Given that "Hillary is sleazy" is apparently the only reason you guys can provide as to why people should vote for Trump, isn't "Trump is MORE sleazy" all the response necessary? -k

If this is what he's doing to control the media news cycle, I'm imagine that Hillary and her advisors are extremely happy to let him keep control of it. There's an old adage that "there's no such thing as bad publicity", but there's another old adage that "when you find yourself in a hole, the first thing you need to do is stop digging." Somebody (was it someone here? I can't recall where I read the comment) suggested that Trump wins if the election is about Hillary, and Hillary wins if the election is about Trump, but Hillary wants the election to be about Trump, and Trump also wants the election to be about Trump. I think that's a very astute observation, it's just how this is playing out. He just has to be the center of attention. He can't not be the center of attention. Kelly-Anne Conway got Trump back into the race by convincing him to stay on script so that people would forget what a boor he is, or to keep his mouth shut so that people would remember how much they hate Hillary. But in the past week he's clearly gone off the rail and decided to be more Trump-like. I imagine that Ms Conway is tearing her hair out right now. -k

I point out that "Clinton Cash" is a Steve Bannon production because many people seem so eager to point out others' biases while being blind to their own. Their might well be some objective facts in your little documentary. Then again, there are also some objective facts in the "mainstream media" coverage you're so dismissive of. If you're going to dismiss mainstream media reports because "oh they're so biased", how can you complain when others don't want to watch your Steve Bannon/Breitbart documentary? -k

Because they're a collection of players from countries like Slovakia, Germany, Denmark, Norway, and Switzerland-- countries that are nobodies in the international hockey community. And they had never played as a team before. Nobody gave them a chance. Everybody thought the idea was a joke. It would have been easy for them to treat it like a joke. Instead, they bonded together and built a team identity, and defeated powerhouses like USA, Sweden, and the Czechs. They were the only team that gave Canada a serious challenge. For these players, "Team Europe" was probably their only chance to win an international tournament, because none of these countries will ever field a winning team in the Olympics. But for just a couple of weeks, they got to be contenders. It's kind of like a real-life version of The Replacements. -k

You guys say you're champions of freedom, yet you want to tell a grown woman what she can or can't wear? You guys say you're champions of small government, yet you see a state role in deciding what kind of headwear is ok or not ok? And you don't see a contradiction? Really? I find that really interesting. Perhaps Doctor von Quack has a point after all. Not sure what liberals want to ban sugary or fatty foods. I've heard of campaigns to get school vending machines to stop selling junk food, but never an outright ban. Freedom-loving conservatives will go to the wall to defend peoples' rights to smoke whatever they want, provided it's tobacco, and to use whatever inebriating substance they like, provided it's alcohol. Gosh, not sure how we got from marijuana to safe injection sites, unless you're under the impression that marijuana is injected. Support for safe injection sites is due to the evidence-based conclusion that safe injection sites stop preventable deaths and offer a path to treatment for addicts. You guys say you're champions of freedom, yet you want the government to be able to decide what people can or can't read and watch? You say you're believers in small government, yet you see a government role in deciding what people can or can't read and watch? And you don't see a contradiction? Who is being "forced" into anything? We already have laws against sexual exploitation of minors which are vigorously enforced, sometimes overly-vigorously. And existing laws can also be used to protect people who've been forced into sex acts through whatever means. Most of the performers in the sex entertainment business are there of their own volition and are paid pretty well for it from what I hear. You want to tell a grown woman she can't dance naked on stage for money, or be photographed nude for money, or have sex on film for money? You're the freedom-people? You want to dictate what consenting adults can view because somebody's grandchild might get "corrupted"? You're sure you're the freedom people? Pornography? That's a public health crisis! Action needs to be taken! Guns? We have to live with these thousands of deaths, because freedom. Not a contradiction? As for prostitution... receiving money for sex has been found to be constitutional. Paying money for sex has also been found to be constitutional. One thing that hasn't been found constitutional is walking up to people on the street and offering them money for sex. So if you're wondering why the "johns" are generally the victims of stings, that's why. As for the idea of providing prostitutes safe, legal places to ply their trade, that's somewhat like the safe injection sites: it's based on the idea that the problem won't go away but could be handled in a way that results in better outcomes for everybody. Personally I think Islam is stupid and wrong about just about everything, particularly the idea of stoning gay people to death. However, I also know that not all Muslims have the same views, and that childish ideas like "ban them all!" or "send them all back!" or "make them convert!" aren't solutions to anything. All of them? -k

"Mainstream media is too biased! You guys need to watch this video produced by Steve Bannon, Trump's campaign CEO." -k

As I mentioned earlier, how freedom-loving small-government supporters who want to outlaw hijabs and marijuana? How about the small-government, freedom-loving Republican Party platform calling for the government to fight pornography in their 2016 platform? How about small-government, freedom-loving Rick Perry's repeated efforts to fight to keep sodomy a crime during his time as Texas Governor? How about other freedom-loving small-government conservatives who also stand firm behind anti-sodomy laws? How is possible to reconcile the ideas of "freedom" and "small government" with criminalizing what consenting adults do in their own bedrooms? -k

MLW poll for the 1st Presidential debate
kimmy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
You were the one most enthusiastically promoting the theory that she was gravely ill. Surely you must have been a little disappointed that she appeared completely healthy? -k -
I think it's pretty amazing that Team Europe did so well. What an amazing story! -k

Off the top of my head, Neil DeGrasse-Tyson, Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, and the President all come to mind. I'm sure there are plenty of others as well. Allen West certainly isn't one of them. Dude's a moron. -k

