America's Proxy War: Vietnam
caesar replied to Grantler's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Grantler; August is very anti Canadian. He seems to think the USA can do no wrong and Canada no right. I do believe he is from Quebec; probably French; yet does not realize how little respect the Americans have for anything with a French flavour. The American authorities tried to make France and the French people the reason that they were not able to get world support for their unwise illegal invasion of Iraq. August likes to demean others who do not share his narrow view point. -
We have always had premiums in BC; this latest was an increase. Campbell is spending our tax money on the Olympics; an expensive upgrade road to a ski hill (Whistler) and now this upcoming RAV line to the airport. Seniors contributions to prescription costs first increased by the Liberals at the start of their term; then a few months later; were dramatically increased with the senior paying the complete cost of the prescriptions up to a deductible. We are far from wealthy seniors but have a reasonable pension and a small RRIF. We must pay the first 1000 than 25% of the next 700. Many services to all were delisted; chiropractors, physio therapy, regular eye exams to mention a few. Physio can cost 50 per visit; sometimes prescribed 2 x a week; that could cost over 400 per month while you wait 6 to 9 months to see a specialist; then it could be another 6 to 9 months to have an operation unless it is an emergency. My son and son in law were injured on the same weekend (separate accidents) My son in law crushed both feet; while he got immediate treatment; he had to give up the physio which was helping as he couldn't pay as he couldn't work for 6 months. My son ended up paying for his own MIR as he waited 6 months to see the specialist; then was told it would be 9 months until he could get an MIR unless he wanted to pay for it out of his pocket; then he was scheduled for the next week. Physio at 4oo per month when you don't even know the problem is more expensive; but the government pays zilch. We have a fairly healthy economy now due to higher fuel prices and China's appetite for our coal; of course the government takes the credit.

I would hope so. Here in BC we had our premiums raised again; we lost all coverage for chiropractors, physio, regular eye exams. And the waiting list for surgeries, MIRs and assorted testing grows longer and longer. Many of us have to dig deep and go to private clinics which are operating here Seniors here are paying much more for prescriptions if they have a half decent pension. over a thousand dollars MORE for my husband Ontario is lucky

Nope; BC voted Liberal which is supposed to be a central party but we got extreme right wing

If that is all you are qualified for; that's where you must start. You need some work experience to put on a resume. Show you are worth something and you can move up in the company and then apply elsewhere. Sitting on your duff; expecting everyone else to support you gets you no where. Quit making excuses; most of us didn't have rich or connected parents to get our jobs; you have to go out and keep applying for work until you get hired. You can work your way through college and get student loans to help. All I hear from you is poor excuses

Well so much for the surplus here in BC. According to the papers; BC is heading towards increasing the deficit by 4 billion if the Liberals get in next term. Thought they were supposed to balance the budget by law.

The USA and its misuse of the veto is the corruption in the UN, Get rid of the permanent 5 and things may become more viable.

A claim withdrawn from legal prosecution does not mean that the act did not happen; just that she has no solid proof. That happens often.

Why was this 12 year old child put on this drug? It has been found to cause emotional disturbances in some children. And WHY did these grandparents leave a gun where a child who was already having behavioral problems able to access it????

Those are the dumb acts that got him booted out and nearly destroyed the Conservatives. He did Canada no favour with his Free Trade agreement and certainly won no friends (other than accountants) with his GST.

The Current SSM Bill, Having an Identity
caesar replied to yvestar's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
This appears to be a male chauvanist pig interpretation ; giving women the value of O. Why not use x and y x + x = 2x y+y= 2y x+y=+y -
With all the cuts to services and health care; plus increased costs to seniors for pharmacare; higher premiums, taxes, gas taxes; etc. Plus all our assets sold; there should be a much higher surplus than that. That is not even equal to the extra transfer payments from the feds.

Yes, Let's look at credibility. There is none here with Campbells budget. Where is our healthcare? Where is the help for kids at risk??? Instead of treating addictions; this government is handing out free illegal drugs. This is no better than their drug dealing ministerial aides.

I beleieve that it is the USA influence that is making a big deal out of registering guns. We would not have such a problem with illegal firearms if they were not so easily available from the USA. The USA likes to poke its nose into Canadian affairs re legalizing marijuana which amazingly has already been decriminalized in many American states, already. The USA likes to point to Canada as a source of illegal aliens in their country; yet, most of the terrorists of 9/11 were legally in the USA on student visa; recieved flying instructions within the USA. Clean up their own back yard before they start pointing fingers eh.
-
Give it a rest TAWK; everything on this forum is opinion> We can and you can always find questionable sources to back up any opinion; they just lack any real credibility. That is why I have decided not to bother unless I am talking to a reasonable poster. Are we going to ask the administrator to rate the sources as credible or not.

