  1. You would be surprised at the courage some of these young guys have. Between 18 and 24 you think your invincible i think. Unfortunetly, the ones who live through military action have that illusion dispelled real quick. But yes, I am not particurally worried about a nuclear haulocaust between the US and Russia. I would be more worried about a dirty bomb going off in a football stadium or something of that nature.
  2. Question: Do you think that the Americans are working effectively with Canadian troops to pacify and facilitate Afghanistan? If so, could you provide examples? IF not, What areas need improvement?
  3. Gotta love to live in societies protected by the very might you denounce so that you can are free to denouce them. God I love the US.
  4. I love it. This summarizes everything as to why America does not listen to anyone in the world anymore. We are cowards if we dont fight and Facist nazi pigs if we do fight. Can you make up your mind please? The fact of the matter is we can all sit back and be Arm chair generals and huff and puff and sneer all we want, it doesnt change the fact that America will send its boys to die where we choose and in our own good time. So Bush was moved by pictures of Auschwitz. Your going to spin that particular tradgedy into a bush bashing thread?
  5. Interesting that you have no sense of humor to say the least. Everyone else that I have told that to have found that quite funny including the women who i felt had the sense of humor to enjoy the jest. Does it make you feel uncomfortable to make a joke that could be potentially derogatory towards women? They do say a sense of humor is a sign of intelligence. Just something to maul over.
  6. Just to make a complete joke out of this thread... Why cant men ever trust women? A. Because how can you trust something that bleeds for 4 days and doesnt die! Im sorry I couldnt resist, Im actually quite respectful towards women but a friend of mine told me that one the other day and I lost it
  7. Tawa nice to have you back. I will attempt to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge or if i dont have a clear understanding myself offer an opinion. 1. I think that when looking for a logical answer to a question such as that you have to look at the motive. What do the Iranians have to gain. I think if you look at the revolutionary guard there is a common theme of martyrdom. I believe that there goal was two fold, to test and see what are response would be to threatening behavior and to provoke an incident. If Iran can force us to into war by the US own action then it would serve two purposes. Turn world opinion against such an action. and Unite there country into opposition. 2. to be clear I believe you are saying is it worth it to the Iranians? If thats what you mean I would say absolutely not. And to me more clear on that to the average Iranian this could only go bad. However, to its tin pot dictator I believe thats exactly what he wants. Which, again i believe to goes back to the holiest of Islamic beliefs, martyrdom. 3. When has the media ever NOT skewed things to there angle. No surprise that they could have jumped the gun. 4. I would hope that we would limit are involvement in Iran to knocking out there ability to wage effective country to country war. In other wards eliminate there military assets and taking out there president. I don't wanna see another full fledged clean up effort like Iraq and Afghanistan. 5. Thats a really great question and I think that in order for that to happen we would need to see a large de-escalation of hostile intent in the region. such as US troops pulled back or out of Iraq. Americans as a whole don't fear war but we are glad to see are sons and daughters come home if you follow.
  8. Have made two trips over there as a civilian, im still ticking. wish i made 125,000 dollars on each trip though lol
  9. Again I am going to disagree with you. One thing the United States has learned and done well is how to avoid a war of attrition. The reason you feel the us military is ineffective in Iraq is because the military is designed to fight in open warefare. It is not designed for police action. And that is essentially what you are seeing in iraq now is police work. The idea is for mobile forces such as my brothers armored recon battalion to draw fire, achieve fire superiority, and essentially bring down massive fire on your enemy. The reason this does not work in guerilla warfare well is often as not you will have no target to shoot at. IED's or a sniper taking a shot or two then fleeing that sort of thing. Here is what would happen if say China invaded the United States. First they would lose about half there force crossing the Pacific ocean to our far superior naval and air forces. Assuming that did not deter them, they could probably take and hold california, Us forces from texas, would set up on the far side of the Rockies and wait for them to bottle neck themseleves there. Then you would see c130 gun ships and Stealth bombers dropping j-saws absolutely annihalate tank columns through the mountains. It would be a slaughter. And thats if they chinese could bully there way thru are naval assets and we had no allies. Not to mention I would be willing to bet the street gangs in LA would give them absolute hell. lol
  10. While not a huge proponent of Ron Paul I have for a long time believed we needed a 3 party system for balance. I really liked what Fred Thompson had to say but I think John Mccain will end up with the necessary votes to be the republican candidate this year. Honestly I have never liked the Clinton's and Im undecided on Baraka
  11. I will say there is some truth to that. Hitler was nominated Man of the year by times magazine. We all know how that turned out. Im not arguing that the women was a saint and needs to be put up to that level. But I do think that she learned from her mistakes the first time around. Although I cant claim to know the inner thoughts of a person, who words later in life seemed to indicate a reversal of thinking. We could argue back and forth all day about what she said was a cream coating but I think it would be a fairly foolish argument.
  12. thats a joke right. we have a little over 3000 dead fighting basically police action at this point in a "war" that has lasted longer than world war 2. Have you ever looked at the confirm body counts for iraqi or afghani fighters? I'd say we are kicking fucking ass over there. The United States armed forces is the cream of the crop. No force in the world could match it. But what about CHINA you say. Sure they have the manpower but they dont have the ability to project that force. In a conventional battle in this day in age, nobody in the whole wide world would stand a chance against the US. And to think otherwise is comical at best. (since somebody is going to say it, I am not talk about the use of nuclear devices which would be akin to mass suicide for any country to use on us.) You might wanna keep up on current US arsenal vs rest of the world. You will see that save probably the United Kingdom, nobody is even close to as advance as us. In modern warfare its not the numbers that count, its how mobile is it and how fast can you respond.
