  1. We don't have to invent thing that Bush is to blame for. I think he has done enough damage to world peace all on his own ( under Cheney's strings)
  2. I thought that was cute and very true. After that dumb Bush made a show of looking under his desk as if it were a big joke. That should have shown everyone how ignorant and childish he is.
  3. Until recently, BC was footing those bills; and we are very close to doing the same again. Saskatchewan is a "have" province or very close. I think BC has just recieved its first equalization payment. Why should we not carry on recieving these equalization payments forever if NFLD does? NFLD should be proud to be able to stand on its own feet instead of continuing to hold out its hand for more money from the rest of Canadians forever. It is time that NFLD learned to stand on its own feet.
  4. Don't be silly. We need to cut the powers to the provinces and build a stronger central government. I am getting tired of all these "Mom loved you the best" mentalities in the provincial governments. It is a waste of money having national programs run by the Provinces, They have no inclination to makes these services run smoothly. People complaining about lack or slowness of services just means they have voices for siphoning off more federal money. Notice how they always want no strings attached. A central government running these services would make services more equal throughut Canada and could mean we could go to any province for our health care. Provinces could more readily share services rather than each have their own resources. Even the premiers claimed that a central prescription service would be fairer and cheaper.
  5. American torture is NOT occasion and many have died from this torture. I do expect more from our formerly law abiding civillized southern neighbour. No make that used to expect better. The Americans were also holding children a Guatanama against international law.
  6. You seem to have forgotten America's past has not been all nicey nicey. In fact the Afro Americans were treated very badly and to this day still face rampant discrimination. The still execute people to this day; many found later to be innocent. Then we can go back to their dealings with their treatment of their native Indian people. Not a proud history and today not a proud future.
  7. Yes and Bush blames individual young soldiers for the torturing of prisons> This is from Human rights watch
  8. Nonsense and BS Just about every hit IS premeditated. Give me a break. Bertuzzi is a better man than you or Moore will ever be
  9. Slight exaggeration eh Millions??????
  10. Lately, It is the American killing thousands or Iraqis and sacrificing hundreds of young Americans. What has China done recently????
  11. Insults show the low level of intelligence of the poster; when you resort to cheap insults it shows you yourself have nothing concrete to offer. As for not being hicks; being a hick doesn't make one smarter. I was born on a farm and now live in the city. One does not need to go around even the farm areas with a long hunting knife; a Jack knife fits the bill. Walking around with long hunting knives went out with Davy Crockett.
  12. And this was hardly the worst attack seen. Bertuzzi did not use a weapon. He has to take a lot of cheap shots every game.Except for the third man in and the dogpile; he would have gotten a major. Others have gotten much less.
  13. Well there is more to Canada than a few car part manufacturers. We in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the territories to name a few compose a large part of Canada and we do not make cars. Do we all hold our breath and live for the car plants in Ontario???
  14. Yes sure, China is a big threat ROFLMAO; Just who have they been invading and harassing. The USA has become the greatest threat to world peace without any close rival even N Korea.
  15. Peace Prize ROFLMAO War prize maybe.
  16. Well Argus; manufacturing is not a major export business in this country; Logging, mining and oil are. So, we will welcome China with open arms unless the Americans learn to obey international trade laws.
  17. There is absolutley no precedent for that type of suspension for Bertuzzi. His action was not any different thab we see nearly every game; just the end results were worse. Moore has suddenly backed off on the civil suit; probably told by the league to shut up if he ever wants a chance to play again. He sure whines enough for someone who was on the ice for his "hitting abilities" rather than any professional hockey playing abilities. Note; how Colorado has stood behind him and did not re sign him after using him as a sacrificial goat!!!! Naslund's injuries had just as seriously career ending injuries but we didn't hear him whine nor even discuss the wrist injury until playoffs were over for Vancouver. The hit on Naslund may have been legal; unneeded for sure as Naslund could not have reached the puck. Moore expressed or showed not a speck of regret over his injuries.
  18. Argus; looks like both of our posts made it to the wrong topic???? OOOPS we have just been a little side tracked by a comment
  19. You are just buying into the leagues propaganda. At least the players offer a large cut. Cannot the powners take responsibility for themselves and control themselves? Why do they need the players to police the owners with a cap. As businessmen, if they cannot afford a player; don't hire him. The team and game must be "sold" to the public to bring up attendance. Some teams play too carefully defensive even with a small lead. Boring!!!! Fans want to see more offensive play with shots on goal. The style of hockey played is decided by the coach and general manager. It is the "team owners and staff" responsibility to sell the game to the public. Intermissions could be a little more entertaining; they just want you to go and buy their over priced food and beverages. Even getting the team involved in community events is a good way to promote the team like our Cancuk Place in Vancouver which I believe is a players initiatative with Linden a key promoter. The owner does make more money than is being discussed (probably doesn't include stall rentalls and a few other profitable enterprises fed by the "game" The players have made an effort to settle this LOCK OUT; the owners have not. The owners are still sitting around with the money from season ticket holders. The owners do have a large war chest to cover their butts during this lockout; where did that come from with all these cash strapped teams???????? Another write off from their prfits to indicate that THEY are losing money. I do agree, hockey players, especially the stars, do make too much money as do actors and actresses; however, hockey players are much more prone to life long effects from injuries.
  20. The walmart clerks are not exactly well trained people. Many can only speak minimum English which can slow down any transactions. What do you expect from minimum wage employees.
  21. Who does the NHL compete with and it was some arrogant rich owners who thought that they could buy the stanley cup by securing all the top players by paying exhorbitant salaries that started the NHL on a downslide. It was the idea of opening franchises in the South where hockey is not a normal part of kids play. No outdoor ponds where kids can skate in the warm south. It's the big bucks sent to bring in foreign players instead of using North Americans that has driven up the salaries. The union had little to do with the big climb in salaries.
  22. Actually only one was immediately fired of the four. Two were on paid leave; and the third who will be fired when he returns to work was taking unpaid leave . The two on paid leave have finally been fired.
  23. I think a union might help as a middle man and proof that she had objected to the term. Unions should be back in the hand of the working man and not run by professional union leader that have no real consequences for any actions they may take (they never lose a days pay). I don't think unions need to be dismantled; there are many employers out there who like to misuse employees and skirt labour laws. Several people with head offices in Alberta were told that they would not be paid for Christmas and New Years. This is against our labour laws Complain and perhaps they will soon find themselves unemployed. Some employees need a larger voice to back up misuse of power by employers. We no longer can depend on EI to tide us over if we threaten to quit if we do not get a raise to keep up with inflation. We do have many immigrant employers now who do not pay statutory holidays or holiday pay. Many employees simply work under the table and pay no income tax. This is a rip off of the employees and other taxpayers. There may be no physical abuse but there is a growing financial abuse particularly immigrant employers who hire immigrants.
  24. Don't bet a bundle on anything you have a strange imagination. Wrestlers are not "tough" gys; they are gymnasts and buffoons. Any real wrestling is a thing of the past. Wrestling is now all about acting. Bertuzzi'a look is just his style; did you want him to come into court looking like a wimp? His look is just fairly normal
  25. It is not the guns or knives that kill; its the nut controlling the gun/knive or other weapon. Guns and knives have legitimate uses; especially knives. Don't you think we have enough government regulations. We have laws that regulate the types of knives not allowed to be carried on your person.
