  1. And with the amount of attention MOST Americans pay to Canada and her affairs, I'm sure he hurt the feelings of a guy in Podunk, and some lady's cocker spaniel <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn straight. Those Americans should be directing all their attention to us. Haven't they been listening to Paul Martin? WE LEAD THE WORLD!! Sure, half the UN assembly leaves when PMPM gives a speech, but let's just ignore that. WE LEAD THE WORLD...after all, we did sign Kyoto.
  2. I found this op-ed at the Toronto Star written by the progressive (code for extreme leftwinger) Linda McQuaig. It's titled We should speak truth to power more often. She starts off complaining about the rogue Bush administration and its lawless "war on terror" (her sneer quotes, not mine). Then she complains that many thought that Martin's comment (the "global conscience" remark) was out of line when he criticized the US on its refusal to sign Kyoto. Then she claims "a poll found 61 per cent supported Martin for criticizing Washington on this." She offers no proof or anything about this poll. Rather odd, since the CTV online poll (which had over 28,000 votes) had 30% supporting Martin's remarks, and 70% voting that PMPM should "shut up". ------ Remember how foolish Martin ended up looking when it was revealed that the US's greenhouse has emissions had risen 13% since 1990, while Canada's had risen 24.4%? McQuaig then serves up this hilarity: Sure, our record is nearly twice as bad as the USA, but damnit, WE DID SIGN KYOTO so we are the good guys and the US are the bad guys. Speak truth to the power!
  3. I disagree with your assessment. Here's the pic (December 26 entry). I report, you decide.
  4. Anybody see the Party's Christmas Messages/Greetings? The Conservative greeting: Number of words: 58 Number of references to election issues: 0 Number of references to the election: 0 Uses the of word "Christmas": 2 The NDP message: Number of words: 90 Number of references to election issues: 0 Number of references to the election: 0 Uses the of word "Christmas": 1 (plus a Happy Hanukkah, which was nice) The Liberal message is a full page in length: Number of words: 390 Number of references to election issues: 5 Number of references to the election: 2 Uses the of word "Christmas": 0 Source: Angrygwn
  5. Rovik: Nonsense. The lower and middle class spend a higher proportion of their income on GST than the wealthy. Tax the brightest and ambitious higher. That's worked well in Europe, hasn't it? Why are they always complaining about their brain-drain to the US? What great motivation! Work hard and try to get ahead in life...and when you do, we will tax the crap out of you. Another example: A couple of years ago, there was a write-up (with pics) in the Star-Phoenix profiling the top 47 graduates at the Univeristy of Saskatchewan for that year. These were the smartest and the hardest-working students. They will likely go on to make a very good living and pay lots of taxes to the govt. All of them already had jobs waiting fot them. 42 of the 47 had jobs waiting for them in.....Alberta....that province with no PST, a flat tax rate, and a Basic Personal Amount of $14,532. We educate 'em so the Alberta govt can collect their large tax payments. Good deal....for the Alberta govt. A good proposal. What about stay-at-home mothers (or even fathers, I suppose)? What about parents that have grandma look after the kids? Don't you think parents should have the choice of who should look after their kids while they are at work? Your solution is to implement a state-run unionized-govt-worker-run system where they will go on strike at the drop of a hat. Have you forgotten about the 7000 Quebec daycare workers who went on strike the first year and held up the public for a fat raise? Have you forgotten how much the Quebec state-daycare system ended up costing--compared to what it was supposed to cost?
  6. August1991: For reliability, I would take a respected blog over the "mainstream" media any day. Indeed, this story came from a blog. Remember Rathergate? The blogosphere breaking the story of Air America stealing $875,000 from a Brooklyn charity for inner-city children? We would have never heard of the Swift Boat Veterans who came out against Kery if not for the blogosphere (and the Fox News Channel). The big blogs attract a large audience and have to worry about people factchecking their ass if they are posting unreliable information. Because the "mainstream" media will likely ignore it. Yes the Liberals have a 1 point lead nationally in the latest Ipsos-Reid poll and have a 2 point lead in Ontario. Source: National Post. However, there are many undecided voters. It will come down to which side can motivate their base to come out and vote. As Michael Moore's hatemongering motivated the Republican base to come out and vote, "beer and popcorn" remarks, an executive VP of the Liberal Party comparing the wife of a national party leader to a dog, calling Layton an asshole and a weasel, mocking a quadrapalegic (sp?), saying that he wouldn't run for office because he'd have to be nice to "really stupid people"--might hurt that soft NDP support that the Liberals are counting on, and motivate the CP base to make sure they come out and vote. As for the claim that the Liberals haven't gone on the attack against Harper, we must be watching a different campaign. Even the Ipsos-Reid president mentions this in the above NP article:
  7. Newbie: He committed perjury and obstructed justice. But rbid ideologues like yourself can never bring themself to critisize Dear Leader for committing a felony. I'll take a stab at it: Some say that Clinton's inaction was responsible for 9-11, because we do know that 9-11 was planned years in advance.
