Conservative Leadership September 10th
ironstone replied to Jack9000's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sensitivity training, race and gender diversity etc are far more important to the Liberals than having a sound economy along with a strong oil and gas sector. Promoting woke nonsense over basic common sense does not benefit the country. How high is the price of gas going to go? $2,$3 $4 per litre or more? Does anyone in the Liberal government care about record levels of inflation that Canadians have to deal with? That cost get's passed onto virtually everything. Affordable energy was one of the things that allowed us to have such a high standard of living. I expect Trudeau will do nothing to tackle the rise of inflation and instead will continue with the politically correct nonsense and the endless selfies. He doesn't have a real plan , he's just an actor. -
Conservative Leadership September 10th
ironstone replied to Jack9000's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I think this country has moved pretty far to the left and most political parties are to the left. With the Conservatives it depends on who the leader is as to where they are on the political spectrum. Harper was a bit to the right and O'Toole wasn't much different from Trudeau. Maxime Bernier is on the right of the spectrum. If Poilievre want's to scrap the carbon tax and use our vast oil and gas reserves that is very pragmatic. Virtually nothing in the Liberal agenda is good for the country and the same can be said of the NDP. The Liberals are too concerned about pushing the idiotic woke agenda down our throats. Sensitivity training, anti-racism this or that, dozens of genders and counting...the list goes on and on. -

Russia invades Ukraine. The Ukraine government is distributing guns to it's citizens. This is a perfect example of why the right to bear arms is important. Ukraine/Russia War Reveals Liberal Hypocrisy Kira Rudik[i] is the former CEO of Ring Ukraine. She is now a Ukrainian Member of Parliament. On February 26th, Gerald Butts tweeted the following about this impressive CEO-turned-civilian defence-trainer in Ukraine as the Ukrainian government distributed over 25,000 automatic rifles and 10 million rounds of ammunition to civilians in Kiev alone:[ii] @kiraincongress was COO for home security tech startup that Amazon bought for a billion dollars. She could be on a beach anywhere in the world. Instead she’s learning how to use a weapon in Kiev. Amazing.[iii] Butts says “guns are a menace”[iv] and “A Liberal vote is a vote for stronger gun control laws”[v] yet this week he openly calls arming Ukrainian civilians with automatic weapons “Awesome.” That’s quite a flip-flop from his position here at home, where he’s 100% in favour of confiscating semi-automatic sporting rifles from ordinary Canadians who’ve passed every background check imaginable. Gerald Butts’ hypocrisy is not lost on us, but it most assuredly is on him. Canadians have a long history of proficiency with firearms. It’s no accident that Canadian troops in both World Wars were commended on their shooting ability. They were avid hunters and shooters who learned their skills from their fathers and grandfathers. This firearms proficiency was fully supported by our government-run schools. Up until the 1960s, most schools had shooting ranges in their basements and many kids brought their firearms to school to train. If Gerald Butts and his pal, the Prime Minister, took his Ukrainian position here in Canada and, instead of “hating guns” they hated violent criminals (who routinely and repeatedly violate Firearm Prohibition Orders instead), we could make serious inroads on the drug dealer and gang violence problems faced by our major cities.[vi] As for Ukraine, on February 23rd, its Parliament voted to immediately give civilians permission to carry firearms.[vii] "The adoption of this law is fully in the interests of the state and society," the authors of the draft law said in a note, adding that the law was needed due to "existing threats and dangers for the citizens of Ukraine". Most Ukrainians – boys and girls – learn how to shoot at school. About 400,000 people are estimated to have combat experience, following Vladimir Putin’s 2014 annexation of Crimea and the Moscow-supported armed uprising in the east.[viii] -
Would the Ukrainians Want to come to Canada?

