The left outed once again
Montgomery Burns replied to B. Max's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I would like to send a big Thank You to the Texas Brownies who sent Joshua Sparling Get Well Cards to Joshua Sparling...the injured soldier who received a "Get Well" card from an anti-freedom idiot who wished Sparling would die. I saw the cards on the internet and they were cute. Nice to see that some people don't seem to think that soldiers are "suckers", Like Black Dog does. -
Ken Dryden--who appears to have taken too many hockey pucks in the head--claims that 1 in 7 mothers (14%) with pre-school children are in the workforce. Ergo, 86% of mothers are exempt. The CP needs to use stronger terms to describe the Liberal child daycare plan. "Communes" sounds about right--or "The Little Socialist Thought Control Camp". Germany has implemented this system of pre-school indoctrination for their young children and their school books deride the USA. There is no doubt in my mind that the socialist Liberal Party will do the same thing. Their track record is proof. Harper needs to stand up and say: "Canadians are hardworking and smart, and don't need govt to run their lives for them". Martin's plan is outright socialism, if not communism. Build, buy, or lease office buildings from loyal liberals. Demand all provinces agree. Discredit anyone who disagrees as "American". All child care workers must be govt certified/accredited. Force bloated greedy unionization on workers. Ban all non-govt certified/accredited babysitters. Hiring your sister or mother-in-law to babysit will be against the law. Grandma/Grandpa can't take care of their grandchildren and get some compensation for it. Striking child care workers will become all to common--every 2 or 3 years. Basically it comes down to govt warehousing/indoctrination of children versus parental choice. This is utter madness. I hope the hell that Canadians aren't this stupid.

Okay, I understand that ideology is everything to the left. That is just the way they are. Who could ever forget Maryland State Senator Lisa Gladden--a black Baltimore Democrat--saying "party trumps race, especially on the national level" in response to Democrats throwing Oreo cookies at black Republican Michael Steele during a speech? I understand that ideology is everything to the leftwing press, because they continue to report false information despite their credibility and subscribership dropping every day. But this has to be the most dishonest headline ever: Headline: Israeli Suicide Bomber Kills Five at Mall I am not blaming Yahoo News because they, like most of the press, get their news from the leftwing Associated Press which has been caught lying numerous times. You know, I hate to see people put out of work, but I have to admit that it brings a big smile to my face when I read about readership/subscribership steadily droppping at nearly ALL of the leftwing media sources. I want to see more layoffs at the NY Times and its affiliates; I want to see more layoffs at the LA Times and its affiliates. You lying leftwing &%$&@ reporters/editors deserve everything you get. The ASSociated Press was the organization that reported that Bush supporters booed Clinton's name at a Bush rally when Bush wished Clinton good luck on his then upcoming heart surgery. Thank God for the Fox News Channel who happened to be at the same rally and had audiotape proving that the "booing" was another outright fabrication by the leftwing MSM. Now you know why the left foams at the mouth at the mere mention of the FNC; now you know why the Liberal Party-controlled CRTC had a 5 year ban on the FNC in Canada. This is a perfect example of how much the left hates democracies (Israel), as they constantly demonize this country in the ME. You communist/national socialists can go and F yourselves. I may be just a small business owner on the Canadian prairies, but I will fight you bastards to the bitter end. And when the headline is changed (a constant dishonest tactic employed by the leftwing media), be assured that the rightwing bloggers have saved your original headline! And that is why you HATE the bloggers (rightwing ones) and constantly sneer at them. Rathergate was a bitch, wasn't it?

If true--a big if--this is worrisome: You may recall that al-Walid bin Talal is the billionaire Saudi Prince whose offer of $10 million after the 9/11 atrocities was rejected by Rudy Giuliani, because al-Wahid bin Talal wanted Giuliani to blame 9-11 on the Mid East's eternal boogyman--the Jooos. Please Fox News. You are basically the only MSM news source that is not pulling for the Islamofascists to defeat democracy in Iraq and basically the only MSM news source that is not advocating the destruction of the democratic Mid East country called Israel. Please don't let down the millions who rely on you for fair and balanced reporting. I'll cancel my Fox News feed if you do.

