Quotas have aq cash value; they can be sold or given to whomever. It is the same with milk. It is a method of conservation; how else would they see that everyone with a boat a gear would be allowed his fair share, That too many fishermen are not out there. The the fish caught are being recorded. The fish belong to all of us; paying something to the government is very acceptable and necessary to control our fish stocks for future generations.

Is anybody surprised with Bush still in office with his childish tempet tantrums whenever he does not get his own way; whenever Canadian authorities are not kissing his big fat butt. If the USA government will not play fair according to international trade agreements; we have seen how they ignore internatioal laws regarding invading another country"s territories; why would we desire to join them in any type of military alliance.

Is Ernst Zundell a victim? Why extradition?

Evidence of this, please. You can question anything in history; you just cannot make up your own fictional history and attempt to pass it off as truth -
Why is 9/11 still a big deal?
caesar replied to anticlimates's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Every one seems to have forgotten the home terrorist sthat attack innocents in Oklahoma. Is this Iraqi invasion going to send back more veterans with twisted minds. 9/11 was a major tragedy and completely ruthless and horrifying. The USA should not forget that all the terrorist attacks in the USA were not all done by foreigners. Remember the anthrax deaths that killed indiscriminately are believed to have been done by an American. The USA should, also, realize that invading a country based on lies, forgeries and fraud is not the way to make the USA safer from terrorist attacks. I think the result of this ill advised invasion will have the opposite effect. It has, already, caused many unstable countries to declare that they will or have developed nuclear capabilities. It is their only weapon against being attacked by the USA -
Why not sell water to the US?
caesar replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
As in most things; we would not watch them suffer; that is not the Canadian way. We would share what we can. Could we really say they would do the same. Especially if there were a vindictive government similar to the Bush regime. The USA does not think it should abide by any international agreements in many areas. -
My understanding is that even Bill Clinton can now run again for president. The limitation is 2 terms in a row. Maybe Hillary will run with Bill as her VP.

Why not sell water to the US?
caesar replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Read the article. Once we start selling them our water supply; we cannot turn off the taps once we start under NAFTA. Water on one's land; just like mineral rights; does not make him the owner. If you dam a river or creek running through your land; you cut off other access. You are very limited on what you can do with water on your land. Water rights do not come with the land. This is what much of the fighting was about in the wild west. Water is not as simple as other things. It is not about any Canada/ USA thing; it is simply a matter of controlling our own resources of water which is essential to life, agriculture, fishing, etc. It is not the same as selling a cow or lumber. -
Not really; they are making things cheaply now; like cell phones; disposable; not worth repairing.

I am not condemning them at all. Just don't care for the chest beating. I would imagine police officers face more danger. You chose the profession; accepting the obvious dangers. Quit your whining

Why not sell water to the US?
caesar replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Water is not a resource that we can produce; such as is meat and wheat. Including water in Nafta; may allow the sale of our water without proper control We have limited drinking water of our own. Extricating water under NAFTA could include risks to opur environment. -
I think we can all agree; that Michael is very dumb to put himself back in the position he is in by entertaining young boys. However, what type of parent would allow their children to stay overnight with any man let alone one publicly accused of mosesting children, previously. Despite there being no solid proof on the first case; a caring mother would be alert and on guard. This women who is now laying the charges against Jackson; has a record of charging others (including her ex husband) on molestations. There is no doubt in my mind; that the child in question has been abused; the only question is by whom? Jackson, the accusers own mother, or both.

What sacrifice?? My nephew was in the Navy; 20 years with out a day facing any military action. Free training is given in many areas that can be transferred to civillian life. He resigned as soon as the Iraq invasion came up with a good pension at 40 years old.

You mean the ones fishing illegally or over fishing???? Quotas are used for many things; there are even quotas on milk; how much a farmer can ship. Quotas are worth money; if a fisherman sold his quotas for a fast buck; that is his problem. Quotas are used to allow every fisherman the right to catch a fair catch and control the number of new fishermen. You need a quota to fish, I presume.

