I don't see any circumstances where the Jays get rid of Stroman or Sanchez. The Jays aren't close enough that one pitcher will make a huge difference. If Fransisco plays first every day, we are going to see a whole lot of bunts down that line.

The problem with all these Muslims and Jews and such in the ME is that they worship false Gods. If they only brought Jesus into their hearts, they'd live in happiness. Jimmy Swaggart is underemployed and has a global communications network to teach these people how to act like good Christians.

Yes, the $200 million that Chuck Guite, Rogue Bureaucrat, handed out to impoverished Montreal ad agencies without need for receipts was all an illusion. A hologram generated by that spawn of Satan Harper.

Nah, I think he was brought in to platoon with Fransisco. FRancisco doesn't see many right hander fastballs anymore, and that is all he can hit. Goins would have made this team late last year or early this year, but he absolutely shit the bed at the plate, twice. Like I said, he has to prove he can hit to stay with the big team. Kawasaki is an entertaining, hardworking, versatile and minimally skilled kind of guy but I agree that he is having a better year at the plate than usual. In the field.... he's gonna have to get better if he wants to start, but he is 33 and only been in MLB <3 years, so..... They need a starting 2nd base and center fielder.

Encouraging Developments Against Zionist Apartheid Regime!

Are you talking about Israel and its neighbours or Canada/USA? -
The Jays are auditioning everybody at second base. Goins? He'll have to prove he can hit. Kawasaki? Meh. Tolleson? Nope. Maybe the new guy.
-
I don't expect to see Fransisco on the roster much longer. He can't field or run, and apparently cannot hit either.
-
Its a bit odd since the Jays have a right handed 3rd baseman named Lawrie back soon. They could use a RH bat on the bench though, and apparently this guy also plays 2nd.

The Oilers have almost nothing at center, literally. Nugent-Hopkins is a dandy player and has plenty of promise but he will never be big enough to play against the monster first line centers that dominate the dominant West. He should be their second line and power play guy. After him, they have nothing. Boyd Gordon on fourth line, maybe minor league midget Arcobello on third, maybe 18 year old Dreisatl on second. Really, all they have are wingers. The defence is better, they now have a couple of actual NHL defencemen. Another horrible year methinks.

Beane was desperate to get anybody cheap, since Oakland is a crap market in a horrible building. Lack of money drove him first and foremost, sabermetrics allowed him to field a respectable team. He is doing very well the last few years and Oakland looks great this year, well rounded.

50% of Canadians want Canada to be neutral. I don't believe that. A few Canadians live in a fantasy world where they think that Canada is some kind of giant frozen Switzerland, a nuetral observer and helper of the weal and downtrodden. Canada is not and never has been a neutral country, we have clear alliances with other countries and that includes strong military alliances.

I was thinking of Brian McCann who played the entire game at first like he had overdosed on ketamine. He gave the Jays the win on two plays.

There are far, far more stores and exponentially more products than when the ALCB was run by govt. There are also many opportiunities to get booze for cheap as nearly all stores large and small have sales, often at or below their cost. That never happened before. So yes, it has been an unqualified win for consumers. No revenue was forgone. Adjusted for todays dollar, net revenue in 1993 was $625m, in 2012 it was $687m. And of course, that has been done with far less risk to taxpayers since there are no benefits and particularly no gigantic public pension liabilities accruing. I say again, the only people that don't like privatization in AB are the public service unions, who like anywhwere else fight to keep the dues rolling in and don't give a shit about anything else. All it really takes to make it happen is a politician with the balls to stand up to his own unions. Any of those floating around in ON?

They were lucky to win that first one in 18 games, but gutted it out in the second win. They've won 3 series in a row. Go Jays.

