  1. I entirely agree, Moonbox. ==== But since men die young, I generally suggest them to take CPP early. Women? Who are they saving for?
  2. I was surprised to learn that he had died. Recently. He smoked a pipe. Parizeau and Lévesque smoked incessantly. Morin was born in 1929. Trudeau Snr in 1919. These guys were all a product of the collège classique. ===== I never met Morin in person. I recall meeting Jean Marchand in a parking lot in Ste-Foy. Jean Chrétien, I met several times.
  3. Canada? As I have often thought, if Canada joined the US, Toronto would just be another Detroit. But Vancouver, Calgary/Edmonton would be different Montreal? The Big Easy North.
  4. In Montreal, the gasoline price is over $2/litre. We sell electricity at 0.02 per kwh locally while the foreign price in Boston is 0.16 per kwh. Heck, we buy the electricity from Newfoundland at 0.005 per kwh.
  5. Huh? I was not born in August 1991. ==== Quebec had two referendums (votes) on its participation in Canada. Albertans (Canadians) have no idea what will happen next.
  6. Red in Ottawa, Blue in Quebec. Off island Quebecers have a practical Norman sense. They will not vote for the PLQ - despite the change to Milliard - what a name! ==== I have not done the 125 riding numbers. IMHO, Fréchette does not change anything.
  7. Herbie, how long did she wait for the first scan? Our current health system is based on triage. But such a system can be gamed. ====== Heck, maybe Saskatchewan is a high trust society (like Tommy Douglas). Canada is no longer such.
  8. === Andrew Coyne, another person who just does not get it.
  9. https://www.economist.com/international/2026/05/05/america-must-hope-donald-trump-is-not-a-new-caligula Leftist Trump Derangement Syndrome goes into overdrive. ===== The Devil? I recall Venezuela's president smelling the podium at the UN after Bush Jnr.
  10. My money? Think real. Delivery Van. I ask you: where would you put a delivery van, motorcycle dropped from a rich Uncle: America, Ecuador, Russia? Canada? Germany? In Ecuader, Russia: Stolen. Canada, Germany? Too many regulations. America? My delivery van will generate profits, and the van will not be stolen.
  11. Barbara Huston is a classic example. Morality is based on poverty.
  12. Pour l'instant. On va voir.
  13. Référendum en Alberta ? Franchement, personne n'en parle au Québec.
  14. I have been to Poland. Google: Shoah, Claude Lanzmann.
  15. Nationalism? Putin, typical Russian, is protecting himself in a Kremlin. Russians will eat grass. Like Bulgarians, they survived. Zelenskyy is playing the Ukrainian nationalist card.
  16. Agree. TV was new. Like Instagram nowadays.
  17. During the Cold War, Trudeau Snr the federalist discussed a "contractual link".
  18. Herbie, What is the cost of an MRI in the US? === Gemini: MRI scans in the USA typically cost between $400 and $12,000, with an average of about $1,325 to $2,600, depending on the body part, facility type, and insurance coverage. Freestanding imaging centers are significantly cheaper ($650 avg.)
  19. Pierre Trudeau understood this well. He once asked this question: "Would you make the West Island the Danzig of the New World?"
  20. Strongly agree. Very strongly agree. The Seven Years War was about Prussia-Austria. In 1763, there were two Treaties in Europe: one decided the fate of modern Quebec. Since 1867, we Canadians have a federal constitution. Before this, we got along with two religions, two languages.
  21. The meeting room in Potsdam is very different. It is much larger. (I have been there too.) Potsdam is outside of Berlin - near the famous Wannsee Conference, and Frederick's Sans Souci. At the time, summer 1945, Berlin was destroyed. There was no nowhere else to meet. Stalin arrived by train, car. I am surprised that Truman managed to fly in, drive through Berlin's remnants. Churchill was in the midst of an election. It was here in this room that Truman approved both drop, and then passed the note to Stalin's interpreter about the A-bomb. I wonder whether either knew exactly what was happening.
  22. In early 1945, FDR arrived by boat to Malta, then flew to Yalta. Churchill arrived by air - like Hitler, both flew often in the war. Stalin arrived by train. He feared airplanes. === The famous picture of the three sitting is in fact a very small courtyard. Modern rich Americans would describe it as a summer home in Hampstead, on Long Island. I have been there.
  23. How much does a MRI cost in the US? In other provinces, how long do you wait? Can you pay as I did in Quebec?
  24. Canada is a remarkable country of different people. Jean Chretien, Brian Mulroney have kept us together. We get along. This guy Carney? I'm not so sure.
