  1. That seems to be who is running the school boards now
  2. Now the BC Liberals are trying to shut up the little opposition they have in the legislature. Disgusting.
  3. We all know that the media makes many errors in trying to get out the story too fast before checking facts. That works for both sides of the issue. During the start of the invasion of Iraq; a room was found full of stacked bodies 15 years old that was at first claimed to be evidence of Saddam's torture chamber. Authorities admitted that they were repatriated bodies recently returned from Iran. Despite this 2 days later; the Province had these pictures on the front page claiming them to be "evidence" of Saddam's torture chambers. A story correction was never issued; or if it was; it was buried in small print on the back pages. My complaint was not answered and I cancelled my subscription. So, yes, news is often distorted but not generally to Israel's disfavour. In fact, since most of our media is controlled by Can West owned by the Aspers (Jewish); the reports generally paint a picture of Israel as the "victim" of Palestinian aggression. I was under the impression that Palestinian "terrorists" were the only wrong doers until I joined a forum debating the Iraq war. I first was against it as I thought the focus shouold stay on the al Qaeda. I discovered many facts that shook my beliefs and trust in the USA and Israel.
  4. Well Luke, on that I agree; However, that is not what this "equal representation is all about. The BC system being suggested was done by a handful of "regular citizens" under the leadership of a government picked moderator. Too much influence on people who are NOT experts. I would have more confidence in a group of experts coming up with the choices first; openly debating the various systems. Experts would be more knowledgeable of the downfalls of the systems. I am suspect on a system selected by non experts under the leadership of a ruling governments choice of moderator.
  5. Yes, Clark was actually very good. He was villified by a bunch of overblown bs orchestrated , no doubt, by Campbell who liked to suggest everyone resign when there was a possibility of scandal; yet, refuses to himself when caught re handed. Campbell promised that he and his party had no plans to sell BC Rail then went ahead and sold it; again, despite the news that ministerials aides for his government were giving out confidential information to one of the bidders. BC taxpayers are now losing out on lucrative contracts transporting the rebord coal industry. Campbell's attacks on seniors will not bode well come election time. I could go on and on and on. I have never claimed the NDP to be the perfect choice. I would prefer a more center party and will be looking closely at the new party running this election. However, while the NDP may be a little too much bleeding hearts in some areas; at least they do have their hearts in the right places and do not make the working man subsidize the rich. Campbell's tax cuts have done that. The cuts have , also, negatively affected Children's and women's ministries. Lowering the working age to 14 is another disgrace and step towards making BC a third world disadvantaged worker haven. BC faced criticism from human right and the UN for its lowered womens and childrens rights.
  6. We do seem to like to vote for change here in BC. Any change without too much thought going into the question. Personally, I prefer the way we have it now.
  7. You must have taken a new math than what I took. The younger generation is the "ME generation. Equal representation will not be done on an age basis. It is as far as I can see. A more expensive system with more fringe parties getting seats and we will have to pay for these insignificant people who will have no influence.
  8. True; the UN does need changes. It needs to be done with the Permanent Five and their vetoes. The world and powers change in relevancy. It, also, needs a way to collect dues. Too many nations neglect paying their dues (USA is the worst dead beat) which hog ties them from reacting to world situations. Countries need to send delegates that will vote on issues in a more world wide and honest frame of mind. Routine vetoes protecting a favoured country right or wrong is not reacting to world situations.
  9. You, my dear are the one repeating "the junk" Healthcare in this province has become very dangerous and people are waiting too long for treatment. How many women suffered from a flesh eating type disease after caesarean operations. The cheaper cleaning staffs brought in by the Campbell governments have not been up to standard. Some companies have not properly trained their bargain basement staff how to avoid picking up diseases themselves at these hospitals. Why are all the senior cabinet ministers close to the dope dealing/ influence peddling scandal resigning?????
  10. And just WHO is this organization anyhow. Anyone can say what they wish. Get another known organization to back up these ridiculous claims. Its a joke. I could find a site that would claim that the moon really is made of green cheese; doesn't mean anything
  11. It sure in the heck is. The USA ignores international decisions and to abide by the rules. It thinks that because it used to be wealthy it can make the rules. Same with Bush; He was elected president of the USA ONLY He was not elected as a leader of the world.