  8. You actually keep lists of this type of information?... Yikes ... that is bent... The age-old question: why are the right-wingers so obsessed by SEX? ... sex others are having... that is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes this is bent - the left's obsession with sex (courtesy of newbie): And not only did Swaggart have sex with a hooker, but she was ugly! And Jeff Gannon was a gay Republican. Gay. GAy. GAY!
  9. So if they screw around on their wives BEFORE they become president, that makes it all okay??? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But but but Marv Albert calls himself a Republican and he bit his mistress.
  10. newbie: lie. n: Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression lied. v: To present false information with the intention of deceiving. Good grief. Do you think that no one on this forum owns a dictionary? Besides, British intelligence still stands by their uranium claim.
  11. Slavik44: Accusations of rape and exposing yourself to someone is consensual sex? Wow, I didn't know that. Nixon was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice? Wow, I didn't know that. But of course. All Republican presidents are referred to as Playboy Presidents, right? But of course. Those baby-killing blood-drinking fascists do not deserve any credit. Ralph Nader received 19,742,267 votes in 2000? Silly me thinking that he only got 2,882,955 votes. Two words: "Electoral College" Do you know what that is? I'd love to hear what he has to say about Juanita Broderick's accusations, but Clinton doesn't seem to want to talk about that. Except when those hardworking greedy rich people make money. Wow. An NDPer is suggesting I joined the Karl Marx fan club. If you had changed the last name to Rove, you might've come somewhat close. You're right - except when Ann Coulter is heckled and prevented from giving her speech a few weeks back. I've got a better idea. I'll throw some pies at him. That's the respectable and adult thing to do, right? Or maybe I can throw Oreo cookies at him since Toni Morrison did coin him "the first black president."
  12. 1) Here are some official policy quotes I got off the web: Sounds like many of the NDPers on this site. Btw, I got those quotes from the official policies platform at the Communist Party of Canada website. 2) As for the history revisionists who claim that Hitler and his National Socialist party were rightwing, let's take a look at what Adolf Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf: Karl Rove zapped Hitler with his mind-control ray gun! 3) Does anyone know what the second "S" in U.S.S.R was? 4) Let's take a look at what Jack Layton said in an interview last year (top of Page 4): This is from a NDP site.
  13. The moment you denied that Hitler wasn't a socialist, you disqualified yourself as a serious commentator. Study Hitler's policies and his personal beliefs. Do you even know what Nazi is short for? The claim that Hitler was a rightwinger is one of the biggest lies of the 20th century, a lie perpetuated by the academic-controlled left because they did not want to admit that yet another socialist was responsible for the mass murder of innocents. Like the previous commentator told you, nearly all the mass murderers of the 20th century were leftists.
  14. Update: Mike Klander resigns Buh bye Mike. Go drown your sorrows in beer and popcorn.
  15. It does seem unfair that Alberta has 4 less seats than the Maritimes, yet has nearly 1 million more population.
  16. I'm not surprised in the least. A while back, the CBC had a story about a Palestinian homicide bomber killing (as usual) more civilian Jews. When I posted a comment denouncing the Splodeydopes as terrorists, the CBC deleted the word terrorists and replaced it with "militants".
  17. Ferrethouse is correct. It was not made by him, but by some other Muslim who jumped up on the stage and grabbed the microphone. The CCD has issued an apology. Gee, ya think?
  18. I agree. It's embarrassing when tiny Denmark is entering Canadian territory and we are too weak to do anything about it. A country should always be ready to defend its sovereignty, and the threat of force, as history has proven, works wonders. Perhaps having a half-decent military would make us respected on the int'l scene, like we used to be. Let's face it. The world does not respect us anymore. Ever notice how the room empties when Martin gives a speech at the UN?
