Hi Maple Bear missed you. Hope you had a good Christmas Break. I think you are right about Bush going down. I think he won as Americans felt that they needed to vote for him to show support for the troops. I wouldn't be very happy if any of my children were shipped over there. I would WANT to believe that they are risking their lives in defense of their country not for one of Bush's little side shows that will cause more terrorism than it prevents. It really was hard to believe that he could have been re-elected after all the things he was found to be fabricating. Why was there no fuss from the Americans over the Pakistani scientist selling nuclear technologies and parts to "rogue " nations. Nothing was said when the Pakistani Prime Minister pardoned the scientists. Then the USA just a few weeks later made Pakistan a favoured ally for purchasing modern warfare weapons. Just does not make sense to me>

For many Conservatives; the Liberals are wrong no matter what they do. What do they think Harper would have done????? Harper doesn't even want to help poor Canadians nor provide all Canadians with affordable Health care. I suppose Harper would do whatever Bush told him instead of what the Canadian taxpaying citizens demanded.

Shakey, in actuality Ontario DOES keep all ITS revenues. Ontario and Quebec get all the goodies from Ottawa. We felt the loss of income on the West Coast thanks to Ontario's failure to control SARS. BC did control our outbreak despite being a large destination city for visitors from Asia and China. BC did not get a expensive concert paid for nor any help for our hurting tourist industry. When our fishing industry is shut down due to low stocks; BC does not get any subsidy. We don't have government industries set up all over the place feeding our economy. BC has been until the last few years a "Have" province; donating to the rest of the country. We all feed Ontario whenever we pay taxes to the federal government which spend most of its money in Ontario and most of its offices and services are based in Ontario; paid for by ALLanadian.

It is not taken out of context. There could have been a warning but they didn't want to scare the tourists. You sure come to the defense of foreign governments while consistently criticizing our own. There was lots of time to get out a warning. 75 minutes could have saved a lot of people. What is opportunistic about it? The extra you added adds nothing except one man's frustration and failure to find a way to do the job. Even to have phoned radio stations; or go to the beach and tell people to leave.

No, I would say it has had a big failure. Bush. The corruption and inability of the UN is due to those countries with a veto misusing the veto for political purpose plus the failure of the USA to pay its dues in a timely fashion. Peace keeping and gumanitarian work costs money NOW not just when the USA and other dead beat countries pay up when seeking approval for dubious plans

Now they claim "allegies" everyone has allergies; we had them when I was young but only those with severe hay fever problems used it as an excuse to stay home. You would find most of these kids feel much better come 3:30. We did; only it didn't always work.

I think there is more than enough money; at least at this time. I would not donate money to this disaster anymore than any other charity in these third world country where the money usually falls into the hand of corrupt officials. Money is not the biggest issue at this time. It is a question of getting these needed supplies to regions that have been cut off. I understand that the conditions make even dropping these supplies by helicopter difficult. If it makes you feel better to donate money; I would suggest the Red Cross. When it gets too much money for one disaster it can re direct it to areas that do not get the publicity but have the same or more need,

No I do not. We have a very dense population but perhaps a little more responsible; not always got out hand out; Federal money never comes this far. We have learnt to stand on our own two feet. That's why I have no sympathy for NFLD that wants its cake and eat it too after we have been subsidizing them for years and years.

I think we have dug deep enough with our taxes; 80 million from the feds and 8 million from BC. And there seems to be money coming from almost every province. The Canada govt also froze their debts to Canada until they have recovers; that is is the multi millions. There are many people in the world elsewhere that are suffering without help or sympathy.

That is nonsense. Many of the homeless here are Albertans that come for the better weather.. You can keep your weather when it even snows in what we call summer. Plus we have the Canucks.
