Is "stopstaaron" your real name? You would have to assume you are breaking some law therefore you created another persona for yourself otherwise why would you hide behind a pseudonym?

A private citizen working for a private company doesn't want media attention. How is it a red flag? Lots of people don't use use their real names online. Is "stopstaaron" your real name?

NDP drug shortage motion gets government's support

I suspect that's what it really boils down to. -
Most english speakers find the verb conjugation in French to be so confusing that they quit even trying to learn it very early in the process. I have found French to be quite difficult to learn beyond the bare basics. I've taken it in school my whole life, and I never did really "get" it. I could get by enough to not starve in rural Quebec, but that was about it. I'm finding Spanish to be significantly easier to learn by comparison.

That certainly is one of the purposes of such ad campaigns.

It's particularly absurd when you consider that stop signs in France just say "STOP". Or Tagalog, or Plattdüütsch. Add Portuguese and Russian to that to cover the BRIC countries. Spanish if ALBA becomes a major trading block.

I haven't donated in a while, but this move has certainly made me consider that it might be time.

The opposition and the media have been barraging the Conservatives with a constant onslaught of ridiculous allegations, I see nothing wrong with them coming back with a little reminder for Canadians of what their alternatives are. They speak to three levels of supporters. It rallies the base, for sure. It also reaches out to all Ontario voters regardless of their affiliations. This is important when you consider there will be several more seats to vie for in Ontario soon. It also reaches out to the "soft" CPC vote, people who might be swayed by the fake scandalettes. They are reminded that even if you don't really like us all that much, just remember things would be a lot worse with the other guy. The ads work to define Rae both with the Canadian electorate and his party. It sows dissent within Liberal ranks. If Rae wins the leadership, he's already been Dion'ed, and will be a lame duck before he starts. If not, each successive Liberal leader will still likely have a shorter rope than the last. If your three consecutive TOP guys have all been dispatched (each more easily than the last), how much confidence will you have when a guy that's NOT your top choice is in the top job? The knives will be pre-sharpened. If you believe that, you should be encouraging more of it.

Plenty of Conservatives were called during the campaign, and told to go to the wrong polls. It was the Conservatives who first brought the complaint forward. I didn't answer the question, because it's based on a false premise. The calls were made to all parties, not just non-conservatives.

It's not my statistics. Doctor numbers in Canada at all-time high More physicians than ever; greatest percentage increase in physicians in 20 years Physician supply increasing twice as quickly as Canadian population The rate of growth in the supply of physicians is more than double that of the Canadian population, and the current supply is literally the highest it's ever been. I'm 44, and live in a smaller city (Winnipeg). I grew up in a small northern town (Flin Flon). I've posted my experiences with the healthcare system here before. I've just never seen or experienced these shortages. We have five doctors between the four of us in my household. We can always get in to see any one of them within a day. -
Vote: How do you feel about crime in Canada?
Bryan replied to MiddleClassCentrist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree with this. Perhaps the middle ground might be for personal possession and use of these substances to be fully up to the individual user, while keeping if not stiffening penalties for producing and/or distributing them--especially to minors. -
Plenty of Conservative supporters were targeted too. It was the Conservatives who first brought forth the complaints of Robocalls about moved polling stations during the election. It wasn't until they discovered that other parties may have also been affected that Elections Canada deemed it worth their while to look into it.

Parliament not sitting for a few weeks is not going to interfere with Canadians' daily lives. Parliament takes long breaks all the time. It only legally has to sit once every 12 months. Not only can people go about their daily activities when parliament is not in session, very few people would even know when it is or is not sitting. Even when it is sitting, there are often long drawn out stalemates where nothing gets done (especially under a minority). Proroguing to reset a session that's going nowhere is a long standing mechanism that has been employed many times by previous governments. It's been done 105 times. Sir John A MacDonald did it, Chretien did it 4 times.

There's a difference. The LPC and NDP calls are proven facts that the parties even admit to. The calls supposedly coming from Conservatives are still as yet unfounded, unproven accusations coming from the people we already know ARE guilty. Many of these accusations have already been retracted and apologized for by the NDP and the media. Some of them are the subject of defamation lawsuits too.
-
If it is proven that the federal Conservative Party did it, conservative voters will probably be disappointed to some degree, but I don't think they'll really care very much. I highly doubt it would change very many votes. It's not as if there is a credible alternative option out there. Besides, there's no evidence so far that the Conservatives did any of the things they're accused of. We do, on the other hand, know for a fact that other parties were involved in these things.

I never understood what the actual crime was either. You don't want those kinds of people underground anyway, you want it right out in the open so you know who to avoid. Besides, the books he published are still available, some of them are even carried on Amazon. Why is that OK?

A lot of people feel that way about us having to know french too. French is really not of much use to me as I never go anywhere or deal with anything that would require it. I do, however, travel to Latin America at least once a year. It would be far more useful for me to have better spanish skills.

You have that right. The level of 'enforcement' of bilingualism varies by region, as does the definition of bilingualism. Here in Manitoba, official recognition of both french and english was a condition of our joining confederation, yet we still are not federally designated as "Officially Bilingual" the way New Brunswick is. The only way i can explain it, is we maintain bilingualism, but we don't enforce it. All govt services are in both languages, our stop signs say both STOP and ARRET, we learn french in school, etc. Despite all that, it's exceptionally rare to encounter people speaking french in a public setting. The neighbourhood I live in is "the" french quarter of the province, and in 20 yrs living here, I've only been addressed in french twice. Both of those were by recent immigrants (one from France, one from Africa).

I haven't flown Air Canada in many years. I've even changed my travel plans in order to make sure that I had other flight options.

NDP drug shortage motion gets government's support
Bryan replied to mentalfloss's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Because most of them haven't bothered to really look for one. There are more doctors in Canada now than there have ever been. They don't have to. I can get in to see my doctor within a day. I can get x-rays the same day, I got an MRI within 6 days a few months back. Because they go there when they don't have an emergency. -

No it's incredible that the NDP took the time to actually propose something worth supporting, rather than their usual senseless bickering, false accusations, and attempts to destroy the economy. -

I actually AM surprised to see the NDP just thinking about what's good for Canadians rather than what's political. It's a rare move for them, and I applaud it.