I personally wouldn't call Trudeau a dictator just yet but what does it say about the man when he publicly states his ADMIRATION for the Chinese dictatorship? The Trudeau family has had a long standing love affair with at least two notable dictatorships that we know of, China and Cuba. What does that tell you about Trudeau's moral compass? -

Why did Putin invade Ukraine now? Why did he annex Crimea when he did? It's not just me, the Putins of the world get emboldened when there is a weakling in the White House. I wish none of this was happening and I hope it ends soon in Ukraines favor but it's wishful thinking. Putin is certainly taking full advantage of Biden while he can. The scary part is all the bad players in the world may have 3 years to run amok . -

I'm not wealthy by any stretch but one thing I do share with corporate leaders is that I want my tax level to be lower not higher. I don't actually blame the super wealthy people that use tax loopholes or tax havens, I would do the same thing if I were in their shoes. It might also be argued that if tax rates are the same globally then it will lessen competition. I know this issue is extremely complicated with endless different takes on it. I think some of the billionaires and millionaires are quite leftist in the sense that they enjoy the fruits of capitalism to the extreme but want the rest of us confined by rules that won't apply to them. I do make a distinction between someone like Elon Musk who is a brilliant man and job creator compared to Justin Trudeau or a George Soros.

For me personally, it's more about who is promoting the specific ideas behind any great reset. I have no control over what happens in other countries and virtually no say in what happens in my own country beyond my right to vote. I am very nervous when most of the people behind the great reset idea seem to be very leftist. I would rather not have my cost of living go through the roof, I do not want to lose the right to voice my opinion even if some disagree with me. It's only my own opinion but I think some policy initiatives make sense while others do not. The US and Canada both have very high levels of immigration, many of them don't speak English or are unskilled. This makes no sense to me. Bringing in English speaking people with skills no matter where they come from makes much more sense. The push to end the use of oil and gas is happening too quickly while the infrastructure(electricity grid) is decades away from being ready. Doesn't make sense to me either. In a nutshell, my fear is that most of the people behind the great reset idea are far left types and not of the common sense variety. The right does not have a monopoly on common sense either. They overspend way too much just like their counterparts on the left but overall are the least offensive choice at the moment.

I do think that's possible but I hate the fact that it may come to this here in 2022 with what will mean huge losses in lives. Things have changed in Russia in that there are actually some protests against the invasion of Ukraine. The Russian military is probably better equipped than it's ever been but if they are taking heavy casualties it reminds me of their war with Nazi Germany. The Red Army always seemed to take huge casualties no matter if they were in retreat or advancing. Back then the leadership simply didn't care about the lives of their own soldiers, only defeat of the enemy at any cost. Is the Russian military mindset still like that today? There are some contributors in here well versed in military matters, what do you guys think? -

In the last few days I've heard many different takes on the sanctions. One pundit suggested really going after certain oligarchs that actually hold Putin's billions which would hit Putin where it hurts him personally. Putin doesn't care in the least about anyone, even his own citizens. Another suggestion, probably more realistic is that the West really cares more about being seen to push back against Russia more than actual severe sanctions. More like a bluff. A FOX news contributor said that so far, the fighting more or less stops at night because the Russian military doesn't have the ability to fight at night. I find this hard to believe as they seem pretty well equipped. I'm not sure about Russian losses so far but I've heard some fair numbers which may or may not be true. -
The above certainly sounds like one world government run by the elites. Well kind of the same thing that's happening now but just with powerful elites that don't uniformly agree on everything. The Great Reset agenda would have three main components. The first would steer the market toward fairer outcomes. To this end, governments should improve co-ordination (for example, in tax, regulatory and fiscal policy), upgrade trade arrangements and create the conditions for a “stakeholder economy.” At a time of diminishing tax bases and soaring public debt, governments have a powerful incentive to pursue such action. Moreover, governments should implement long-overdue reforms that promote more equitable outcomes. Depending on the country, these may include changes to wealth taxes, the withdrawal of fossil-fuel subsidies and new rules governing intellectual property, trade and competition. The second component of a Great Reset agenda would ensure that investments advance shared goals, such as equality and sustainability. Here, the large-scale spending programs that many governments are implementing represent a major opportunity for progress. The European Commission, for one, has unveiled plans for a €750-billion (C$1.14-trillion) recovery fund. The U.S., China and Japan also have ambitious economic-stimulus plans. There you have it, fairer outcomes, more equitable outcomes etc. Not equal opportunity, equal outcomes. Sounds like the Green New Deal to me. It seems like we're already seeing the kind of results from this line of thinking, soaring inflation which is hurting the most vulnerable, the poor and middle class. I don't know why anyone would think this is wonderful. Michelle should have sent that email to the spam folder.

