  1. In this case, his opinion probably does represent a majority or close to it. If anything, it's very offensive to being paying millions upon millions of dollars in, only to have the recipients turn around and claim oppression.
  2. I'd say it looks more like the Occupy movement. Professional protestors leading around angry people who don't even know what they're even protesting, no cohesive message, no tangible objective, splintering and getting even more diluted as time goes on.
  3. Yeah! Damn those Republicans for freeing the slaves, obviously that was some sort of hidden racist agenda! Those all come from the same idea, a misplaced notion that they're somehow special, and that the laws of the land don't apply to them. We're all Canadians, the same rules apply to all of us. Proof? Ezra is exceptionally diligent about fact checking. He usually shows the raw sources on screen while he's talking.
  4. That's one of the very few things that I agreed with Trudeau about. We all are just Canadians. This whole concept that there's this "nation" and that "nation" is complete B.S.
  5. Not everyone is holding out their hand, no. But that is ALL that the Idle No More movement is about. Certainly all that Ms. Spence is about at least. All of the other supposed issues are non starters. Everything else can be solved to the letter of the treaties by just going away and doing what you want to.
  6. That was then, this is now. If you want to live off the land, be one with nature, explore your culture, etc, etc, have at it. No one will stop you. How many aboriginal leaders are actually asking for that though? Compared to the ones who keep asking for more money, or who blame other people for the conditions on their reserves?
  7. The Minister of Aboriginal Affairs is the Crown's representative overseeing the agreements between FNs and the Crown. If anything, it would be a conflict of interest for that person to also be an FN member. You can't sit on both sides of the table.
  8. If you read the "right wing bozo's" page, you'd see that the source link is right at the bottom of the graphic. It's Attawapaskat's own financial statements: http://www.attawapiskat.org/financial-statements/
  9. What specifically is he lying about?
  10. Plastic bags are far more environmentally friendly. They can be (and are) reused for so many other purposes. Most of my plastic grocery bags get reused at least twice if not more. With paper bags, you're lucky if they even make it home the first time intact. If stores did not give out any bags with purchases, it would not decrease the use of plastic bags anyway. A tear-proof, water-proof bag is still a staple that people need everyday. All a bag ban in stores would mean is now people would have to buy them. No change in the usage, the only change is the expense to the consumer.
  11. Per capita is a red herring. A more densely populated region requires much less per capita for basic services than a sparsely populated one. What matters most in the case of Quebec is the not just the actual dollar amount that they are siphoning from the rest of Canada, but the fact that they are continuously doing so. When is that big province, with all those resources, all those people, all that culture, all those programs, etc, going to start contributing instead of just taking?
  12. It's a very small community, so yes, she really is just a Joe Blow. And that "state of emergency" was also just a publicity stunt done for the same purpose: to misdirect attention away from her incompetance as a leader. If it was true, and not just a stunt, of course he'd go. On the flip side, if the feds offered help, I bet the mayor of Calgary wouldn't start attaching conditions on it. I think you've made it pretty clear here who the racist is.
  13. If it's that easy to run a profitable business, why does anyone work day jobs? Why don't they all run their own businesses? The answer is, it's NOT easy, and most of them don't make it.
  14. bcsapper, just because you keep digging, doesn't mean you're any closer to getting out of the hole. You are not nearly as clever as you think you are. You said I would be on the lists of potential molesters and abusers. Lists that actually do exist. Lists that do not include all males as a default.
  15. What "power" did he have? Is he the only dentist in the world?
  16. I think you're right. Ms. Spence has put herself in a position that is almost self-fullfilling. The Prime Minister can't and won't capitulate to everyone who says they won't eat until they see him. That in itself makes this just a stunt so that she can claim that she's showing what a bad guy the Prime Minister is by not seeing her. For her, the non-result is better, and she knows it.
  17. See posts # 21-23 in this thread: You said I would be on the lists of potential rapists and child molestors. Despite your simplistic attempt to back-pedal and pretend you meant no offence, that is a clear and direct attack. Read it again. Why is your attempt to explain your attack away simplistic? Because such lists actually exist. Aside from the Sex Offender Registry, family service agencies and the like keep their lists, as do police agencies They track people based on their actions, and on people reporting their suspicions of them. Criminal Records, suspicious activities, agency reports, neighbour reports, all get recorded. You do not have to be convicted of a rape or assault to get on many of these lists, you just have to have suspicious enough behaviour that people in authority want to keep their eye on you. What those lists DON'T keep track of is "people with penises".
  18. You very clearly and directly did. It was a deliberate inflammatory personal attack. You just thought you could get away with it with a not-as-clever-as-you-think-you-are explanation.
  19. You know, I've never reported a poster before. This is the first time I've even thought about it.
  20. I say print all three of those lists. I like the idea of publishing the gun owners. If people think they have a right to own guns, I should have the right to know who they are.
  21. I don't understand why workers have as many rights as they do. Their end is easy, it's just a job. The employer is in a much tougher situation. Especially in a business like a dentists office, the employer has a much deeper commitment. They can't just leave, they have to be able to make whatever changes they need to. Even if they are just cleaning up messes of their own doing, they still have to be able to do that.
  22. Conservative supporters absolutely do not refer to Harper as "Dear Leader". The only people who claim that are left-wingers trying to stir the pot.
  23. No. A puppy can learn over 30 words in a couple of weeks with training and copious treats. 100 words is nothing for a trained adult dog. What would be exceptional would be one that DOESN'T know at least 100.
  24. True. Statistics rarely tell the story they appear to when taken individually.
  25. The supreme court is mistaken. It shall be infringed. It is being infringed, regularly. There are restriction as to what arms you can and can't have. There are restrictions as to where you can and can't bring those arms. There are restrictions as to who can and can't own them. And in most cases you need a permit. Permit. You need PERMISSION. If you need permission before you can do something, and even then you can only do it within a set of rules, that's privelidge, not a right.
