Yes cell phones are much easier to track, and you don't need apple or google permission to do it...In Afghanistan Canada had the ability to listen to any cell phone conversation within a certain range, track not only the caller but the receiver as well all while on the move,with exact GPS coordinates and conversation details... the same vehicle could also block all cell phone traffic, and whole frequencies ranges such as garage door openers, etc...as they were used to set off IED's that was more than 15 years ago, and that was Canada, i can not imagine what the US forces had access to then and now...Any electronic device can be tracked, located and listened to...Israel has a massive intelligence community might not be on the same level as the US but it is pretty close...

Terrorist are not declared combatants, nor are they covered by the protections of the Geneva conventions...according to the US supreme court, International law and everything that come out of Gitmo...I think what your thinking of is if a civilian picks up a weapon and decides to fight then it is legal to target them with weapons of war while he has in his hands a weapon..He may be arrested later but not targeted with lethal force,unless he resists... each NATO country has it's own interpretation of those laws...... Your right every combatant needs to wear some sort of identification like an armband, uniform, something...not doing so is a war crime... But anyone that is a terrorist or works for a terrorist group is a target for life....and could have a kill or capture order attached to their name. Every nation has there own list of names...but the names on the top are pretty much the same on everyone's list. Thats on the guy that stole them...remember collateral damage is acceptable according to the Geneva convention, inter national laws and most western countries laws...there are caveats put in place to ensure "almost" everything with in reason was done to limit these deaths... Again i ask why in todays world would anyone want a pager, when there is a cell phone that does everything and much more...unless your doing something sketchy like dealing drugs or doing something terrorist's do...They can still be tracked/ blocked it may be a little harder, but any electric device can be tracked...

Just a question....Israelis intelligence finds out that the terrorist are in the market for pagers....it sets up a dummy company even sells pagers to regular civilians....we are assuming they are selling bomb pagers to everyone....i think they have a great idea who is who terrorist or not they been tracking them for years.... But intelligence knows the terrorist group and who is doing the ordering...who are ordering these pagers... they load these ones with explosives...while the others going out to joe blow gets a perfectly good pager no explosive... One of the questions that has been asked some of these pagers got issued to regular people....really Terrorist are giving out pagers to non terrorist...why would they do that ? why in today's world would anyone want a pager, vice a cell phone, if you were not doing anything shady...And if you were working for the bad guys why does that not make them a target?

Can you name one Canadian politician that was jailed for committing crimes ?... How many politicians were charged with crimes, or were investigated for criminal matters ?... It would seem like you can't jail anyone while they serve in office or once they retire...

Our ship building industry died years ago, and should have been left dead...South Korea could have already built everything we needed years ago...even the British went over seas to build their Supply ships, on time for a 1/2 the cost...This whole ship building project is nothing more than wealth redistribution to major Canadian companies, that don't even produce quality products, just look at the swimming pools in each of the AOPS ships...cancel the whole thing out source it and save billions in doing so...

Look the US has many complete Light infantry divisions, the 82 and, and 101 st still practice and conduct airborne and air assualts missions. If modern air defense systems make doing these mission obsolete i think we would have heard of them re rolling them into something else...Meanwhile here in Canada, our Light Infantry also still train for air assualts and air bourne missions...are they acquiring vehicles to add to their fleet sure they are...that does not mean they are re rolling their mission state... You said they are no longer using Helo's because of modern air defenses...and yet they are still using them as a form of transport, still using transport aircraft, still using attack helos, and on occasion still using medi vac Helos...Now i'm sure that if a mission came up that requires the use of light infantry in some air assaults then it would be considered...Not much call for air mobile or airborne mission when your defensive for the most part. And despite all these draw backs as you say, the British Royal marines and British Airborne forces have used them in combat in Afghanistan, as they were much better than open air vehicles... and almost every artic or near artic country has them in their inventory...BVS10 has a proven track record of performance when operating in northern parts of the country,including in Marshes, swamps, over ice pacts, open water, lakes and rivers, operating in heavily wood terrain..places you pick up is not going and it can do that in all seasons... Thats what we said in afghanistan, not everything needs to be armored.....it was way cooler to ride around in an open air ilitis jeeps until a few of them got blown up, with no survivors....do that a few times and you quickly change your mind...even our wheeled vehicles got up armored....or take a 3 hour road move in minus 40 does the same thing changes your mind... According the the british all of their BVS 10 are fully transportable by chinook either as a complete unit or separated. Yes they do not have to be operated with both units together...and can be quickly attached back together within minutes... Not sure what to say, the army is the largest element for good reason, nobody is forced into the army they are given a choice of all 3 elements and they choose Army...it's not a sin, it just more exciting to blow shit up...than fix air planes... There was no parades just massive military exercises,war games that ran for a entire month, across the german country side, involving up to 150 k troops and equipment.. that included Army and air force...wanted to see a tank battle all you had to do was look out your back door, same as in the air dog fights with all kinds of NATO aircraft were common occurrences... Here in Canada the army on a rare occasion will exercise in the public domain, but the restrictions are much more severe...instead for the most part they seclude the military to training areas out of the public eye... I think most of on this forum live in a Canadian city or township, if your implying that your statement means there are no guns you'd be wrong...but not everyone in ontario is gun free, hunting , fishing outdoor sports is alive and well, but then again in Ontario one can be charged for a weapons charge for squirting a water gun... Thats not what i'm agreeing to , each threat is carefully looked to determine its value....nothing is thrown out because the last one million threats have proved to be limp...the fact that NATO is still very Cautious on what weapons are provided and what restrictions they put on their use...is evident of that...along with the slow role to arm and equip Ukraine... NATO stills takes Russian ability to wage war very serious...As NATO is not as strong as it use to be, a good portion of it's members are in a panic to rearm as they have cashed in on the peace bonds way to hard, and now find themselves unprepared... I think most of his threats say there will be consequences....not sure what they are but every threat he makes has consequences for NATO... Then i misunderstanding your intention behind your statements...because when i read them they imply NATO is now thinking all of Putin's threats are moot points and brush them aside...when that is not the case at all...And not all of NATO is on the same Page on this very topic....with how their weapons are used on russian soil. Yes they have crossed those lines over and over again, But not without some serious conversations and deliberations...And there has been consequences it has made NATO very cautious about crossing those lines to the point it has delayed supplying Ukraine with desperately needed equipment or permissions to use NATO supplied munition on Russian soil...like long range missiles... Impotent is not the word i would use, as i have already said, NATO takes all these threats seriously, they are not just brushed aside as you somehow suggest, the consequences they have is slowing up NATO's suppling of arms or putting restrictions on how these arms are used such as long range missiles, and a whole range of other weapons when used on Russian territory...