  19. Scriblett, and if one doesn't have the FNC, one can tune into Fox News Sunday (morning) on the regular Fox channel. Their panel is 2 conservatives and 2 liberals. What is so unfair about that?! Much more compelling TV than watching a panel from the CBC that is typically all liberals who wow the public with scintillating debate such as: Liberal #1: Harper's policies are wrong. Liberal #2: I agree. Liberal #3: Ditto. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzz.
  20. More Klander Klass. Second entry (May 20). Recognize that pic? The same pic that the Liberals are using in their ads to portray Harper and Duceppe as scheming to break up the country (they're actually at a Holocaust Memorial Service). See Klander's caption for the pic? "Bed Buddies?" Underneath Klander writes, "Yes indeed, politics does make for strange bedfellows...but is there more to it? I would bet that his wife couldn't make his eyes roll back into his head like that." More gay "jokes". Ha ha. And on the link in my OP, you can see where he refers to Rahim Jaffer as "the ethnic Rahim Jaffer." Bigot. But I'm not surprised. The left loves to tear apart gays. Who could ever forget them gleefully posting pics of Jeff Gannon (the nobody who worked for an online news service that no one had ever heard of in "The Scandal of the Year") all over the internet from back when he was a gay male escort? And we all know what they think of "ethnics". They do everything they can to keep blacks down (more welfare is the solution!), and if you dare to leave the Democrat Plantation, you are subjected to having oreo cookies thrown at you, or being called an Uncle Tom, or an Aunt Jemima (and their cohorts in the MSM will do everything they can to cover it up). And of course, the Dems filibustering the Civil Rights Act. And having a terrorist group (KKK) as an arm of their party. And even today, we see exactly what they think of those "ethnic" Iraqis.
  21. What is the dictionary version of progressive, or what is "progressive" code for? Progressive is code for socialist moonbats. You ever check out some of those progressive websites? They are angry hate-filled socialists living in a bubble and are totally out of touch with reality (despite their laughable claims of living in the "reality-based community"). I think these November 2004 post-election comments from the wildly popular progressive website called the Democratic Underground sums up the "progressive liberals" very well: DuaneBidoux: "America to World: F*ck Yourself. Let's get the meme out: Boycott American. Corporations. Pass on the Fords, GMs, Coca Cola. When businesses hurt abroad they will begin telling Bush his policy of being world asshole is bad for busines. Buy German products, French products, countries that kept their sanity while Bush pushed this war through. Bush has been bringing this economy to it's knees for four years. Let's give it a last little push. With his f*cked up economic policies it's inevitable anyway...let's just make sure it doesn't get pushed into the next administration. WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO MAKE SURE IT IS THIS SOB THAT SLEEPS IN HIS OWN PILE OF SHIT. If you listened to the right wing this morning you know the score: they want revolution. F*ck this sh*t. This is war." woody b: "Dear friends from Ohio, your vote was stolen. I'm not living in Ohio, not even in the US. But apart from the output of the vote machines, nothing points to the possibility that Bush achieved more votes than Kerry. Neither Zogby's predictions, nor the exit polls, nor the huge queues in front of the electoral places. You're no the only ones whose vote was stolen, but it's the easiest state to prove it. Your own experience, together with a statistical analysis of the data, could make the case for voter fraud. The world will most grateful you if you start a calm revolution by gathering evidence that a lot more people voted for Kerry than for Bush." Q3JR4: "A call to action. Or, COME ON PEOPLE!!!!! Your votes didn't count. If you live in Ohio, Colorado, Florida, they didn't count. Bush stole the election....AGAIN. With the level of voter disenfranchisement, intimidation, and Diebold trickery going on, you think that more people here would see that. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? WHERE IS THE ANGER? ARE WE JUST GOING TO ROLL OVER AND TAKE IT? They stole the election and probably have a special place in hell reserved for them for that, I'm telling you now, complacent Dems will be joining them! You may as well just hand the government to them on a silver platter again and again, because--baring a change in the way we count our votes--we'll NEVER have another majority in ANY branch of this government again! I just can't believe that no one else is pissed off about it! I mean, come on! I'm in IDAHO, a red state, and I'm ready to do something about it. I can understand if there are a lot of pacifists here, and that's good. They can accomplish a lot. We don't need to get violent to create change (or sway public opinion), but we have to do SOMETHING! We can't let them get away with it this time, or next time we're effectively screwed. Come on people! What are we waiting for? Pick the call up and pass it along alread!" PhuLoi: "Secession may be the last option to save the Constitution. Given