  1. Desire for something better? Altruism?
  2. I don't think it's likely. There was no evidence that he became a follower of the 7, or that he is going to King's Landing, and with the preacher dead I don't see how he would be able to get there alive given that there is probably a ransom on him. More likely, he is going to get revenge on the brotherhood without banners and go around the riverlands attacking bandits or something. Probably, someone like Lancel will face the mountain in trial by combat, and then lose. I think Loras will also demand trial by combat, and will likely win.
  3. If MLW does that, I'm out of here.
  4. It's a good way to prevent non-mainstream views from being expressed in order to help control the narrative. Especially as SJWs will use online comments they disagree with to try to get others fired from their jobs. Oh well, this is the natural progression of the CBC. -> People making comments we don't like on certain stories? Arbitrarily disallow comments on certain stories. -> People voicing dissenting opinions on Aboriginal issues and think that people should be equal under the law? Ban all comments from aboriginal issues. -> People having conversations in the comment section, which might cause people to change their position on an issue? Delay comments for hours and have every comment looked at by a moderator, because that's the best use of tax payer money. I've never posted on the CBC site, but it is interested to occasionally read comments.
  5. The BC tax on CO2 emissions has been relatively successful and the taxation level is reasonable (from what I recall, it's only cost about 0.3% of GDP, and $30 per metric ton is in line with the best literature on the optimal level of taxation). Unfortunately, Ontario and Quebec plan to go for cap-and-trade because they can't understand that a pigouvian tax has lower implementation costs. Not to mention provincially and federally, many in power are going around banning things, be it pipelines, fracking, potential LNG plants, tankers, coal, natural gas, non-electric vehicles, etc. This is far less efficient than a simple tax.
  6. That's what you are referring to? All the liberals did is say that they need the support of 1 opposition party (Green, Bloc or NDP). I have no idea why you think FPTP isn't dead by 2019.
  7. No, I do not. Please provide a link.
  8. You realize that the Trudeau government has declared that 2019 will not be a FPTP election, right?
  9. On the other hand, Trudeau declared in an interview before being elected that the problem with Canada is that Albertans are in government, Canada belongs to Quebec and that if Albertans continue to stay in power he would support separation of Quebec. And today due to all the hostile anti-Alberta policies federally, Alberta separatism has increased greatly. Realistically, the best option is for O'Leary to run as deputy PM and partner with someone who can speak french. Maxime Bernier doesn't have the best English, maybe they could partner and Bernier does the French debates while O'Leary does the English debates.
  10. No. The objective is to form government. Let's take 2 scenarios: 1. Unified Conservative party gets 45% of the vote since it doesn't alienate Social Conservatives, doesn't form government. 2. Moderate Conservative party gets 40% of the vote, Christian Heritage party gets 15% of the vote. The Moderate Conservative party gets to form government despite getting less vote share due to alienating Social Conservatives. I could construct any number of scenarios and you can replace the parties with whatever you want. But under a proportional system, it makes more sense for parties to split into multiple parties in order to maximize the vote share. Like take the Democrats in the USA. Many Sanders supporters won't vote Clinton and many Clinton supporters won't vote Sanders. But if they had a proportional system then the Democratic party could split into 2 parties, and the Sanders supporters would vote for the Sanders' party while the Clinton supporters would vote for the Clinton party. No one would be alienated so you would get a larger vote share.
  11. Under a proportional system, why does it matter if vote share is ceded to the Christian Heritage?
  12. You are creating a false dichotomy of positions here.
  13. What is a 'true conservative'? Seems to vary based on who you talk to. As far as I am concerned, conservatism is the irrational preference for the status quo.
  14. Simple, support proportional representation and let the Conservative Party split into multiple parties. Then these parties will have the option to form coalitions with other parties in order to govern.
  15. I know. They should know that only violence against men is accepted. That's how equality works in crazy feminist land.
  16. Change "God keep our land" to "Humans keep our land". Change "Il sait porter la croix" to "Nous portons quoi nous voulons porter". Change "Et ta valeur, de foi trempée" to "Et ta valeur, de liberté trempée".
  17. And these same people wouldn't be upset over women choking men. That's equality works in our society.
  18. Men are 3.5 times as likely to be victims of homicide. But our society is so gynocentric that somehow that doesn't matter, because in 1 category of homicide females are killed at a higher rate. Society has been implying it for decades.
  19. The authoritarian EU wants to police the internet and remove anything they find offensive. I guess we continue the slow march towards an Orwellian state. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/may/31/facebook-youtube-twitter-microsoft-eu-hate-speech-code
  20. But women choking men is empowering!
  21. It needs to die. Glad to see Maxime Bernier has come around to reason. Too bad Martha Hall Findlay didn't win the liberal leadership contest. She was truly principled and recognized the stupidity of supply management.
  22. I love how cybercoma completely ignores my points about sex and goes on about race in order to pretend what I wrote doesn't exist.
  23. Most of my job applications disagree. Why do millennial women out-earn millennial men? Why is the male youth unemployment rate much higher than the female youth unemployment rate? Why are young women 33% more likely to go to university than young men? Why is that a 2:1 hiring advantage for women (http://www.pnas.org/content/112/17/5360.abstract)? There have been studies that have shown a preference for female names on resumes over the past 10 years. Look, I know what the average attitude in Canada on hiring preferences is. Heck, many posters on this website have admitted given 2 similarly qualified candidates (1 male and 1 female), they will always choose the female, and feel all good and morally superior in doing so. I get it, young men are supposed to be scapegoated for the sins of the past, and a large segment of the population will feel all smug and socially just in doing so. Social justice is nothing more than the moral failure to recognize people as individuals. This may surprise you, but people are individuals. And I wasn't alive back in ancient times like you were.
  24. Maybe that's the point. There are no miracles. There are simply different laws of physics. And if some people can't make people rise from the dead, then why wouldn't others be able to repeat that elsewhere? For example, perhaps the chaotic winters / summers are due to the planet being in a binary system with a star and a black hole or something. And 'magic' is powered by some sort of radiation (again, different laws of physics) coming from the black hole, so it only gets powerful when the planet gets closer to the black hole.
  25. Because... 100 years ago white men were privileged or something. White men have historic privilege! Therefore, to correct for this we need to discriminate against young white men today. That is the socially just thing to do!
