  1. Betsy, I agree. You understand life.
  2. To understand Canadian politics, read John Crosbie's autobiography: No Holds Barred. In 1971, Crosbie and Moores were facing Smallwood. One seat divided them - a guy from Labrador.
  3. Like Clark in 1979, Carney seems to think that he has a majority. Let's see.
  4. Weird choices. I reckon that Carney wants to run his own ship. ===== Let's see what Champagne does. I suspect that he's a 'yes-man'.
  5. Agreed. ===== I am sure that Dion and Ignatieff are wondering how Carney did it. Surely the federal Liberal campaign staff feel proud.
  6. How milk is produced has everything to do with supply management. It requires many female cows - and a few males (bulls).
  7. I tend to agree. ==== 1759? Disagree. In 1763, there were two treaties: The Treaty of Hubertusburg - far more important at the time - it decided Saxony. The Treaty of Fontainebleau - important now to us in Canada.
  8. Open your wallet. Take out a blue five of Laurier or a green twenty of the Queen. Look carefully at the name who signed as Governor. It is likely the name of M. Carney (that's how he signed it at the time). ==== We now have a PM who signed our money - and worked at GoldmanSachs. ========== Pierre Trudeau warned against the concentration of power. IMV, as individuals, our best protection is a federal system: sovereign states within a federal constitution.
  9. Many Anglo Central Canadians view as you do. I disagree. IMV, Trump is wily like a fox. Carney is a typical ambitious bureaucrat. ===== Let's see how this plays out.
  10. True. I am a foreigner - my father was not born a Canadian.
  11. Disagree. By historic standards, we Canadians crossed lines and voted Catholic/Protestant. Laurier's English was not perfect - but Anglos voted for him. In America, Catholics view themselves as a minority. JD Vance is now Catholic.
  12. Army Guy knows more about this than I do ====== I prefer a world where world powers (politicians) get along.
  13. I met Charles - large nose. (I also met Chirac, a smoker.) ==== I'm surprised about Carney's obsession with the British sovereignety. Harper is surely jealous.
  14. Foreigners lend money to Hydro-Quebec at low rates because they expect it will pay in the future. Then, Hydro-Quebec gives the money to the Caisse. The Caisse invests the same money with foreigners at higher rates - because the Caisse people are supposedly smart.
  15. Trump certainly understands this. ===== H-Q borrows at low rates, it borrows a lot of money. Then, Quebec creates a Caisse. It saves/invests the same money at higher rates. Leverage.
  16. And then I would explain the life of a female cow - until she's about 8. ==== Margaret Atwood - a writer with no style - wrote a popular novel based on such an idea.
  17. Supply management. Quotas? Government subsidies? Gimme a break. ===== If I opposed Canada's "supply management" system, I would describe what happens to male cows: bulls.
  18. I have been reading about drones, and submarines. ===== Before 1914, we had a civilised world. It is not worth looking at the Treaty of Versailles. Irrelevant. The world changed between 1914-1945. Cataclysm. By 1945, we once again had peace.
  19. But Carney's wife? Where is she from? New Zealand? I heard that she's well connected in England. ==== Carney married up.
  20. I agree. Carney has several passports. (In my life, I have travelled and lived abroad. I married different foreigners, I could have had foreign citizenship. I always refused.) Like Pierre Trudeau, my country is Canada. ==== Carney is a fake. He's here for ambition.
  21. Uh, no. The Canadian system is ordinary people across Canada pay zillions of dollars to a few guys in Quebec. ====== About 50% of Canada's milk is produced in Quebec. While on a flight abroad, I chatted with a Quebec dairy farmer. (It's all about sperm, calfing, female cows. They can produce milk for about 8 years.)