MLW poll for the 1st Presidential debate
kimmy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
There's a big difference between scientific polls and online polls where people get to vote as many times as they want. Thinking back to the 2012 election Republican boosters got themselves into a tizzy, telling everyone how the mainstream polls were all biased and wrong, how the Republicans had the real data, how Nate Silver was wrong and dumb and homosexual, and how surprised everybody was going to be on election night when Romney won. Of course as it turned out the polls were right and the Republican claims to the contrary were wrong and Nate Silver's analysis was right virtually down to a county-by-county level. And now here you guys are again, going down the same path where there's no objective information available and data is democratized so that we can pick which facts we like and which we ignore. Clearly you guys didn't learn anything. -k -
I disagree. Calling West what he is isn't racist. I think pretending that West is a smart guy is patronizing to black people. -k

The claim is that liberals have a mental disorder because some of them believe things that are contradictory? But it's easy to find examples of conservatives who hold beliefs that are contradictory as well. I guess everybody has mental disorders? I gather this is a book written by a fake psychologist being hawked on WorldNutDaily? I think getting one's news from WorldNutDaily might also be a sign of mental disorder. -k

Carson is bughouse loco and West is so dense that if you hit him over the head with a 2x4 on Tuesday he'd say "ow!" on Friday. Allen West is one of the few people in American politics who would be a worse candidate for POTUS than Trump! -k

I don't place Hillary on a pedestal. I'm aware that she has her flaws. I feel that both candidates are bad, and it's a case of the lesser of two evils. I recently heard someone compare it to "choosing between a heart attack and a stroke", but I'd compare it to more like choosing between a migraine and a massive brain aneurysm. Hillary is a flawed but competent politician. Trump is a gigantic joke, a narcissistic clown, a carnie, a buffoon, a Gong Show reject, a guy who has been in the public eye for decades and proven every step of the way what an utterly despicable individual he is. With Hillary we get more of the same, which isn't great but isn't bad. With Trump we get a trainwreck that could throw the United States into economic and social chaos and drag Canada along with it. -k

MLW poll for the 1st Presidential debate
kimmy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Every real poll since the debate has shown Hillary regaining the lead since the debate. Even Fox News poll showed the same. Michael linked to it a page back. Here's a summary of recent polling, showing Hillary gaining ground in key states. While the non-scientific online polls brigaded by basement dwelling teams from 4chan did show Trump winning, scientific polling shows Hillary won... even the Fox News poll. And while Kelly-Anne Conway had been able to get Trump to act like a normal person for several weeks leading up to the debate, he's clearly gone off the rails again. Staying up all night hate-tweeting about a former beauty-pageant winner is both pathetic and hilarious. What a loser. Conway must be tearing her hair out right now. I see Trump has also withdrawn his vow to respect the results of the election, replacing it with an "I don't know, we'll see." That lasted for 5 whole days... -k -
The mental gymnastics required to be a Trump supporter must be exhausting. "I don't find Hillary trustworthy! That's why I'm supporting the biggest liar in America!" "The Clinton Foundation is pretty sketchy! I'm supporting the guy who uses his registered charity as a personal slush-fund!" "Hillary has had shady business! That's why I'm supporting the biggest scam-artist in America!" "Hillary was mean to those women. That's why I'm supporting the legendary philanderer and misogynist!" -k

MLW poll for the 1st Presidential debate
kimmy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Why would you assume the enthusiasm of the relatively tiny portion of the populace that attends rallies in person would make any sort of statement about the voting preference about the large portion of the populace that doesn't? -k -
MLW poll for the 1st Presidential debate
kimmy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
A poll is only as valid as its sample selection. Online polls are kind of a joke, because they're easily manipulated. Well-known examples include Rory Fitzpatrick and John Scott getting named to the NHL all-star game, a pro wrestler getting voted Time Man of the Year. The 4chan message board has a long history of this, and were at it again in the online debate polls. In regard to the post debate polls: You're certainly free to believe those polls if you wish, but given the hilarious history of online polls and the fact that pro-Trump groups made a concerted effort to game these polls after the debate I'd suggest that skepticism might be warranted. The first real polls following the debate seem to be showing that Hillary has regained the lead over Trump. That's probably more indicative of who really won the debate. -k -

MLW poll for the 1st Presidential debate
kimmy replied to Moonlight Graham's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Trump supporters were expecting Hillary to show signs of medical distress, or have coughing fits, or pass out. Or start crying in the face of Manly-Man's swaggering style. They had really talked themselves into believing that she was on death's door... and that the debate would show everybody how sick she was. It didn't happen, so I'm assuming Trump boosters must be pretty disappointed overall. -k -
God does not want our love. God wishes only to serve man
kimmy replied to freekundli's topic in Religion & Politics
There's several parts in his bio where people get smitten or stoned to death for not loving him. Also, that thing with the flood. He demands love, and gets mad if he doesn't get it. He's one jealous mofo. He's like that crazy ex who won't respect a restraining order. -k -
How about Small Government Freedom-Loving types who want to ban hijabs and pot? -k

Sure. But these banner ads were paid for by the Trump campaign, and when campaigns put ads on websites it's almost always to ask for donations. I get 3 emails a day from the RNC and/or College Republicans asking for donations. It's a thing political parties do. They solicit donations. -k -

They do have their own in-house Catholic priest! Fr John Morris! His parish is Bill O'Reilly's green room. I bet his confessional has heard some interesting stories. -k