The hate continues.... No wonder the left foams at the mouth at the mention of the Fox News Channel. Dollars to doughnuts the liberal media will not report this. Look, I understand that you are anti-enforcement of the broken ceasefire. I understand that you are anti-enforcment of the broken 16 Chapter VII (binding) UN resolutions. I understand that you have nothing but utter contempt for those brown-skinned Iraqis who are trying to create a democracy after decades of living under a mass-murdering totalitarian dictator. I understand that you think that the US military personnel are nothing but a bunch of baby-killing blood-drinking rednecked National Socialists (Nazis), but isn't this taking things too far? You have previously mocked and taunted injured US soldiers arriving and leaving Walter Reed hospital. You have previously produced mock coffins draped with the American flag at Walter Reed hospital. Why? Why are your hearts filled with so much hatred? Why do you hate freedom fighters so much? Thank you Fox News for reporting this and I hope that Joshua receives many many Christmas cards from liberty-loving people throughout the world. -
House Democrats Embarassed
Montgomery Burns replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yeah, but Clinton went in with NATO and was successful. On June 30, 1999, the UN Security Council approves a resolution that authorizes the plan for peace in Kosovo by a vote of 14-0. http://www.infoplease.com/spot/kosovo-timeline1.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> June 30, 1999? A little late, no? -
Trudeau was a socialist, so of course he wanted to stop those "uppity" Albertans who dare to work hard and believe that they should have some kind of reward for doing so. Socialists are all about class envy..."he/she is doing too well". We all know what Trudeau thought of Westerners--his infamous middle finger salute said it all. Moreover, Marc Lalonde admitted that the NEP was mainly about politics. The more successful Alberta became, the more people would move there (Alberta's population has exploded and it now at 3.25 million) and that would give Alberta more power (seats) in the country. The socialist Liberal party under Trudeau couldn't have that--those Albertans are kinda 'Murican-like". Notwithstanding that the Canadian Constitution says natural resources belong to the provinces, not the feds. Anyone who dismisses this has nothing but contempt for the Constitution.