The HAMAS Charter - Murderous Insanity

Iran most definitely has their back, where do you think the endless supply of rockets comes from? They are not remotely similar, except in the most corrupt and fevered imaginations. Is there something in the charter of Likud that calls for the physical extermination of every Arab? Any evidence that Likud launches random rocket attacks on Gaza? -
bike lanes save money/lives/health
overthere replied to The_Squid's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nope. People don't normally travel long distances on bicycles unless they're one of those weekend goobers in Spandex. Have you seen the Napoleonic roads in France, many of which exist today and have cars on them now? They were built to allow cavalry, infantry, artillery and supplies on quick march routes at a time that were very few roads at all. The majority of heavy freight until the advent of trains in Europe went by canal, river and sea, none by bicycle. Napoleon obliged local governments to plant and maintain oak trees on both sides of these roads so his troops could march in the shade. Now those oaks are mighty indeed, and being right beside the road they tend to kill numerous French drivers every year. -
The HAMAS Charter - Murderous Insanity

Nonsense. The Palestinians have received billions in aid from all over the world for many years. Their great leader of a few decades ago, Yasser Arafat, died with a few of those billions in his private accounts. Of course, he was just safeguarding it there. Hamas is mainly funded by or rather via Syria, and of course Syria is an Iranian proxy state. Hezbollah is the other ball of hate on Israels border(in Lebanon) and they also are funded by Iran via Syria via Lebanon, with Lebanon largely run by Syria. -

Bikes should not be on sidewalks with pedestrians, period. I have no problem with brakeless bikes on the roads. We should all encourage activities that benefit our common gene pool, and this one is obvious. -
The CBC wants Netflix to pay for CanCon
overthere replied to Boges's topic in Media and Broadcasting
My wish is that the federal government dismantles CBC TV, which is dying because it cannot compete in an industry that is rapidly leaving a failing business model. The traditional networks are all suffering and that won't change. Aside from the reality that CBC does not make anything that anybody wants to watch, like other networks they won't find enough ad revenue to support themselves in the near future. I'd like to see CBC Radio continue on the revenue model described in previous posts, or any other way that their listeners choose to pay for it. They can keep the real estate and equipment as a parting generous gift from taxpayers. Bon voyage. -

Have you seen the recent movie 'Her'? It is based on the premise that intense, intimate personal Artificial Intelligence relationships via smartgadgets are imminent and will become pervasive. Considering how much information is potentially available right now about your person tastes, likes, buying habits and lifestyle it is inevitable that some clever software will soon exploit that marketing goldmine. When I see so very very many people sitting with 'friends', all of them ignoring each other while buried in the smartphones, it is a world that is not at all difficult to imagine. Pretty good flick, well made and for me more than a little bit creepy. -
The CBC wants Netflix to pay for CanCon

Yes, I understand you don't want to pay for your own entertainment, which is how CKUA funds its operations: by listeners who care enough to cough up. Instead, you seem to want CBC to continue to produce shit nobody watches at extremely high cost to everybody else. Why not a listener or viewer supported model, which has worked extremely well at the oldest public broadcaster in Canada: CKUA. It shut down AM years ago mostly because the entire planet now has FM reception and the sound quality is far better than AM. The network(far bigger than a single station) was not 'gifted' their new building, they applied for funding available to any community organization and got it on merit. Yes, merit. If their application had failed, they would have continued in their old or other premises, as they have for a long time. I know this because I personally have done grant applications for two other non profits and know the process in Alberta. Heres another newsflash: those organiztions that create revenue for their own operations have a vastly greater chance of approvals for capital grants than those that don't. CKUA raises lots of dough themselves. It makes a huge difference. They are extremely well managed. You don't approve of volunteers in non profit or\ganizations? Why not? You think they get paid too little? Send more money then. They don't seem to have a problem with it, many of the on and off air people at CKUA have been there for years, some for decades. Oh wait, you like CBC(but not enough to pay for it yourself) and support a business model that ensures a huge array of management and staff producing rubbish that nobody watches. I am employing my psychic powers and guessing you are not self employed or in charge of any kind of budget. The analogy is meant to provide a new business model for public broadcasting, or rather employing one that has worked very well. It's an upgrade from yours, which I believe is centered on Wayne and Shuster reruns.