US Missile Shield over Canada
caesar replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Violating another country's airspace is grossly illegal. The USA is NOT paying our way regarding defense; they are generally delinquent paying their own way at the UN; then wonder why the UN cannot be effective????? Gee whiz wonder why they cannot operate without money hmmm??? Why should we "go along" on any defense measures that we do not believe is relevant or effective; just because the USA believes in it. Either way; any "collateral damage" will come down on Canadian soil; if we are part of this defense plan; can we complain???? The USA military is notorious for "collateral damage" The USA with its aggressive acts around the world and its illegal invasions has angered millions world wide and brought the possibility of retaliation much more likely. The WTC terrorists did not enter the USA via Canada (as finger pointing claimed); they were mostly legally staying in the USA on visas; learned their plane flying techniques (minus landing) in the USA. So far Kimmy; I haven't seen many lives "Dubya" has saved; I do read the figures of those whose deaths have come about. Iraqis and American and a few of our own "friendly fire" soldiers over in Afghanistan. -
Anchorwoman killed in Iraq.
caesar replied to anticlimates's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
No, that's is exactly what we are NOT saying. Americans do not speak for Iraqis neither do the other terrorists. -
Wenches???????? Is this post a joke. If this is an honest post and you got disoriented and paranoid as a teenager trying pot; you should be more careful with your source; that sounds more like junk dusted with angel dust or something

They just need to do it; easy is what all these kids want. Life is not always easy. Just get with the programs. -
This is a dumb topic. We have a military; small though it is. We have always had a military and we always will. We do not have any need for an American style military; Canada does not invade other nations. We are not turning over our defense to the USA. Joining the USA in its illegal aggressions is the biggest reason that we would have to need a military. We don't have to be sucked into the arms race.

Is it time for the government to act?
caesar replied to Grantler's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Well August this is the dumbest statement that I have ever read on this forum A hundred years ago, a typical fourteen year old was self sufficient; worked to support himself: clearing land, plowing fields, growing crops, raising and caring for animals; building railroads. They didn't need their Mommy to wipe their snotty little noses. A fourteen year old today; may have more knowledge about the world but they certainly are not able to look after themselves or contribute to society. They are still children at 25 today. -

caesar replied to Grantler's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
WE didn't do it with borrowed money; that is a recent development. We did it with sweat, blood, and tears. We sent well armed armies to represent Canada proudly in two world wars. We did it proudly; we showed pride in our country. What have you and your generation done. Whine and complain. I see very little pride in Canada coming from the conservatives on this forum. You want to throw away what we achieved; throw away your priciples and join with a powerful country that is out of control and ignoring international laws. -
US Missile Shield over Canada
caesar replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Because that is what laws are about. So that one country does not act like a dictatorship as the Americans are doing. Just be careful on calling people stupid. numb nutz. The world did not elect Bush leader of the world; not America. That is what we formed the UN for; which the USA takes pleasure in sabotaging any real effectiveness. Until we stand up and say no; we are just giving into the bullying tactics of the USA. Arrangements could easily be negotiated regarding using Canadian air space; but it should not be done by acting like a bully and ignoring international laws. Just cause Bubba is bigger and meaner than the others; doesn't mean he should be able to set the rules. -

Only if they (the USA government) respected international laws which we all know they do not. Stop the insulting nick names; that is being childish and we were told not to play these types of insulting childish games. -
Why not sell water to the US?
caesar replied to August1991's topic in Canada / United States Relations
We need all our own good clean drinking water ourselves. Canadians first. Why would we want to put ourselves in the position of fighting for our own water in times of a drought? Although, I am sure we would help the USA in such a case; it would be Canadians first. Water is not as easily renewable as is forests. Man can help with forest renewal; we must look to nations respecting kyoto to prevent global warming to prevent our water supply drying up. Let them drink wine hehe
