  1. Shinzo Abe is 5' 10''. That is tall for japan. 5' 10'' isn't exactly short for most countries. 5' 3'' isn't short for North Korea. 5' 9'' isn't short for China. If this is the best you could do, it's littered with bad examples. A better way to test the hypothesis of if short men are discriminated against is to look at the entire distribution of leaders relative to the population distribution, or to compare heights with results of elections and perform an econometric analysis while controlling for other explanatory variables.
  2. Aren't there over 1000 pokemon now? I can't keep up.

  4. Yes, rather than appoint political hacks that claim to be in your party, appoint your friends to appoint political hacks that will pretend to be 'independent'. Good way to trick voters. Exactly... which is why abolition is the best option.
  5. So if BC split into 2 provinces, it would get twice as much representation in the senate. This creates an incentive for provinces to split into multiple provinces, which will cause less ability to coordinate policy and increased costs of government per capita.
  6. Maybe we should do away with the provinces. They just duplicate costs and make it difficult to coordinate economic, health, transportation, education and environmental policy.
  7. why? New Zealand has no senate.
  8. The best revenge for the Orlando attacks would be to decriminalize homosexuality globally.
  9. Then support abolition.
  10. Humans lived in tribes for most of human history. That history has influenced the way we evolved and our psychology. There is a subconscious psychological bias in most humans to favour tall men over short men as leaders.
  11. The entire west should commit South Africa apartheid-style sanctions on Saudi Arabia and similar countries until they stop killing gay people, stop imprisoning apostates, let women drive and not have to wear the burka if they want to, stop funding Wahhabism around the world, allow freedom of speech and freedom of religion, etc. We should also seek an alliance with Russia & maybe China to have a more united front against this growing threat.
  12. People have an implicit bias. There are also reason why short men (and tall women) have more difficulty dating, for example. From an evolutionary perspective, an individual in a tribe being taller was a symbol of an individual having gained more nutrition, thus being more fit to lead the tribe.
  13. Don't worry people that have died, our defence minister has told you not to fear ISIS (if it was them). And the west will continue to ignore the main cause (Saudi Arabia) behind the ideology that leads to most of these attacks.
  14. Okay, look at Trudeau's tweet about it: "Canadians are shocked by tonight's attack in Nice. Our sympathy is with the victims, and our solidarity with the French people." He always claims to be 'shocked' about these events and that Canadians are 'shocked'. I'm not shocked, and neither should any other Canadian. These events are expected, no one should be shocked by them.
  15. Surely I'm not the only one becoming desensitized. Now a terrorist attack in South Korea or Japan, that would be news.
  16. This isn't news. Terrorist attacks in France are more common than spring following winter. It's a normal fact of life and we can't do anything about it. I feel sorry for the poor people harmed by this unavoidable incident.
  17. I doubt it. Pierre wasn't the son of a Prime Minister. Also, there are gradual improvements to technology, abundance of food, etc.
  18. There is the wealth effect. Justin Trudeau grew up in a far more luxurious lifestyle than Pierre Trudeau.
  19. I want Canada to leave.
  20. Short people are less likely to be elected.
  21. Expect the Canadian mainstream media to disallow comments on this topic. Can't risk people forming the wrong opinion... Also, people are ignoring the bigger controversy here. 'to our brothers and sisters' is an agendered microaggression. 'to our siblings' would have been more appropriate.
  22. If #alllivesmatter is racist because it ignores racism against blacks then #blacklivesmatter is sexist because it ignores sexism against black men. Black men being killed has more to do with sexism than racism. #allblackmalelivesmatter.

Says the person ignoring the sexist component of the shootings of black men and other men.

You see sexism (only against men, of course) hiding around every corner!

      Tell that to Anita Sarkeesian.

  23. Defensive? Defence from what? Polar bears? If we have a military, its purpose should be offense.
  24. But it's not off topic. The violence against black men has more to do with being men than being black.
  25. Yes. On the other hand, the sentencing gap between men and women is 6 times larger than the racial gap. But the male-female sentencing gap doesn't agree with the social justice narrative, so it gets ignored. And applied even more inconsistently across sex lines. Which do you think would help black men more, addressing the racial gap or the sex gap (which is 6 times larger)? It would be preferable to address both, but groups like BLM will not address the larger of the 2 problems.