You're afraid?
Montgomery Burns replied to Montgomery Burns's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Apparently he was running (jogging?) during the early hours of the morning. Probably why the cops were suspicious. Perhaps some crime happened nearby at that time. I dunno...I wasn't listening to saskatoonscanner.com at that time. But yeah, the S'toon police and the Native community have a contentious relationship. Both need to smarten up, but I guess I favor the cops because I have seen how the Natives cry racism at the drop of a hat here. There has been enough instances where the cops have been cleared of accusations of wrongdoing by Natives. The press tends to give that little attention, though...perhaps because SIGA is a fairly major contributor to our local paper. -
Michael Moore Owns Haliburton!
Montgomery Burns replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Slavik, you don't endorse a disengenous filmmaker who is disliked by the majority of Americans. Fahrenheit 9-11 was not a successful film no matter how much the MSM said it was. Hollywood and Cannes can bestow as many awards on it as they like, but the fact is that is finished in 228th place. The only places it did well in America was in the bluest of the blue states. You don't give a choice seat--beside an ex-prez--at the DNC to a dishonest American-hating person like Michael Moore. You do realize that that energized the Republican base. It was stupid for the Democrats to publically embrace a kook like him. One thing I have noticed is that rightwingers generally shun or ignore their kooks. While leftists bring up Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, I know few, if any, righties who support or stick up for people of that ilk. But the lefties support or stick up for Michael Moore. We have even seen this on MapleLeafWeb. Rightwing bigots like David Duke are shunned and attacked by rightwingers, yet Robert Byrd (D-KKK) is often dubbed "the conscience of the Senate" by Democrats. -
House Democrats Embarassed
Montgomery Burns replied to Shady's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
It was all poltical rhetoric by the Democrats (except for those 3 idjits) as they continue to do everything in their power to see Iraq's democracy fail. Just wait. It is going to get worse in the next few days as the Dec 15 Iraqi election approaches. The Democrats will do everything they can to undermine it. Btw, does anyone know when the Kosovo Quagmire will end? What Christmas was Clinton talking about when he said, "the troops will be home by Christmas" when he attacked Kosovo without the authorization of Congress and the Holy Sainted UN? -
The left outed once again
Montgomery Burns replied to B. Max's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Oh the delicious dodging. Why does it not suprise my that you skip over the oreo cookie throwing incident and head straight for the more "important" issue! That fact is, that anyone of the liberals that participated in oreo cookie throwing incident directed at the LT-governor of Maryland for being a black Republican are assholes. Plain and simple. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not only that, but the Democrats justified their throwing Oreo cookies at Steele because "party trumps race". Like I have always said, ideology is everything to the left. Two male lefties even attacked Ms. Coulter with pies when she gave a speech in Arizona. Of course, that is nothing new; they attacked David Horowitz, Bill Kristol and Pat Buchanan with pies when they were giving speechs....not to mention that Democrat who tried to murder Katherine Harris last year. Hate-filled emotional infantiles who commit violence on people who disagree with their ideology... -
Are you sure you're only 17? When I was 17, I was only interested in getting lai....er, never mind. Regarding your question about democracy, Winston Churchill once said, "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of govt except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." I suspect he was comparing democracy to the other political ideologies that Europe gave this world--Communism, National Socialism (Nazism), and Fascism. As for negative campaigning, that is a staple of Canadian politics. Same with the US and probably all countries. I have not forgotten when the NDP knocked on my elderly Grandmother's door and scared the hell out of her by telling her that the conservative Saskatchewan Party was going to cut healthcare if they were elected. I still remember my anger driving to work and seeing that NDP billboard saying that the NDP would not lower minimum wage like the Sask Party was going to (a Sask Party member once made an off-the-cuff remark that some people are willing to work for less than minimum wage--which is true). Remember when the federal Liberals ran that ad during the 2004 election showing a gun pointing towards you when the Conservative Party was mentioned? All parties use negative campaigning. The trick is find a balance between negative campaigning and having a positive message. I favor a conservative/libertarian rightwing party because they are not based on class envy like the leftwing parties--who are always trying to take the money of hardworking productive people and giving it to the non-productive. When I say the non-productive, I mean the lazy people out there...and YES, some people are just damn lazy. I also find that rightwingers tend to be realists as opposed to leftwingers whose arguments tend to be based on emotions. I also believe that one, if not the most important thing, a govt should do is protect its citizens from its enemies. Conservatives are noted for advocating a reasonably strong defense/military. Leftwingers are usually noted for being weak on defense, because they seem to have this utopian idea that if you give dictators/despots/tyrants a nice flower (an organic one, of course) and sing Kumbaya to them, that the bad guys will do them no harm. History has proven that this is naivety of the highest order. I am also a big proponent of personal responsibility. I loathe big govt because I believe that nobody can mange my money as well as I do. I have friends/acquaintances who work for the govt and even they will, grudgingly, admit that the govt is very wasteful and inefficient. They will tell me--after a few drinks--that a private business would fail if ran like the govt. Private business is much more effective and efficient. I also believe in competition because it results in companies being forced to become more efficient; govts are often monopolies and have little or no incentive to be efficient. Excuse my constant use of "efficient"--it was my favorite word from my Business Administration classes. Fiscally, I am very conservative/libertarian. I believe the more money that people are allowed to keep, the more that they will spend/invest. This results in greater economic activity, which results in businesses having to hire more people, and/or expand. We all can see how the US economy is absolutely rocking since Bush twice lowered taxes. Indeed, their last quarter was revised to a 4.3% GDP growth and they created 212,000 jobs last month. It only took 27 months for the US to create 5 million jobs after Bush's 2nd taxcut in the spring of 2003. I was pleased to see Stephen Harper say--the other day--that he considers tax money to be money belonging to Canadians. Reminded me of what Bush said a couple of years ago in response to a question from the always hostile-to-conservatives liberal media--"Doggone it (he's a Texan )--it is the people's money and I think they should be able to keep more of their money." I also believe in personal freedom. I think parents should have the choice of daycare, not being forced to pay $5 billion in taxes to put their children in govt-run daycare centres--whether you want to or not. I'm not a huge fan of socialist healthcare, but I do recognize that it is a staple of Canada. As you probably know, we continue to spend more and more billions on govt-run healthcare and the waiting lists get longer and our per capita ratio of MRIs and CatScans is embarrasingly low compared to the US. Did you know that private healthcare is illegal in Canada? Private healthcare is illegal in 2 other countries in the world; the totalitarian Communist countries of North Korea and Cuba. Nice company we have, huh? I believe that private healthcare should be an option for Canadians. Socially, I am moderate--at least that is the results I get when I take those political quizzes. Anyways, I commend your interest in politics--for such a young lad.

PocketRocket: Huh? Calling a tired directionless scandal-plagued government--tired directionless and scandal-plagued is name-calling? One could argue about the tired part, but they are directionless (huge spending on social programs one month, then later on they offer nearly $30 billion in taxcuts), and you can't possibly deny that they are a scandal-plagued govt.