the unbridgable chasm that has opened between the Blue states and the Red states, I feel that secession should be seriously considered. Blue states are no longer duly represented, votes are not being counted whereas computer created votes seem to be counted. The basic tenants of the Constitution are endangered and we of the Blue states seem powerless to defend them. Let us then consider divorcing ourselves from this abusive relationship and reorganize under the Constituion, as it was intended, leaving the Red states to wallow in their own filth." fdr_hst_fan: "Thanks to the inbred, redneck, Bible-besotted Solid South, we're saddled with the village idiot and his Nazi followers for another four years. The next time the South wants to cecede, I say "Let 'em!" Who needs 'em? In fact, to facilitate matters, we should help them pack! And once they're finally GONE from the Union, we should construct a wall, not unlike the Berlin Wall, to keep them out! I guarantee, after three to five years, they'll come back on bended knee, BEGGING for re-admission to the Union. Then we'll be able to call the tune from that point on! That's the error Lincoln and Andrew Johnson made: they wanted to be "conciliatory" to the Confederacy. Horse hockey! They STARTED that war; they didn't DESERVE any consideration! They didn't stop to consider their actions at Fort Sumter, did they?" Liberal_Andy: "I stopped flying the flag today. I've flown the US flag every sunny day (I'm on my third one)since 9/11. I just can't do it anymore. Maybe on 7/4. We'll see." Mountainman: "I hate America Did you hear that freeps? Several months ago, when ever I saw or heard a wingnut ask a liberal "why do you hate America?" I got pissed. The question didn't deserve an answer. But today I can freely say that I hate America. I hate Bush's America and after this election I guess all of America will be Bush's America. So until people rise up and throw him and the conservatives out of power (There is no doubt in my mind that someday they will be out of power) I hate America. I'm also sure I'm going to hear the 60's chant of "love or leave it." My response back in the 60's was "love it and fix it." Now I guess I would say "hate it and fix it" sort of like when my wife says she hates her hair. To me she is saying that she's tired of the way it is and she's going to do something about it. That's what I mean about "hate it and fix it." What I'm going to do is to get together with like minded people and make little pieces of America that we can love and hopefully those little pieces will grow and connect until we can love all America again." Progressives are the looniest of the loons. Completely out of touch with reality. Stark raving mad idiotarians.
  22. I wouldn't blame Alberta one bit if they seperated. The provinces have control over their own resources and they can do what they want with them. Alberta's conservative govt chooses to use their resources to make them the richest province in Canada. Saskatchewan's equally rich NDP govt refuses to use Sask's resources to make the standard of living higher for their citizens because they have the highest corporate tax rates in Canada, plus they are worried about disturbing the moose. Note: This poll said that 43% of Alberta would "consider" seperating. Considering and doing it is a different ballgame, especially when Albertans have a roaring economy and are more interested in providing their families with a good future. But if the feds try to implement another disasterous NEP program, then I think the shit will hit the fan. Albertans have not forgotten how the Liberal Party (and Lougheed by agreeing to the NEP program) destroyed Alberta's economy back in the 80s. If it happens again, I suspect that Alberta will leave Canada. After all, the OECD predicts that Alberta would be one of the richest countries in the world. I don't know why central Canada worries so much about Quebec leaving. Let Quebec leave if they really want to. They have been a drain on the Canadian economy for goodness knows how long.
  23. Thanks Cybercoma and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you the best in the New Year. P.S. I matched 4 out of 6 numbers in the Dec 24 lotto (1 in 1032 odds). Next is matching 6 out of 6 numbers... Well, a guy can fantasize, can't he?
  24. LioniusFleaBag linked to a site that was very selective in what was reported. Let's take a look at a more in-depth report: Just because he was expelled from Egypt for involvement in the assassination attempt on Hosni Mubarak, doesn't mean he was involved in an Islamic terror group. There ya go. It's an open and shut case. Seriously though...here is a reason why I think that Berlusconi is alright: He has brains and recognizes that there doesn't seem to be much of a jurisdiction, either. A leftist militant anti-American judge in Europe? Say it isn't so.
  25. Obviously you do not consider your civil liberties to be very important. I doubt you be be so sanguine about it if the US targeted one of your friends or relatives. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you want to pay for that paralyzed Khadr guy's health (who was fighting and trying to kill Canadian soldiers), go ahead. Traiterous *bleep* I do NOT want to pay for his healthcare; let Al Qaeda - and you - pay for his lifetime healthcare.
