US Alaska oil drilling plan "big mistake" - Canada
caesar replied to anticlimates's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Yes, right. Ignore environmental damage as long as that oil keeps flowing. Greed and denial -
That doesn't sound like it is keeping up with inflation or our growing population. Look at all the schools closed.

It is part of the same calving ground for the caribou that is shared by the USA and Canada. Nature recognizes no borders nor do the Gwich'in Indians that depend on this herd. -

Well Kimmy if you cannot see how and why this opposition and legal wrangling and delaying things costs money; What can I say. ONLY That you only see that which you wish to see. Why oppose something and throw up expensive road blocks to something that can only help and would harm no one. It does not deny any one from owning a fire arm that has a valid reason for owning one. It is just another tool for the police to work with, trace weapons and confiscate unregistered (illegal weapons) more readily.

That is a cheap shot and quite uncalled for; I thought better of you Kimmy despite your clouded judgement

I would bet; that this "increase" in funding hardly breaks even with the cuts they made earlier. Anyhow it is just an attempt to suck people back in. I don't think there are too many people dumb enough to fall for it.

High Taxes Send Companies Away
caesar replied to I miss Reagan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
And if we factor in what we get from the government in services such as healthcare; I would say we are financially ahead and can feel more secure that we will not have to sell everything up to and including the kitchen sink to pay for necessary health care (if we are lucky enough to have enough to sell to cover the costs) Hugo; you are purposely using distorted "logic" in your arguments. Try arguing on real logic eh. -
It certainly is effective. We have much less of the violence with guns that we see in the USA. 8 people dead at a church meeting; would that have happened if guns were not so easily available. A seven year old boy shot himself in the hand at school. Why was a gun so easily found by a child???? Unfortunately, living so close to the USA where guns are sold very easily; many illegal guns are getting into Canada.

Perhaps in the USA government would quit interfering in other countries business and trade fairly according to signed agreements; people would buy more USA goods. I try not to buy any USA goods now and will continue to boycott American goods until the start trading within the agreements. BUY CANADIAN or at least from countries that follow the international trade agreements. -

In this case, Canada's concern is because they share this area that would be affected. -
I was more referring to his constant "probably" rather than arguing facts. It was a little too much guessing not facts.

Nonsense; they were badly abused not killed. The USA's treatment of its natives was considered a genocide.

If this kind of sickening misinformation was addressed to the Jews; this would be called "Hate Literature" for sure. If it is not hate literature; it is very close to being so. I guess all those diseases that wiped out the natives plus the introduced booze was a great benefit according to bacon. geeesh!!!!! That being said; I sure wish we had that ignore button.

The Cuban government greatly wishes the USA to leave Cuban soil. Before the USA goes around telling others to leave territories that are not their own; they should follow the same course. Get out of Cuba; the Cuban government refuses the pittance the USA offers. The USA would just pass a law to get some entity off their soil; The Cubans cannot challenge the over powerful USA. The USA government seems to think it can order everyone around; including Canada. The USA has no legal grounds for giving orders.

You are an idiotic nitwit.

We have been a rich province for a long time; Our short term dip into the have not; had more to do with punishing duties from the USA regarding our forestry industry. One of BC's largest industries. We have more people dying after be turned away at emergency. Cuts to children"s ministries. That was a 16 year old ward of the courts out stealing cars and gas that caused the death of a 24 year old gas station attendant. What good is an improving economy which does not allow enough of the money being earned to support and feed the workers adequately. We don't need a few fat cats that take all the cream while the workers starve.

bbacon; grow up. Don't be making dumb insulting names for any of our government s or their members. It just shows your juvenile outlook. Immigration is a Federal concern. We need immigrants to keep this country running efficiently and supporting our population. People are not producing children as in previous generations. When they become Canadians and pay taxes; they have just as much right as anyone else to vote and dtermine where they would like to see their money spent. Other than first nations people; we are all immigrants or off springs of immigrants. Many immigrants are better informed about our government system than are the locals. By the way; healthcare is NOT free to anyone; it is part of what we recieve for the taxes we ALL pay.

Niagra Falls and many many other environmental problems are done deals; before we knew better or anyone cared. Do we have to continue our mistakes of the past; cannot we learn. This oil drilling in Alaska may endanger an animal species and hurt the native tribes that depend on these herds for their food. That does not mean that we should not endeavor to clean up and protect areas like the Niagra falls -
Argue facts not fiction or whatever suits your warped outlook.

Bush government behind 9/11 will come out in 2005
caesar replied to paulpaul's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Paulpaul; try a little mainstream media sources. You and your sources seem to be playing without a full deck. -
Mulroney did not decrease the deficit. He increased the deficit by that figure. The deficit was only reduced under the Chretien/Martin regime.

US Missile Shield over Canada
caesar replied to theloniusfleabag's topic in Canada / United States Relations
And WHY???? does the UN get ham strung and unable to carry out missions in a timely manner?? It is becasue those nations that carry a veto do not bargain in good faith. There are bribes and threats that are used to bargain. (very openly as we seen Bush and Co at work trying to get support during the lead up to the Iraqi invasion ) Vetoes are used for political reasons and not on a international and good faith basis. Perhaps we need to have human rights groups and peace movements involved in the selection of delegates to the UN. Another stumbling block at the UN is that the UN has no mechanisms to collect its own revenue; not even its own armies to command. Without the needed revenues and military; it is completely dependent on the member nations to pay their dues and act in good faith. The USA has always been the biggest dead beat nation when it comes to paying its UN dues. Bush Jr did pay a lot of the back payments when attempting to secure support for his Iraqi invasion (more one of his bribes rather than any support to allow the UN to function) The UN needs to be allowed to make some changes; vetoes do need to be examined and done away with. Selection of delegates to the UN should be more independent from political control. The permanent 5 members fails to adjust as nations powers and influence wax and wane or for those who fail to pay their dues.