Opinion: It’s time for a massive reset of capitalism - The Globe and Mail So the actual founder in his own words wants a "massive reset of capitalism" and it's time for the "great reset". To achieve a better outcome, the world must act jointly and swiftly to revamp all aspects of our societies and economies, from education to social contracts and working conditions. Every country, from the United States to China, must participate, and every industry, from oil and gas to tech, must be transformed. In short, we need a “Great Reset” of capitalism.

So overrepresentation means something to you and so does underrepresentation. Would it be some kind of woke utopia if every identifiable ethnic group was perfectly represented in leadership position, but no more or no less? That seems kind of idiotic. How about just putting the best qualified people in positions of power, regardless of race? Slavery was one of the worst things ever to happen in the history of mankind and we can't undo the past. You're also likely unaware that blacks were not the only one's ever to be enslaved. I wish I could be more optimistic about getting rid of Trudeau but I'm not. Even with a dismal record he still wins a minority and nothing sticks to the guy. The Liberals are going full on socialist and woke and not enough people seem to care. -

I know I'm dreaming but how about just human history? History of countries, warts and all. In the US it seems they only want to teach the bad things that happened in that country and there were too many blemishes. On the other side, the positive things don't seem to get the same exposure. The US did have slavery at one time, but the US also ended slavery and that change came from within. History can't be forgotten but life does go on. Why are asians doing even better than whites in many respects? I'm a white guy and when I hear that statistic I don't feel oppressed . Culture plays a big role in this in my opinion. In a stunning admission for a government official, Canadian Justice Minister David Lametti admitted the political motivations for seizing bank accounts during a television appearance today. Minister Lametti told CTV News today, citizens identified as supporting President Donald Trump are subject to “de-banking” as part of the Canadian government’s official target identification process. During the segment, Justice Minister Lametti hedged and dodged questioning about what terms and conditions the Canadian government is using to instruct the RCMP and financial institutions. However, after equating the Trudeau order to the same principles around terrorism, the ‘Justice Minister’ finally said: ...”If you are a member of a pro Trump movement who is donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to this kind of thing, then you ought to be worried.”

This civil disobedience, which did go too far in some ways, is now the Liberals version of January 6th. We are going to be continually reminded of it for a long time to come. The whole thing likely could have been resolved much sooner if we had a Prime Minister that is willing to listen. He is not willing to listen, only lecture from his ivory tower. He want's this as part of his legacy as in replicating Pierre's " go on and bleed" comment. And he's calling out Putin for being authoritarian.

I just emailed my Liberal MP to ask about it. Whether it applies to everyone that donated or not. Is there a limit on the amount of money donated that will be targeted . In his last response to me he or one of his army of staffers stated that his office is totally swamped with inquiries at this time. Usually I get a response in about a week or so, last time it took almost a month.

Financial institutions have started freezing protesters’ bank accounts based on RCMP information, Chrystia Freeland says - The Globe and Mail It's right there in the headline, freezing protesters bank accounts, Chrystia Freeland says. That's from two Liberal sources, the Globe and Mail and Chrystia Freeland. If you don't believe it even when Freeland herself says it then it's impossible to prove it to you. How many it has happened to so far I have no idea yet.