Kimmy: Me thinks that August1991 is probably correct. However, it was strange to hear Hargrove say that this Liberal/NDP coalition is the best for Canada--right after he gave the NDP the boot and threw his support behind the Liberals. Apparently, some of the union members are not too happy with Hargrove for suggesting that union members vote for the Libs. I do not like Hargrove. I have not forgotten his suggestion that GM is hurting because they weren't selling their vehicles at top price--they were discounting some of their product. Hargrove failed to mention that the union's vast benefits are hurting the company--$1500 per vehicle in healthcare costs alone. GM's unionized hourly employees pay no deductibles, and pay only 7% for their healthcare costs versus 27-32% paid by the average US salaried worker. The union's demands hurt their own job security. Note: GM is also to blame for allowing this to happen and for not putting out a more appealing line of vehicles that is attractive to the public.

The CBC reported Robinson running today on their website. Here is what our state-run taxpayer-funded CBC reported: Apparently those two are the only ones running in Vancouver Centre, at least in the liberal la-la land of the CBC. Conservative candidate Tony Fogarassy is not even mentioned in the article. Your tax dollars at work...

Attack on Christmas
Montgomery Burns replied to southerncomfort's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
As for the Aussies, I agree with the other posters. They are tough, come across as regular folk--not elitist snobs, and under conservative leader John Howard--who was reelected to a 4th term--have grown into the 8th largest economy in the world. Additionally, their military is credible and commands some respect--just like Canada's used to. If I recall correctly, they--along with the US--were the first to respond to the tsunami in Indonesia. Not bad for a country with only 20 million people. -

Harper won't siften marijuana possession laws
Montgomery Burns replied to normanchateau's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If the one poster is correct about 47% of Canadians supporting the legalization of marijuana, that does not speak well for Canadians. I do not want this country to turn into another Netherlands where dope is sold and smoked in coffee houses. But I am suspicious of that 47% figure and would like to see some proof. However I do think that people should not be subjected to a criminal record for possessing a small amount of pot. However, I believe that the amount allowed is not small; I believe it is 14 grams--which is a lot of weed. I have heard that pot is a gateway to harder drugs, but I am not sure that I agree with that. I think that once you legalize pot, what drug would be next to be legalized? That said, I think decriminalization for small amounts is reasonable and fair. Why get a criminal record if you are caught with a couple of joints? Besides, the pot that the govt has grown for people for medicinal purposes has been crappy pot. The govt can't even do that right. -
shoop: I guess we agree to disagree. Having met Ezra once, seeing him on TV, and reading his thoughtful analysis of Canadian politics, I find him to be a breath of fresh air. It is insulting that you refer to him as the equivalent of scarascar. Is the Western Standard's Colby Cosh also a histrionic doomsayer? WS's Father Raymond J. de Souza? Kate McMillan? Then why complain that I posted something from the Western Standard? I'm unsure what that has to do with telling a reporter that "Alberta can blow me". If he said that, he could've used a better term, but I am not a fan of Political Correctness and don't find it "embarrassing and childish" about calling a Japanese person a "Jap". Gook would be embarrassing and childish. I certainly don't find it embarrassing and childish if someone refers to Ukrainians--like myself--as Ukes. I wonder if we are even talking about the same Mark Steyn, who is generally considered one of the most insightful (and entertaining) conservative columnists out there? Do you read his articles? I am more offended when Vancouver's former mayor (Campbell) refers to conservatives as barbarians. I am not a barbarian. I truly feel that a majority of Canadians believe in most conservative/libertarian values, but have trouble getting their voices heard because of Canada's MSM. No, rightwing writers like Levant and Steyn should not be marginalized. Canada is already doing this by hauling an Alberta preacher before a Human Rights Commission for preaching Catholic doctrine, a MP being hauled before a HRC for sending out flyers to his constituents that points out the problem with Indian, oops, Native, oops, First Nations crime. There was a teacher in BC who was suspended from work for writing a letter to the editor saying he believed that the 2000 year definition of marriage should remain the same. Nothing these people said was over the top. And then, of course, there was the 5 year ban of the Fox News Channel by the CRTC-controlled Liberal Party. What has to be done is move this country to the right--like Reagan did in the US. Otherwise we are nothing but Liberal Lite--like the old federal PC Party.
