  1. I think that the comparison between VietNam and Iraq is that there is a civil war going on. In Iraq the civil war started when that Golden Mosque was bombed, which was its intent. In Viet Nam, the north wanted a unified country, more than the south wanted their independence. The US could not stop a civil war, especially when the north was well supplied. In the case of Iraq, the US can not stop a civil war, especially when the sides are well supplied. The US wins every battle, but can not win an endless war when blood is no object. The US can only propup a government so long. The US did not loose in Viet Nam, the south VietNamese did not want democracy enough. In the same way, if Iraq does not stabilize, THEY do not want democracy enough. In that way, Iraq is like Viet Nam, IMO.
  2. I think that Lieberman being Jewish, is also a supporter of Israel. Iraq is in the Middle East. A stable Middle East is in the best interest of Israel, and probably the rest of the world. Lieberman was defeated in the primary because of the issue of Iraq, not Bush and economic policy.
  3. You are with out a doubt one of the crudest posters I have enountered. I do not believe this forum is monitored at all. You are crude, rude, and dense. As in like a brick. Your brilliance is in your mind. And your wife, I am not even going there.
  4. You one hell of a debater. I hereby admit that I was full of it, and you are a wonderful debater. I feel honored to have been beaten by you. Silly me to sully your wonderful forum.
  5. You love the word idiot. It demeans you. It shows that you have lost it. Sorry As far as troll. What is a troll. You set up a forum Canada/US Relations, subtopic Americans insult Canadians, with no substance to the heading, and say I am trolling. The other topic Canadians insult Americans had an instance of a little league hockey game where American children were insulted, together with their American parents. You say I got some facts wrong. So what, or did you mistake sarcasm for factual mistakes. As stated by another, there was a free seat on the bus, and Canada is along for the ride. What I dislike about Canada is the fact that it uses, sometimes inadvertently, its position to make designer laws or positions to benefit it, at the same time undermine the US. One example is prohabition. Canada set up laws to allow the EXPORT only of liquor during prohabition. Obviously, great benefit to Canada. It is kind of like Iran or Syria sending explosives to Iraq. Another is the legalized gambling on the border cities, targeting Americans, well before legalized gambling in the US. Canada forced the gambling issue into the US. But no gambling in Toronto. No advertising in Toronto. And on and on. Even this FREE TRADE is not FREE TRADE Canadian style. As far as your wife, I am sure she loves you. But with a name like KillJoy she might be the only one who does, except in your mind. As far as movies, start your own movie industry, instead of stealing the work with subsidized shoots.
  6. Your time is valuable. So is mine. This I do for relaxation. I am not on the clock, and neither are you. Run from YOU, hehehe. As far as being loved, maybe by your wife.
  7. No Mr. KillJoy, you are the idiot. You have some romantic view of Canada as the defender of free world. It has long since degenerated into a bickering group, appendaged to the US, but disliking it, and enjoying its perceived position as the moral compass of North America. No longer would it be first to battle, and as indicated above, the know it all attitude is obvious.
  8. So much for Canadian civility.
  9. Again you ignore what was said and try and argue something that was not said. I think that calls for another review: -You said you were unaware that Canadian troops were overseas then try and claim you knew they were in Afghanistan. -You thought we only had small arms. -You call us pacifists despite the self-evident fact that we aren't, (Afghanistan – which you didn’t know about, WWI, WWII [10% of our population – more than any other ally], Korea and on and on). Anytime you're ready to argue what is said instead of what you wish was said just let me know, k? Again please explain the logic behind your contention we have a 'pacifist nature' when we've engaged in practically every conflict you have. There isn't any logic to it. 1. You insist on calling me an idiot. Not good. I have not done such to you. 2. I checked out your link and I appreciate your position, THEN. 3. You refuse to read my words which said SURPRISED, I believe. 4. I have no idea what weaponry you fellows have, but your government, like many has NOT had to invest in military equipment, because it does not have to, and it knows it. Any idiot knows that. 5. I call you a pacifist nation because YOU ARE. You are a very different country than the 40s, 50s. No longer could your country be mobilized for a major conflict. Face it. 6. As far as arguing with you, I have my opinion and you have yours. Soon I will go into another two year hibernation, and things will return to normal for you.
