Carney Articulates The New World Order In Davos
ironstone replied to Zeitgeist's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Probably not. But the fact that the number of food banks has gone from virtually none in the early 70s to around 2725 as of 2026 indicates that the problem has gotten exponentially worse. I think it's dishonest for anyone to suggest that Liberal policies have nothing to do with this. How have things changed in Canada and when was the middle class at a peak? Canada’s middle class richest in world: report "A new analysis from the New York Times published on Tuesday suggests Canada’s middle class has leapfrogged middle-income earners to the south of us and is now the richest mid-level earnings cohort in the world." https://globalnews.ca/news/1284297/canadas-middle-class-most-prosperous-in-world-report/ (This article was written in 2014, just before Justin Trudeau.) -

Because taxes tend to get passed on down the line. You post a link saying there's basically no impact of the ICT on food prices or the agricultural sector and I posted one indicating that government policies, including the ICT, do in fact impact food prices. https://www.fraserinstitute.org/commentary/government-policies-help-push-grocery-prices-higher-canada A standoff. -
In that case, there are a lot of fascists on the streets in Iran. https://spectator.com/article/iran-wants-its-monarchy-back/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/javid-shah-why-iranians-are-calling-for-the-return-of-the-pahlavis-and-their-monarchy/ar-AA1TptL9 I'm not saying that things were exactly rosy under the Shah in the 70s, but maybe it was the lesser of the two evils compared to the Islamist regime that replaced him?

The links that came up for that particular question were from Global News and the Toronto Sun. Even when food from outside Canada comes into the country, it still must be transported to various locations and that involves the use of fossil fuels which are subject to the industrial carbon tax. Canadian farmers are also affected by the industrial carbon tax because of the fuel they use. The tax applies to industries that produce fertilizers, which the farmers also use. It's perfectly reasonable to conclude that the cost of the tax gets passed down and ultimately raises the price of food. >Which leads to food poverty>More people relying on food banks -
It's not much of an answer TBH. It's estimated that there has been more than three times the number of ICE apprehensions in Texas compared to Minnesota. Why is the response in Texas so much calmer compared to MN? Gee, do you think it may have something to do with how each respective state government is reacting to ICE operations? I readily concede that the anti-ICE violence in Minnesota has really taken the spotlight away from the industrial-scale Somali fraud that the Democrats were enabling.

I don't blame everything on them, but their policies have had a large impact on the cost of living in this country. Do you think carbon taxes and mass immigration have not negatively impacted life in Canada? -

Impact of the Liberal Industrial Carbon Tax on Grocery Prices The Liberal industrial carbon tax has notable effects on grocery prices due to its influence on transportation and production costs. Here’s a detailed breakdown of how it impacts the grocery market. Increase in Production and Transportation Costs The industrial carbon tax primarily affects sectors like oil and gas, steel, and agriculture. Its implications can lead to: Higher Energy Costs: Carbon taxes increase the cost of fossil fuels, which are pivotal in manufacturing and transporting food. This results in higher operational costs for food producers, which could be passed down to consumers. Increased Fertilizer Prices: Farmers face elevated fertilizer costs due to taxes imposed on fertilizer production, directly affecting the cost of fresh produce. Supply Chain Disruptions The ongoing economic impacts from the pandemic and geopolitical tensions have strained supply chains further. Carbon taxes can exacerbate these issues by: Creating Uncertainty: Producers may adjust prices preemptively, anticipating additional costs from carbon regulations. This can inflate prices before any concrete cost increase occurs. Disrupting Logistics: Higher transport costs affect the overall ability to deliver goods efficiently, leading to stock shortages or increased pricing to manage fluctuating supply chains. -

Aren't you the least bit curious how this couple can jump from a reported net worth in the tens of thousands range in 2018-2019 to a reported $30 million in such a short time? Is it just a coincidence that Omar is in a state that's infamous for the sheer scale of Somali fraud which likely exceeded a BILLION dollars? Is that the return on investing in Somali daycare operations?🙄 -

Seems like you're saying that basically nothing bad is the fault of the Liberals and their policies since 2015. Blaming the high cost of groceries on climate is a cop-out. And please not that there is still an industrial carbon tax in effect and that certainly has an effect on food prices. Carney recently did a photo op in some grocery store and they made sure to remove all visible prices for the camera lol. -
Blast from the past. Presidential Rank Award. The award is given to senior career executives for "sustained extraordinary accomplishment". According to official citations and contemporary reporting, Mr Homan was recognised for his effectiveness in immigration enforcement during a period when the Obama administration prioritised the removal of undocumented immigrants with criminal records.

Just how deranged are these people? https://www.timesnownews.com/world/us/us-news/who-bit-off-federal-officer-finger-amid-alex-pretti-shooting-dhs-tricia-mclaughlin-shares-details-article-153501991 They are clearly willing to go to great lengths to protect convicted illegal aliens. They are getting inside help from the state Democrats who are providing license plate numbers and information about where agents are staying. -

When he engages with the press, there is back and forth all the time and they do challenge him all the time. Any time he's appeared on any of the big leftist networks like CNN, MSNBC and the like, they push him constantly. The 'right' did not go easy on Obama, but the mainstream media sure did. (FOX being one of the few exceptions) -

Well, it was still easier to buy a home in 1970 than 2024. Your response to 'we are no longer a rich country' Tell that to all the homeless people and those having to depend on foodbanks. "Yes, there are significantly more food banks in Canada now than there were in 1970. In the early 1970s, food banks were virtually non-existent, with the first food bank established in 1981 in Edmonton, Alberta. Since then, the number of food banks has grown exponentially." -

I wouldn't be that generous with Carney's performance so far. I would concede that he has been very successful in using Donald Trump as a distraction from more pressing issues. Grocery prices are still climbing and affordability is a serious problem for millions of Canadians. The cost of living here should get more attention than the boogeyman in the US. Our problems here are largely self inflicted and not the fault of Trump. I suppose I can't blame the Liberals for this tactic of using Trump since it's been so effective and it will still work for them in the next election. It will be all about Trump and how only Carney can handle him. Carney did say Canadians should judge him on grocery prices. https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-carney-not-meeting-his-own-measure-as-food-inflation-climbs-again Search Assist Yes, food prices in Canada rose by 6.2% in December 2025, marking the highest increase since 2023, and they are expected to continue rising by an additional 4% to 6% in 2026. This trend has made Canada the "food inflation capital" of the G7. -

That's rather vague. What precisely happened when 'they arrested them like we always do'? How exactly did they approach the suspect? At the place of employment? Did they gently knock on his door and plead with him to come out? Just one officer? Two or more? You guys keep bringing up masks without acknowledging that there is the very real threat of doxxing. Keep in mind that back in Obama's two terms, I'm sure ICE did not have to deal with protesters actively trying to impede their every move.
