  1. The first gulf war was a UN action and I believe that is what they are refering to.
  2. Theft is not the action of protecting the rich from the poor; most thieves are not stealing because they are poor ( one certainly can not call Sven poor) His only saving grace was returning it before being caught ( whether he realized it was probably on video or not) and it being a first offence and endangered nobody. I do not condone any theft; I do not want to pay sky rocketing insurance payments by allowing such thefts to be de criminalized. The police should be going after thieves; it is their job. I had an incident where a addict street person was out of control and screaming and yelling at me; I had to lock myself in my place of business; they refused to come as the mall had security guards???? Even called back and whined about me hanging up on them.
  3. BC does have a very viable ship building capability. There is no excuse; we do have the expertise and capability
  4. Well will I do hope you will approve of our next NDP government. Campbell is toast. We don't like drunken liars. They do not do what they say; Remember BC Rail. Remember promises on BC Hydro; remember open honest government?????? When are we going to be informed on what was found during the raid on the legislature????? We did fish farms get their fines forgiven and rents reduced??????? quietly and not legally. What about the the minister's aid that was suspended and we are still forking out a salary to??????? Where did all our health Care dollars go: to rich doctors who now have better things to do with their time than service patients. Might cut into their yachting and golfing.
  5. Both Campbells were there for the "photo opportunity "opening, I think. City Campbell couldn't have opened it without the approval of DUI Campbell
  6. Only if you are sure to return it undamaged before you get caught; and didn't drive irresponsibly. Someone who steals a high powered car like a Corvette may have done so to have "fun" racing it and thereby endangering others. Most people on a non violent first crime; so not serve time I think we need to worry more about the soft sentences handed out to violent criminals particularly child molestation crimes.
  7. Now he has lost that right after the DUI ; and other dubious underhanded legilation and broken promises. He called for others to resign who did much less wrong.
  8. yes, We are all different in some ways; so are cities; so what. That is why we are called provinces. Lately, I think Albertans are doing more sulking than Quebeckers.
  9. Where did you come up with that misinformation. It was an INVASION by the USA/Britain coalition; It was NOT sanctioned by the UN.
  10. nonsense
  11. I do feel for these young people who are obviously not being particularly well lead. I feel for the poor soldiers who are being used a scapegoats for the torture tactics used by the military. It is obviously well spread around and comes from higher up in command. I think it is a complete bunch of bs. They are being forced to risk their lives and well being not in defense of their country but for reasons that have no real connection to defending one's country.
  12. Our soldiers/peacekeepers are already committed in Afghanistan and Haiti. It is not our problem to stabilize Iraq; we didn't approve of it being de-stabilized. Why should Canada risk lives of our soldiers. That could be misconstued as acceptance of the invasion. Besides not many countries are willing to fight alongside the American troops. Unless the UN takes complete control; No to Canadian troops.
  13. working taxpayers can't get medical treatment in an acceptable time but we can build a fancy injection site for junkies. Now they want a room for inhaling. by the way, I understand that such a room exists; at the moment it is being used for filing or whatever. They did anticipate accomodating these people. Is the world mad or is it me. The free needle program succeeded in enabling the junkies to discard their old needles everywhere; playgrounds, bus stops, etc where kids or animals could get infected.
  14. If the USA did not believe that they needed another resolution to legally invade Iraq; why did they waste so much time and money trying to bribe and threaten other nations to back the invasion of Iraq??????? They decided that since they couldn't buy support; they would try to find some loopholes to interpret rsolution 1441 to suit their purposes.
  15. I can't believe it but I do agree with you Stoker. I believe our Navy would be the most important to build up. We do have lots of shore line to protect and patrol. Hospital ships are very necessary at many conflicts and very compatible with our outlook.
  16. But will it be soon enough. Will there be anything left to save. The money is all tied up for years to come for the Olympics but after this year the budget cannot go into deficit. Hmm funny how that come around election time. Did he know that he would only have one kick at the can. Committed future tax money that will give the next government little discretion in spending.
  17. The old USA way; vilify anyone who proves that the administration did wrong. They did the same thing to Ramsey Clarke. The world would be a safer place with MR Bush out of power!!!!!!!Cheney, too; the real power.
  18. Who hold the responsibility for paying the meatpackers with taxpayers money over the BSE. They made huge profits buying cheap and selling high; they didn't require subsidizing by taxpayers. That money should have been given to the smaller family farmer. Who made the decision; Harper or the federal government (Chretien or Martin?)
  19. Local News Is PM Already Bailing on Promises for BC? August 05, 2004 - 7:51 am By: Tammy Moyer Just over a month in office and already the new Prime Minister is being accused of breaking his vow to BC. According to the Vancouver Sun, Paul Martin is leaving western provinces out of the new maritime helicopter contract payday. With only a quarter the population of western Canada, Atlantic provinces will get a billion dollars worth of work, Ontario 2-billion, and Quebec under a billion. As for the west, BC and the prairies will be left to split just under 390-million. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why pick on Paul Martin for not using BC contractors; our own government prefers to build Ferries in a foreign country and pay the federal government 150 million import duties for snubbing local shipyards and BC taxpaying shipyard workers. Gotta get those unions busted
  20. Quote: " think we need more drinking politicans like Klien." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- No thanks, we have one in BC (DWI in Hawaii) He will be gone next election.
  21. Oh Stoker; denial for you is bliss. What has it not done. Angering Muslims and Arabs with it unjust invasion of a Muslim country (Iraq). The USA using its veto to allow Israel to escape responsibility for its unjust actions against Palestinian citizens. The USA using its veto that allowed Saddam to escape responsibility for using poison gas against Iran. All these actions have helped recruit more terrorists which endanger North America. Then there is ????? free trade???? that allows them to take any of our resources that they wish and refuse hoenest trade. I am not saying that only Israel has done wrong; only that the USA misuses its veto to protect Israel (thereby enabling) when it does do wrong.
  22. While we do need a stronger defensive military; trained to assist the citizens in times of natural disasters, accidents or attacks. I do not believe we need a large offensive force. We can do our part in ways other than military aggression. Diplomacy, peacekeepers, intelligence gathering, negotiators. World order requires much more than lethal force to solve problems. Oft times, military intervention causes more problems than it solves.
  23. For example, look at the recent high-profile cases involving Canadians abroad, such as the murder of the Cnadian photojournalist in Iran. Would having a bigger military have enabled Canada to leverage a better result------------------------------------------------------------------------- By the way; she had dual citizenship; Canadian and Iranian. You do not go to war over one person. We need stronger grounds than than. This photographer was just as much an Iranian citizen as she was Canadian especially while she was in Iran. I do not like the way the Iranian government is covering up this case; or the treatment she recieved but just where does her dual citizenship leave us????
  24. We are doing that here in BC. There is no age groups. However, new drivers of any age do not get the good driving discounts until they earn them. There are rate differential for different areas. Of course Campbell fired Nick Geer, the president as he was doing a great job and has the public insurance working well and effeciently. This did not suit his plans which were to attempt to privatize our car insurance.
