE OF US know exactly or even have a slight idea what fascism really is. Eye of the beholder I guess. And since most of us live in an open free society, we are not exposed to the fascism first hand. I doubt any of you really knows what it is like. I sure as hell don't. Living in Canada for all 36 years of my life, I really don't have a clue. Since all I am able to understand about it is from reading about it. But I will tell you one thing. Democracy does not work either. How abou this. Can any of you personaly tell us first hand, how and when you encountered fascism?
  6. I agree with this. I don't understand how a Bhuddist monk can be violent to others, when all their monkdom talks about peace and being peacefull within and without. I would bet a monk would take out another monk before they actually take out anyone else. Get a few hundres monks together, peacefull protest (as they keep doing for they are determined to bring peace, through non violent action. For that they get MOWED DOWN like grass. Those pussy ass cops are using AUTOMATIC weapons to fire on unarmed peacefull monks. What is a monk to do but set himself on fire?
  7. Ahh shit, my personal invitation to Iraq must have gotten lost in the mail. You can do better than this, because, you know, it IS to protect our freedoms. Tripe. EDIT Sorry, not tripe. I now can see the sarcasm in your reply. That I missed before. My apologies.
  8. The real tragedy is that these people are not committing crimes against the West. Since that is not happening, the powers that want to be, show their true face on how they feel about human rights. They are not committing crimes against the west, so no one can claim (even half assed) OMG TERRORISM< TEHY ARE GONNA KILL US ALL AND TAKE OUR FREEDOMS AWAY !!!!. This (EDITED cause I cannot swear here apparently) has been going on for 4 (Ahh yess another edit) years now. And just NOW they decide to take some action? How long have you heard about the crap in Darfur, but have yet to see any signifigant UN or US/Coalition military .... AHEM .. peacekeeping forces to combat the violence. Iraq is purely a distraction. Mussies killin mussies?? Who cares right? Blacks and Arabs fighting each other? Who cares right? As long as these idiots keep offing each other and not any cilivilzed westerners, then we are all cool with it .... right?? Shame.
  9. Shit no. None of those lying bastards are telling the truth.
  10. ScottSA Energy reserves (oil) and a permanent military presence in the Middle East. That sublte enough for you? Le Edit What is Fascism? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces This little bat boy shows up on the US Currency and in the US Congress http://pmindia.nic.in/photo_gallary/GetPhoto.asp?id=1001 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Houseof...esentatives.jpg Hehe check out this kids page http://clerkkids.house.gov/time/art/index.html Ok sorry, got off track. OH YEAH FACSISM.
  11. All you people are really hammin on buffycat so I will help her out a bit. I do seem to understand her post. She is saying, NO MATTER WHAT HE IS SAYING, that Ahmadinejad carried himself very well in the interviews. He to me seemed more natural and did not seem like he was labouring in his speech. Something Bush does damn near all the time. Check out the CBS bit with Pelley and Ahmadinejad. Pelley laboured and sounded like he was tiptoeing around something. He was being pretty careful. Baiting him maybe. So, it is not that we agree with what Ahmadinejad is saying, it is how he carries himself in speeches and QnA periods. That is what is impressing. But go ahead and even fail to take in this bit of insight and just say he kills kittens. But come on. This is the best title for this thread? War is around the corner (some say it is already happening) between the US and Iran. And all we can put up on a forum is this?
  12. The only reason you notice the Muslims more is because through the media et al, you are exposed to Muslims and are made aware of them every day. Ever buy a car, then notice everyone else is driving that same car?? Same thing applies here. You are made aware of it, then you notice it. All those Muslim Mosques were probably there for a long time. But only through the media are you taking notice of it. Thanks for the vid ScottSA. Reminds me of this video at Montebello in Quebec during the summit/conference on the SPP with Harper, Bush and Calderon. Cops in the crowd try to instigate the people into rioting. That plan backfired. It was even on CBC.ca that it was revealed that they were in fact cops disguised as protesters. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/20...ice-070822.htmlI am glad it backfired. The more wild a crowd gets, the more reason the cops have to apprehend people. Don't give in to the shit, and they have no reason to arrest anyone. Every time this happens, it allows the cops and the powers that be to put more control on us. Eroding any freedom of peaceful assembly you have. Slippery slope, and once you slip...... Don't slip.
  13. Only if the reply had a point. Because we are talking about Osama Bin Laden. But it does seems like Karzai was with the Muhajedeen. According to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamid_Karzai Ahh, Pakistan comes up again.
  14. This does not answer any of those questions at all. It is very relevant, because it gives a history and a context about Osama's condition of being alive or dead. You need to learn and understand the history behind OBL, the CIA, and terrorism. Is he dead? Is he alive? If he is dead, was it natural causes? Untimely accidental death? Some elite military or paramilitary involement? JBG Maybe if my questions were addressed we can show who was all involved with the training, and how it got to that point. Everyone wants to deal with the NOW and say the past is irrelevant. If you don't learn the past then everything that is stated today without the history then becomes irrelevant.
  15. I will make it clearer since my last post confused most. Actually, screw it, here are a few questions. Was Osama Bin Laden part of A - Taliban B - Al-Queda C - Muhajedeen D - All of the above? (Guess it depends on your news source) For the above question, who did the US back to fight off the Soviets? Then ask Why?
  16. M Dancer Remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki and you can find the answer. Or they could be going the other way and are attempting to set up a M.A.D. situation. If we all have the same big stick, real dialog tends to happen more. Cold War for example.
  17. Totally worth another thread in of itself to discuss the media and how information is presented to us. I'd jump in on that.