  10. Personal attack. Personal attack. Canada was in WWII before the US. You were pissed off when we did not commit when you did back then. Since then Canada has become a very different country. Yes you do have a pacifist nature in the present. Switzerland does also, but they do not have governmental supported agent like the CBC making potshots. As far as Canadians in A, I said I was, and am surprised they went there given CAnada's pacifist nature.
  11. Maybe you should stop listening to Rush. What does Rush Limbaugh have to do with anything. You don't like him. Do you disagree with him. Do you ever listen to him?
  12. And yet more Canadians went down to the states to volunteer to go to Vietnam than Americans who came up here to skip the draft. Maybe you should stop listening to Rush. Canadaians joining the American military has nothing to do with harboring draft dodgers, silly. We are talking about Canadian national policy, I thought.
  13. Frankly, since we're all talking about insults here, I'm a little insulted that as an American you didn't know we had troops in Afghanistan, let alone that we are suffering the highest per capita casualty rate there. I certainly knew they were there, I said I am surprised that they were there given Canada's pacifist nature.
  14. You have a big country. Many military ranges. Why go to A to do target practice?????
  15. It is one thing to not be involved, and it another to be culpable in actively working to defeat. VietNam, harboring draft dodgers. Iraq, the CBC, government mouthpiece, is not much better than Al Jazerra.
  16. BS. Just look around your forum to discover the belittling you talk about. This forum Canada/US Relations is a set aside for US bashing. A number of casuaties in A resulted in friendly fire when night fire target exercises were conducted with tracer rounds. I would think that you would NOT go there for target practice. And the running out of them (friends) is a BS since like France, Germany, and Canada they were questionable to begin with.
  17. So this explains why Canada remains distant from US with regard to foreign policy.
  18. The inevitable being the absorbtion of Western culture by Middle Eastern culture? I am not familiar with the 'Charter of Rights and Freedoms'. What changes did it bring which are detrimental to the English speaking majority?
  19. In the past, under previous ownership, they would spend the money, but got little for it. I think that the bankrupcy was a good thing because when Gallisano took over, money was an object. They have no stars (yet) and the money issue is (still) in balance.
  20. I must say jefferiah that you are the most measured Canadian poster I have seen of late. I have been a member of this forum for about two years, but I have very few posts for that length of time. In the past I remember the forum as fairly balanced. There are a few who I remember from a couple of years ago, but posters come and go, and the forum is more antiAmerican than I remember it. I know that Canada elected a new Prime Minister, and I think he is an improvement over the past two. Perhaps the electorate is changing also. As far as Iraq being the cause of some of this, I think they had an obligation to check the sewer out, but I wish they would have just left after six months. I do not think they had any obligation to see them into the light of democracy.
  21. What respect, that non English speaking countries are also developed? That the English language is irrelevant to economic achievement? That an island nation like NZ is well developed, and happens to speak English, and there are many other island nations which are basket cases, but this has nothing to do with language? Oh, and I shall pay better attention in the future. lol.
  22. Frankly, I am surprised that Canada has any troops abroad. I may be wrong, but does the Canadian miliary number 50000, and their weaponry consist of small arms. The idea that big nations should act as peacekeepers is a post WWII idea, and not everyone is on board with the idea.
  23. Buffalo got some revenge when the smoked the Flyers, and their coach Hitchcock got fired. The same coach who coached Dallas, I believe, during that series. And then they got some revenge against Carolina by beating them 2x, and one by a shootout I believe.
  24. Canada is unique among the 5 because it is at least one third French speaking. It is officially a bilingual country, and it seems to be reflected in its politics.
  25. The issue is language and population. Japan has a very different language than any in Europe. Even Norway and Sweden speak a different language. At this time, English is the international language. French was a one time. Someday maybe Manderin or Hindi.