  12. No but check around Miami Beach and you will find a large portion are criminals that have come from Cuba. Castro encouraged and allowed them to go. Cuba shouod be richer and would be if not for US sanctions and American tourists forbidden to visit Cuba.
  13. Since when??? Federal Liberals, maybe. What has Campbell done; he destroyed reasonable safe healthcare in this province. Next September they will tie tuition increases to inflation; Now after they allowed massive increases. Sorry not impressed with the record; neither are a lot of his tops ministers who have resigned one after another. We haven't forgotten his DUI charges in Hawaii nor the raid on the legislature and the as yet to be disclosed results other than the ministerial aids who were influence peddling and drug peddling. No way would I vote in those Conservatives in Liberal clothing. Me too, the unemployment line
  14. Not at all; We must fight fire with fire. If we want to trade fairly with the bullying USA; we have to stand up to the bully.
  15. What do other BC ers think of Campbells pre election "eat your veggies" throne speech. I agree with Carole James. They are going for slogans rather than presenting any insight into the impprtant issues facing this province.
  16. I see what all this has led to; Prince Charles is marrying his "rottweiller" Camilla.
  17. Personally, I prefer Miracle Whip; much better flavour.
  18. You are ridiculous!!!!!! That is libel!!!! That is garbage!!!
  19. The Quebec separtists were around in full strength long before; called the FLQ and much more militant than the BQ. As for the heading insinuating that Canada does not have a true democracy; according to the USA congress we are TOO democratic and have too many rights. Wish I still had the reports.
  20. Yeah, well Mulroney made a lot of the country swear off of the Conservatives. long term not just Quebec.
  21. You thought that was funny??????? Actually, I have no problem with hunters or farmers owning long guns (shot guns or rifles) I was raised with these weapons in the home and very well trained to not touch without permission or when allowed to use very responsibly (shooting into the hill, etc) However, children today cannot be threatened to be skinned alive if they disobeyed; nor have the crap beat out of them. It kept us in line much moreso than parents can today; especially with two working parents and limited punishments allowed by law. Plus, while my father was strict; he was , also, very careful . Many other hunters are very careless and gung ho while hunting and have accidently shot someone else or themselves. As I mentioned before; two teenage neighbour brothers got into an argument; the younger brother grabbed a handy gun and shot his brother. He immediately regretted his action when he saw his brother laying there dying and called the police and ambulance; but too late. Both were nice boys; but a weapon was too easily available in the heat of passion. A trigger is much less personal and easily dispatch than a knife. Register all guns and qualify all gun owners; this should not unduly bother anyone with a real reason to own these weapons. Comparing guns to automobiles as a vehicle of death is NOT comparable. Guns are for one reason only; killing and can be used without much fear of detection. Automobile, may be used for killing, as you say; but that is not their primary use.
  22. Prove it. Where do you get the idea that ALL diagnosis is made from this one book. ?????" Doesn't sound likely or wise to me. If this were true; how come there are many differing diagnosis from two "experts" when assessing whether someone is "legally insane"?????
  23. There is nobody here who does back up their own argument with any facts. It is not worth the time or trouble. This is just forum light. Those who ask for "proof" never post any reliable sources supporting their own argument. You come across as arrogant and with an aggravating 200 questions without stating any position or evidence of your own. You give the impression that you believe yourself to be intellectually the superior of any poster here. If you want to debate "facts" okay, otherwise you are just a waste of time.
  24. How soon we forget. It is not many years ago when the black man was just a piece of property . Even after slavery was finally abolished in the USA; black people were still treated as non people asked to sit in the back of the bus; refused service in many establishments and trated like a stray dog. It was only forty years ago when I had a conversation with an American Airman stationed in Canada. He admitted that they would kill blackmen by hitting them with their cars and just dispose of the body like it was a stray dog. He was disgusted with his own behavior; but that was how he was raised to react in the south. He had made friends with fellow airmen who were black. My girl friend simply danced with a black man at a dance held on the base and they were ready to beat the fellow up and ostracized my friend. There was no romance; simply a dance. The USA does not, even now, really treat the black people as equals. Look what the settlers in America did to the natives; that was one of the largest genocides in history. The USA has no right to criticize other countries and the treatment of its citizens. Most muslim countries have outlawed the worst treatment of females that you believe to be present throughout the Muslim countries.