  18. Bush Cheney Meh, again as a Canadian, you get no arguments from me in your American views of the Canadian political system and it's policies. Like they care what an American has to say. Or whatever it is you say all the time. Harper and Bush are both crooked idiots. No arguments here. Where did the hijackers on 9/11 come from again?? OH THAT IS RIGHT ... Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. So the US holds Afghanistan and Iraq responsible for this. In a way, invading Afghanistan made sense for Osama Bin Laden was operating out of there with his private stash of cash. Oh we do know that Osama Bin Laden is originally from Saudi Arabia as well as most of those 9/11 hijackers. Osama sets up camp in Afghanistan, recruits some Pakistanis and Saudis to orchestrate the 9/11 attacks. But we know from reports that Kaled Sheik Mohammed (KSM) while in Gitmo confessed and took responsibility as the master mind and brains behind it. Osama maybe just bankrolled the operation. Now we should look into this but, was Osama with the Taliban or Mujajhdeen? I can't recall who the CIA funded again. Anyways... So Iraq was invaded in 2003. Not one of the 9/11 hijackers was Iraqi. So . . . besides the Neo Cons and PNACs long term plan for Middle East transformation even IF you consider 9/11 in this equation, does it make any sense at all that Iraq was invaded? EDIT - one more thing, take also into consideration that no hijackers were from Iraq as well as none were trained in Iraq.
  19. Kimmy, I agree with I would say it had an influence on the voters as well. Maybe just not as high as I thought they would be. BushCheney Yeah last time they ignored good ol' Jihad Joe, they end up having some planes fly into some buildings. Again, Bush even them, and now again says, that he is not very interested in Bin Laden. Bin Laden is not being scary terrorist like in the video, so he is marginalized when even the Master of Terror himself is just spewing out some non interesting words. Blowback blows up buildings. Kuzzad, has there been any other videos posted in the past that do this? Could it be the one source edited it for whatever reason? But that is weird, even if authentic.
  20. If pot was legalized, I'd start growing it myself. Have a few plants for my personal use. You might find a lot more greenthumbs cropping up all over the place. If people know how to make/grow/produce it on their own. You might find gang crime mafia style crap just simply dissapear. Poof. Since people grow their own, no money is really exchanged, no possibility of getting shafted in a crooked drug deal. Keeping drugs illegal is what generates the cash flow it does. In regards to Hell's Angels. Drugs are legal now and well, since they wanna be bad boys and stick it to the man. Be all the badass you can be. Being an Angel means you are doing much illegal activity. Now, not so much with it being legal. The whole ideals behind the Angels becomes pointless. Drugs will never become legal, because until we change the leaders that presently be, drugs are one of the biggest reasons we have law enforcement growing at an unbelievable pace. We need more security from all these bad men that want to hurt us because they are doing illegal things and making illegal things in which we buy at a high price. The more illegal drugs you buy, the more of a reason to increase law enforcement. I will go as far as to say that illegal drugs seem to help the economy indirectly by needing an increase in law enforcement, security companies, that produce services that make you safe. By employing millions of people to uphold the law at all levels of government and private corporations. Direct corealation. People get a bad rap if they use drugs. I am a daily pot smoker. I know people that like a line of coke now and then. Most of us should have some common sense of what we decide to put into our bodies. Pot has helped me cure my depression. Medical benefits on many drugs when applied correctly. My smoking does not get in the way of me performing my daily tasks at my job. But if people want to wreck their lives by always wanting a hit, they can continue to do so. Their choice.
  21. The Olsen Twins scare me more. But i'd still hit it.
  22. Show me the links .... back that stuff up.
  23. BushCheney As a Canadian, you are correct. But you are an American, and your rights have been violated. And on free speech. If you have hate speech laws, then really, that in of itself is a violation of freedom. If a KKK wants to scream hate speech, he should be allowed. You just have the freedom of not listening to it. Exercise that freedom of ignoring others speech. Hate speech and organizations like the KKK can easily be sidelined and maginalized when you just simply ignore them. So we have two forms of freedom here. The right to free speech, and the right to ignore other's free speech.
  24. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_Non-P...ving_the_treaty Iran left the NPT in February 2006. This is my favourite bit here. They violated nothing in regards to the NPT. They were not even a party to it. They did not see staying with the NPT as benefiting Iran overall. So they withdrew, which is allowed, and again, tells us, that Iran, violated nothing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_Non-P...ion_Treaty#Iran The US and the UN Security Council wants Iran to stop the enrichment. Which they claim is for civilian use. And they have not violated the NPT here at all. From the SAME paragraph. So maybe they just need some help to make their civilian nuclear programme work better and to comply with the safeguards and restrictions the IAEA put on Iran in regards to the civilian nuclear programme. The IAEA is there to help with making nuclear power as safe as it can be. We really do not need another Chernobyl.
  25. ..... and JUST in time for the anniversary of September 11, September 11, September 11, September 11,September 11, terrorism, terrorism, September 11, terrorism..... A NEW OSAMA VIDEO !!!! And might I add, he looks quite dapper after using that box of 'Just For Non-Vain Terrorizing Men' Why would Osama colour his beard? I know cutting the beard conflicts with his Islam religion, but colouring??? Hmmm. He has one hell of a make over team!!! http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/07/binladen.tape/index.html No way!!! Propaganda? Oh and BushCheney http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,296065,00.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6984102.stm More talk about the beard and he will give Wolf Blitzer a run for the moniker. No this tape's released was not timed, and had nothing to do with scaring or influencing Americans. Not convenient at all. Lots of beard talk.
