It is facinating to see Canadians talk about their national breakup in the terminology of when, not if. I think the world if evolving into economic partnerships which transcend national borders. I was interested to see that Japan is building car factories in Canada. I thought they only built in nonunion areas, and I thought of Canada as a union type area (similar to Michigan).

I am using Firefox and the link did not work for me. I did not chase it into IE. I did not get to hear Annie's rant. I have seen plenty of posters lamenting Canada's situation here on this board. If her comments matched those posts from here, so be it. What false reports? No clue as to what they are talking about? In your opinion perhaps. Fox News is owned by an AUSTRALIAN. If people did not like its manner, they would not watch it, its ratings would go down, it would lose money, and it would report differently. Fact is, many people do not find its reporting is not accurate. The commentators are not reporting the news, they comment on it. Again, don't listen to it. I think you could say it is disfunctional to not to deal with terrible crime in a manner appropriate to the crime for FEAR of doing harm. The socialism in Canada is supported in part by NO military, which is tolerated because of proximity to the US. The Iraq dysfunction is in part from 911 which DID NOT Happen in Canada. That is how I take it, and in the country of Quebec English is a minority language, and they are even more strict there over its use than in France itself. For some reason, Quebec does not receive the kind of immigration of nonFrench speaking people so as to change that balance. In Miami there is as much spanish signage as english. But of course, Quebec being a country within a country, would limit immigration into it if such a shift would look possible.

Also, they are not the 'English speaking majority' in Quebec, they are the minority. The only answer to that problem is a major influx of non French speaking people into Quebec so that French is no longer the majority language. Maybe Canada would like ALOT of Mexicans.

This is worse than affirmative action. You can not change your race, but you can THEORITICALLY change your language skill, so you can use it as a basis for discrimination. Actually, Canada is not the only country in the world with two official languages. Switzerland is one. It would be interesting to discover how they handle their language problem. They have three official languages. I am sure they do not have trilingualists in every position.

Crackdowns. I had no idea that there was such stuff going on in Canada. I would think that as with affirmative action, if a percentage of the population was such and such, that percentage should be reflected in the jobs available. If 80% of the people were english speaking, 80% of the jobs should go to them, but I guess that is not how it works in Canada.

Kind of like the tail wagging the dog, I would say. In my humble opinion, I think separation might be a good thing. In Canada affirmative action is not built on race, but language. You just do not call it affirmative action. In the end, the issue is more than DISCRIMINATION, it is control of the destiny of the country.

Our primeminister does NOT legally have to be bilingual; it is just advisable if he wants to get the votes from both. That's the point. There are more English speaking than French speaking in Canada, and probably even fewer bilingual speaking. There would be a greater probability that a French speaking Canadian would be bilingual, and guess what: French speaking control of the Canadian Federal Government.

With the advent of Rathergate, what constitutes factual claims? Is not one persons personal experiences factual? Look at Mr. anticlimates postings and call them factual, or some of the others. It seems like some use the coat of 'forum rules' to protect them from the harsh wind of truth, when it suits them.