You have a point there; why would they; "THEY" are all American picked political appointees. It is not a "FREE" election while the USA states that it would not tolerate an theocratic government. It should not be the USA approved only. The Iraq invasion was illegal and all repairs to the infrastructure should be borne by the USA. Iraq is not back to what it was prior to the invasion. That only allows him to lead the USA; it does not give him carte blanche in the rest of the world. That is a dictatorship to the world. That is not his democratic rights!!!! Might does not make right; it makes the USA a bully and dictatorship to the rest of the world

Oh I speak for a big majority. Seniors, women and children. The only people happy are the rich business people who are now richer while the rest of us are hurting in the pocketbook and suffering from degraded health care. Proper fiscal management???? Fish farms are allowed to get out from under back payments and rents lowered (Campbell has shares in a fish farm) Despite selling off most of our BC assets; Campbell has driven up the deficit. This RAV line will probably make the fast ferries look like a great deal. Do you think teachers, nurses, or anyone other than the overpaid doctors will be voting for Campbell. Now we have a bunch of BC doctors that sit back and write prescriptions for American patients they have never seen For this they get a small fine. Then there is the safe streets act; Now our police will be hassling these people and issuing them fines that they will never pay. Much the same way they issue them fines for riding skytrain. Fines they just toss. Just a waste of time and our resources. Mental patients should be held in a structured compound not left to sleep on the streets. Keeping them loose on the streets to be preyed on by their drug dealing ministerial aides???

Bingo gate was long ago. Glen Clarkes deck was overblown. I am not strong on the NDP anyhow but they sure are more hoenest and straightforward than these Campbell Liberals. Campbell should have resigned as he demanded of others for lesser offenses in the past. Dope dealers working as ministerial aids. Bc Rail was promised not to be sold; but was and at a loss as it is making great money now carting coal. Seniors have been hurt as have children at risk. Medical services are below any acceptable level despite the increase in premiums and increased costs to seniors for prescriptions. This government has been downgraded by the UN and human rights groups. The Liberals are the ones who gave away the ferries. That was a real dumb move and calculated to make the NDP look bad no matter what it cost the taxpayers. Then there was RAV; If at first you don't succeed; vote vote again. Now those businesses on Cambie find out that they will have tunneling done fron the street and destroy their business without compensation. Nice.

Well we will be saying a happy good bye to that lying alcoholic come May 11th. You must be a right wing Albertan to believe that BCers want more of the same. Government undercover; promises broken; scandals of drunk driving arrests; illegal payoff of debts to the premiers wife's cousin. Drug dealing ministerial aides. Sounds really great eh
-
As I have said before; even the USA does not believe they are more democratic than Canada. Their complaint is that Canada is TOO democratic and allows too many human rights.
-
Now this I got a chuckle from. Your ex wife may not find it quite so funny though
-
Now that is funny. Like your handling of the situation. I agree that a swat on the rear is better than raising disrespectful kids. There is a difference between safe punishment and abuse. Sounds like we both know the difference.

Where in any communist country do you believe that any education is free and "flexible" I am pretty sure that the authorities would decide if you have enough potential and there are jobs available for any select training. Your wages would be controlled and would not rival wages in a capitalistic country where you control your own fate and earning power. Help paying for an education is available in Canada. If you have excellent grades in school ; you can get awards, bursaries or grants towards your education. You can take out student loans to pay for your education. You can choose to take out a more minor degree; prove yourself to a company and there are many who will pay for your furthuring your education.

US Missile Shield over Canada
caesar replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Of course BD; that is exactly why these so called "rogue nations" are declaring their possession of nuclear weapons; to attempt to dissuade the USA from attack them. Bush has not scared these nations into disarming; he has scared them into arming themselves to the teeth. Especially, since Iraq declared that they did not possess WMD; allowed UN weapons inspectors into the country; destroyed borderline illegal weapons and then still were invaded. That was the stupidest action I have ever seen from any country. Celluci should keep his big mouth shut. -
Should Canada give up on its failing Forces....
caesar replied to Stoker's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Fortunata; I generally agree with your ideas. The military should be first for self defense and trained to assist in natural or man made disasters. The Coast guard should be consider part of the military. We do need a navy to patrol our coasts. Not so sure that we would want subs for the north but ice cutters, an airforce and scatter forces in the North to observe. As a peacekeeping force; we are part of a force of many nations. I don't think that in that capacity we need to supply all man power or equipment. As a small nation by population as are many other nations; for peacekeeping we should concentrate on one area of expertise and have the other smalled allies supply a different equipment or expertise. There is not much sense in banding together and each coming with our inadequate forces. This of course, can only be done with other stable nations.
