  1. Those are electoral ridings though. By that map you can easily see the 'red' party (Saenuri) has the most votes in the most number of ridings. I like the idea that the ruling party regularly changes who the PM is in South Korea. In recent times at least, our leaders tend to hang on way too long in good times, usually relinquishing power only if it looks like their popularity was waning.
  2. No, that is still the law. Maximum of fours years for minorities, exactly four years for majorities.
  3. There is no doctor shortage in Canada. We've got more of them now than we ever have, a large number of them out of work and unable to find a job in the profession. Doctor numbers in Canada at all-time high http://www.cbc.ca/ne...da-report.html The Unemployed Doctor Show http://www.cbc.ca/wh...d-doctor-show/ The real issue, as already explained in this thread, is geography. Allocating resources over such a large expanse of land that is so sparsely populated is a logistical nightmare.
  4. So people who aren't getting paid to claim they believe in AGW? That increases their credibility.
  5. Bagged milk used to be really common coast-to-coast. I haven't seen any ANYWHERE in several decodes though. There's definitely none in Manitoba. Do they still sell it in Ontario?
  6. They are cooperating where its appropriate. The problem is, EC and the opposition are asking for access to info they simply cannot have. The "election fraud" meme is just a smokescreen for what they really want: an inside look at CPCs increasingly successful election strategies.
  7. War is terrible with loses on both sides. Israel cannot pick a fight and use human shields then cry foul when Jews die. They created this situation and must accept the consequences of their actions.
  8. They absolutely do, I know that for a fact. Anyone can volunteer, and people walk in off the street offering their help all the time. There is no expectation for that person to be a party member.
  9. It's ethnic cleansing.
  10. What other areas do they have left that Israel hasn't stolen yet? They are launching their defences from the places they are being attacked by Israel.
  11. Merlin: This was Mixed martial Arts. The event was UFC 154. The headliner was the welterweight world title. The champion, Canadian fighter Georges St-Pierre, was returning after a long layoff for surgery and rehab for a very serious knee injury. He didn't get a tuneup fight either, first fight back was against the number one guy for title. About the event: One of the judges gave round 3 to Condit for getting 20 seconds of offense in. That tells you how lopsided it was, if any attack at all seemed substantial compared to the rest of the fight. Still, Condit came to fight. Best test for Georges in years. He made a fan out of me, and he was so gracious in defeat post fight as well. A real class act. Georges' timing is so amazing. His boxing is good enough that you have to stand up and defend, but as soon as you do, you're on your back eating elbows. The ground game is a thing of beauty too. People who call GSP boring are truly idiotic. There was a real chess match going on on the ground. It was a high level jiu-jitsu match with some striking thrown in. A great event overall too. Hendricks KO was unreal, so was Menjivar's belly-down arm bar.
  12. No kidding. Even if you have no intention of staying at the job at that pay, I'd much rather have it while looking for the next job.
  13. Israel launched the first rockets and now they are crying foul when Palestine defends itself. This is typical behaviour from the right wing types who defend Israel. Israel is a terrorist state yet many posters here take their side. Interesting.
  14. Unions are a cancer. They have only themselves to blame when all those people lose their jobs, AND all those retired people lose their pensions. Let's see the union step up and pay those people. No, they'd never do that because they don't ever GIVE anything, they just take. The union bosses will keep THEIR jobs. It's ridiculous the power unions have, OF COURSE you should be able to fire people for not doing the job they are asked to do, or for not accepting the terms the employer dictates. Just because you have a right to assemble, doesn't mean you should have the right to hold a company hostage.
  15. Fixed that for you.
  16. Blasphemer.
  17. Talk about a biased headline. We already know who was doing the Robocalling in Guelph, and it was a Liberal.
  18. I think I have something of a love-hate relationship with the U.S. I have family, and good friends who are Americans, and a I know a lot of other people I care about who are just great human being who live down there. More than 90% of my business comes from the US too, and I take vacation time in the U.S. several times a year. BUT.... I hate their political system and their foreign policy. And the TSA. I'll drive to the US, but I won't fly there anymore.
  19. None of that is true. I have both Google maps and Youtube apps on my iPhone running iOS 6.
  20. I'll give the content providers one chance to take my money. If I'm refused simply due to my location, I've got no compunction about finding "other" venues to watch. The funny part about Netflix is, lately in many cases the Canadian version has had better selection than the American one. Just prior to the release of The Avengers, I went and watched Captain America, Thor, and IronMan 2 on Netflix. When I mentioned this to some people I know in the US, they practically called me a liar, because those movies were not available on Netflix in the uS.
  21. Just finished "The Twelve" by Justin Cronin (part two of the "The Passage series). Not nearly as good as the first one, but still one of the better fiction books I've read in a long time. http://enterthepassage.com
  22. That's a common misconception. Macs cost more than building a PC yourself, but if you buy a high-end "pro" Windows laptop, and configure it spec-for-spec, you'd be surprised how much they can cost. For example, I just bought a new Macbook Pro last week. To spec out an Alienware laptop with their online configurator, matching it spec-for-spec with my Mac, the Alienware comes out to be almost $1000 more, and it was still missing several features that could not be added.
  23. I too originally used only my real name on all online sites. Things are just different now. Lately I've been moving away from that. Even on some of the boards that I've been a part of since "the beginning" , I've been changing my user info. There's no chance I'd ever join a new board using either my real name or my real contact info. A board the requires this is deliberately trying to limit how many people join.
  24. It is a great system, and it's working quite well here. Cutting taxes has done exactly what Harper and Flaherty said it would: caused an increase in government revenues.
  25. Initial polls predicted that Ignatieff would get a majority too. As soon as he started talking, that lead evaporated. Besides, this particular poll is conducted by Forum Research. Check their track record. In the last three elections they have been wrong by the widest of margins. They try to form public opinion rather than report on it.
