That is the problem; much of the money people send for poverty stricken children gets siphoned off by "administation costs" or into the greedy hands of corrupt officials in the poor country. We have many many poor underprivileged children here in Canada, Charity should begin at home.

Well, I think they should be required to have English or French signs. Those are our two official languages. Give them too much rope and they will want to declare Richmond to have special status and /or want to separate. I personally will never shop there again. My son and his friend were refused service and told "we don't serve your kind here" racial discrimination. I am sure most shops would be happy to take our money but if even some have that attitude it is unacceptable; they would scream loud and hard if the shoe was on the other foot and they were refused service in a English Canadian shop.

The gun registry should not have cost that much money and probably wouldn't have if these gun lovers didn't protest and put up so many stumbling blocks to it. I would like to see every hunter and farmer need to show that he has enough knowledge and respect for guns to always keep them in a secure place. My father had guns; we were taught to respect guns and never to point them at anyone or where a bullet could travel and hit someone or the bullet richochet and hit someone or an animal. Many other farmers/hunter did not use the same care nor put the fear of God into their children that guns are not toys. One of our neighbours two teenage sons got into a brotherly fight; the younger boy ran into the house; grabbed a shotgun and shot his brother. In the heat of an argument a gun was readily available; the shooter immediately regretted his decision and called for an ambulance and the police but it was too late. His brother was dead.

Easier said than done. Trollers come in just to disagree and make outrageous statements to irritate. When they get booted; they generally come back using a different email address and name. Some people that simply always disagree are not worth getting your dander up. When they are unwilling to even consider your post and are closed mind. That doesn't make for a real discussion. Yes, it does make you stoop to their level at times. With ignore, you need not listen to the irritation. If someone is not willing to give any consideration to your points; why let them bother you??

Because we don't pay the salaries to skilled trades and send jobs out of the country; the experienced workers go where the jobs are. BCIT and other college listings are for JUNIOR positions. I hear there are jobs all over in BC; then find there are 20 thousand less full time jobs. People are only getting part time work.

I do think that you are right on this. Sounds an unlikely choice of topics to ask grade six student to do.

Often it is not the parent's fault. Many kids just don't have the right metabolism. Poorer families feed their kids too much starchy food that is cheaper. A good diet with fresh vegetables, fruits, etc is not cheap. When kids have two working parents; their breakfast probably consists of sugary ready to eat cereals. Parents should be helped and encouraged to make sure children eat a healthier diet and lead a more active life style. Turn off the tv and shut down the computer/ nintendo etc. Go for a walk or bike ride with your kids in the evening. Unfortunately when children have two working parents children do not always get the time devoted to them that they should. A crime??? No but it is a shame if there are no extenuating circumstances such as a metabolic disorder.

Let's be serious; China is a large world power and IS one of the permanent 5 with a veto on the UN. A UN that only encompasses Western democracies is a social club; this is a world wide organziation to settle problems in countries that usually are NOT democracies. If these other countries are not represented; the UN would be nothing more than a military social club.

There is nothing funny about it. Belgium backed down because of threat to with draw from NATO (if memory is right). This would make more of a statement than any reality that Bush would actually serve time. There was a very successful international indictment against Bush SR., Cheney, Rumsfield, and others after the Gulf War started by a former attorney general / assistant attorney general (Johnson - Kennedy). They, too, served no time in prison but it provides a permanent record of objections to these actions. Better than sucking it in and letting future generations think we were all ignorant and vicious. It makes a statement to other nationalities affected; that we are not all in accord with the unjustified attacks on them.
