It should be decriminalized so that people who wish to use it for medical reasons can do so. Never mind the road side test. I am sure that we drank alcohol for a very long time before a roadside test came up. Do we have a roadside test for prescription drugs that can have side effects that make you drowsy or slow your reactions. There are warnings on the labels for many prescrition or even off the shelf drugs. Do we have a test for those. If you are driving erratically; you can be tested for nearly any drug.

Of course we had smugglers from BC selling marijuana in the USA and brininging back hard drugs. BC Bud is the best; Americans want the best. However, due to the tighter borders; BC now has an excess crop here and prices are dropping dramatically. Canada has no plans to legalize marijuana. They just plan to decriminalize possession of small amounts of the stuff for personal use. Drug dealers and growers will still be prosecuted. In fact, penalties for growers and dealers will be more severe from the information I read.

OH GO SOAK YOUR HEAD. Listen to the experts. I think you are just here to troll. Either that or you really are ignorant. -
You right wing money grubbing conservatives like to criticize the public health care system but offer no proof that private health care would offer anything better. Of course if the working poor or lower middle income cannot afford healthcare I supposed that would take them off the waiting list, Is that what you are advocating. We all pay taxes; rich and poor. If not income taxes; we pay pst, gst, gas tax, etc. I don't need a better highway to a ski hill; nor a n expensive transportation system to the airport. We all need a p[roperly working health care system.

Cuba's health care has deteriorated due to the embargo by the USA prevents them from get some medicines and hurts their trade. Hence no money. If Castro is rebuilding his military; it may well be because of thinly veiled threats from BUSH.
-
Why do companies expand or merge. One central system instead of many that duplicates services. That is another reason why I would like to see the Federal government to control healthcare. Our current health care system is quite sustainable. It is mostly a little game played by the provinces to pry more money from the federal government with a majority of the citizens support. At least Health care is something we all may have need of. Better our tax money go to that then bailing out companies; sending money to countries all over the world where most of the money sent to help the people is ripped off by unscrupulous government officials. Better health care for all than some ultra expensive transit system for a small portion of the citizens but paid for by all. If a poor country like Cuba can fund national health care then a rich country such as Canada should be able to also. What could be more important than health care that is available to all citizens. Before national healthcare only the rich and welfare recipients could afford doctor bills when they had a major health problem. We had MSA but if you were employed by a cheapskate employer you didn't get it; if you were between jobs or starting a new job; you weren't covered.

No, you convince me that they will not be coerced by the counsellors. A counsellor could be offered but should not be mandatory.
-
Because it costs more and can be above the means of some. Compassion for your fellow man is too much to ask of you. You are a real sweetie

You are the one not thinking Bro. What is wrong with Government funded health care. Just because Cuba has it you believe that it must therefore be wrong. Lack of free thought there. Not all democracies are great; not all communist countries are downtrodden and corrupt. At least no more so than many democracies.

Yeah, every day eh. They are poor. There are always those that would like the richer lifestyle or the criminals escaping justice. Even a few Canadians that aren't too happy. It is hardly a large number. Sanctions have made life difficult in Cuba not Castro.

I hardly believe that gay parades or wife beaters are considered Cultural groups; just what are you all ranting about.

Favours my butt; Free trade works two ways not one. What an stupid remark. -
Yes, I do. He is a single white male with the needed IT skills. Oh, he doesn't speak French, either. I do believe he is trying to learn as he is working out of Quebec. He needs it to try to pick up girls. I have several friends working for the federal government that do not belong to any minorities. However, to work as a ministerial aid in BC it does seem you must be a relative of some Minister. Neopotism reigns there.

One could only wish it was that controlled and rigid. You think it is bad because Castro implemented healthcare in Cuba. Geeesh, what will he do next? Feed the poor. What a monster eh. Don't be ridiculous and brainwashed by the American mindset. The majority of Cubans are quite happy with Castro. They are the most efficient organic gardeners in the world. Since the American embargo; they have had to come up with methods to feed the people.

QUOTE: CBC today "EDMONTON - A new study from Harvard University says it's safe to reopen the U.S. border to live Canadian cattle. " ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Will it make any difference? This is not the first time the Americans have heard this. Their own experts have told them this long ago; still they drag their feet.

Well, if we limit how long a single mother can stay on welfare; we may sudden get a higher birthrate; a new baby every so many years to keep her qualified for welfare. I don't think we need that. Even good Catholics are not having large families

No mandatory counselling; it could be abused or demoralizing for someone who has put serious thought into her decision. Other than in a marriage or via some other contract; AI believe it is the woman's choice on whether or not to consult the man. There are more reasons than sexual assault or date rape. They may as well leave it at that; otherwise she need only to say she does not know which man is the father; even though it may be a lie. However, she would have tohumiliate herself for whatever reasons for not wishing to tell the man/

Are you anti USA or anti Bush?

Quote: "We also have a military that has a winning history" ______________________________________________Unfortunately, that is ancient history. Our militar has deteriorated and we couldn't make it across the border on a surprise attack with our whole military there. It was good for a chuckle, though -
I am saying it should not be mandatory to consult the father. There may be valid reasons for not doing so. I am just talking from 62 years of experience; I am sure there are occasions when the male does have valid reasons for wanting the child and that it is the female who does not for her own selfish reasons. However, I do not believe this to be a large number; especially when it comes to young teenagers. Married women should certainly have the consent of their husbands unless they have valid grounds not to do so; abusive or controlling relationship from which she is seriously contemplating ending.

No Belfred; not selfishness but concern for giving the children all that they need for a good future. A child born today will require a secondary education; be it college or a good trade school. It would be irresponsible and selfish to keep having children that they could not afford to raise comfortably. Previous generations; children were needed to help on farms or some family business. Now most of this work is done by machinery and less labour intensive. A child to grow up successfully; will require an extensive education that is getting more expensive everyday.

I would believe that most men ARE consulted about the abortion. That most times it is the male that demands the abortion. Most men that would demand a female should not abort a child may be wanting to have control over the woman for years to come through the child. That most are not able and prepared to raise the child. The woman/girl may wish the abortion rather than have a child by an abusive or control freak partner; that child would furnish the man with a hold over her through the child. In fact, the female may be afraid to tell the man about being pregnant; fearing his wrath and abuse. The female is the one who should make the decision; she is the one whose life would be most affected. Counselling should be offered but not ordered.

That article and lawsuit are a bit ridiculous. More child custody is being made joint custody. If the one parent does not have any custody rights; it is usually for good reason. I did say Usually, not always. The reason for our declining birthrate is due to better contraception methods. Most people these days do find that two children are all they can afford if they wish to send them to get a good college education. I agree. These days; most families require two incomes; more children would mean astronomical day care costs.

maple syrup; you are dramatizing. He just stated an opinion. He did not advocate taking him to the nearest tree and hanging him. If it were my child; I would like to take him behind the barn and end it quickly. Lets have a little compassion for the victims and those who have to investigate this type of crime; especially when it is a young child. Criminals get too much coddling; monsters who kill or abuse children should have no support. He will get a fair trial. The remarks made will not change that one iota.

Still I say; provinces or federal government; not states. OK