  13. I'm seeing a Maung Lao women right now. If you know anything about the culture at all, then you know that particular Asian culture is particularly traditional about staying with in the culture. But I have always felt that were all the same color when the lights go out!
  14. that million man army they vaunt would last about 3 days or less. Its amazing what a c130 gunship can do to a tank column. Since the US F22 would sweep everything out of the sky within the first day or two I doubt very much we would have any problems. Also if you think china is gonna side with Iran over its biggest buyer your out of your mind. Business first.
  15. Ill be the first to say that the ends dont always justify the means. Meaning how you accomplish your goals is just as important as the end result. She did what she felt was necessary in a society that tradition says should be demonized for doing the things that she did. Women have a back seat in Islamic society. However, regardless of the amount of corruption done to achieve her goals. If given the means and time I believe she could have made a better Pakistan and safer world. There are few people who get the opportunity in this world to really make a difference. At the very least, she had the courage to try. So i take my hat off to her for making the effort that she did. I wont quibble over every pro and cons and mistake she made. We are all guilty of that. And corruption does not start and stop with her. Even in the US and Canada we have corrupt politicians.
  16. ] Yes but were addressing the issue today. Which is why you don't hear cries about tibet because the chinese will basically give you the proverbial finger and theres not a damn thing we can do about it. Short of mass suicide from the ensuing mushroom clouds.
  17. Yes i realize that but its within recent memory. Im sure theres some very old turks that probably still remember it. And more importantly passed on to there children how they destroyed the evil Armenians. etc etc. Well, I guess time will tell on this.
  18. I am absolutley disgusted by how badly this thread was Jacked. THE SUBJECT IS THE SPENDING HABITS OF THE PRESIDENT OF ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY! its not about Islam or christian belief, we have seperate thread all about that. Thanks to those of you who actually kept on topic. Personally I think its disgusting that the American people are funding this kind of debauchery. If I were on the Judical board who took this case I would vote to pull there funding. If my kid was going there, I would pull them out of that school in a New York minute. Its a shame that Old man Roberts son has absolutely squandered the family name.
  19. Yeah but even if we pacify both Iraq and Afghanistan it does not mean we might not have another 9/11. Besides Im not talking about Pretend war crimes. Im talking about the very real possibility of mass murder. Which the Turks have proven through out history that they have had the will to do. Now I am not saying do nothing at all. Thats not the solution, if it was there wouldnt be a PKK after 20+ years. What I am saying is that this has to be handled with a velvet glove instead of an Iron fist. We have alot at stake here. If we allow the turks in, we may gain an ally for the next 20 or 30 years but at the cost of alot of innocent kurds lives. I guess the question is, at what cost in lives is acceptable before we gotta say "Thats enough Turkey?" I'm not squirmy about innocent deaths per say but even the biggest war advocate would not wanna see mass genocide.
  20. Well you have a point there, but the thing that concerns me is the look away while turkey runs them over. Which sure as you or I were born they will do. They don't exactly have a track record when it comes to dealing with cultures they are REALLY pissed at. Like I stated before I would not want to have another Armenian genocide. Even you have to be slightly concerned about how the Turks would handle it.
  21. the largest standing army in the world, soon to be the strongest economy in the world, Nuclear weapons. Pretty fucking big deterrent to mess with the big kid on the East side of the block.
  22. I could not agree with you more, but even you have to agree allowing Turkey to essentially invade Iraq would be just about the total death of any hope the Iraqi people have in the US in turning there country around. Wouldn't you agree?
  23. Admin delete this post, serves no purpose since higgly did not take the time to see my link.
  24. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/10/15...t.ap/index.html This is a very delicate situation, especially for the United States. On one hand it would help us because it would put another countries troops into a destabalized area. Which could produce some order to the region. It would give the Turkish government a boost among its people, which might help stave off the more extreme Islamic reforms that have lately been pushed there. It would show we are also more than just allies of words with Turkey who have been so instrumental post world war 2 in keeping tabs on the Communist countries. On the other hand. It could be disasterous. One needs to look no further than what happend to the armenians at the hands of the turks and see what kind of human rights track record they have. It would be devestating to the rebuilding effort in Iraq if we allowed turkety to essential cut off a corner of the country. All in all its a political fiasco for the US. We could either lose a long time ally in a relatively moderate Islamic state. Or basically have wasted the last 7 years pumping millions of dollars and lives into Iraq. Definetly the Rock and a hard place.
  25. I actually do believe in global warming, I don't necessarily buy into a sudden and dramatic life ending shift in climate but there is definetly a difference in climate that has been noticible even in my lifetime. I think that organizations that completely debunk global warming are most likely on the payroll of Big Industry. Such as Coal, oil, and steel. You have to keep in mind that if we REALLY took steps to pair down are gas emissions we would cut heavily into the profits of Fuel providers. Economic's trumps virtue every single time. History has taught us that.
