Best case? ==== Crimea will become part of Russia. Kiev and western Ukraine will be like Belorus. ===== Make no mistake. This is a huge disaster for American diplomacy. Worse:There is the potential of tactical nuclear bombs.

Vice President for Trump

Wow, I was wrong. ===== I reckon that Trump will choose a winner. -Tom Scott -Marco Rubio -
Let me add this. I prefer a world where we freely trade - others prefer a Singapore model.

Lack of money? Paper? The world lacks paper? WTF? ==== The world lacks skilled talent. For each human generation, we must teach so much. No human is born with the ability to write/read. Do math. Take a derivative. We must teach each child calculus. -
Roosters have colourful feathers. They strut Hens don't. Why?

Federal 1861 vs Federal 2024 -No Big Deal?

Well said. I agree. I have two definitions of democracy: 1. You put one coloured ball in a large bowl - and the winner with your colour wins. 2. The power of the State is passed between people who hate each other - without death. -
Perspektiv, Herbie - you miss the point. ==== Putin and Xi (Russia and China) have your number. They both view the world in a different way.

Georgia: America's Quebec
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in State Politics in the United States
In Vermont and Massachusetts, you people speak of New England. In Quebec, we speak of New France. In Georgia, it is people from a different continent managing their affairs. New Africa. -
Are Nfld and Quebec Sustainable?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Iceland has a distinction language. Newfoundlanders have a distinct accent. Both have their own way pf doing things. Both islands have survived for centuries. Civilized people. Sustainable - not growing. Centuries. Why? ===== Iceland has about 300,000 people. Nfld about 600.000. Why this obsession for growth? -
Are Nfld and Quebec Sustainable?

Herbie, In fact, this happens often in Canada. We are a large country with few people. Foreigners come here with hopes. Google Search: Elliott Lake. -
At the federal level, you Americans clearly do not have sufficient revenue for what your federal politicians want to do. -You note military. Good luck. -Welfare? I tend to agree that it should be a State issue but people move around. -Constitution? I think we are at a point where the framers could not perceive the future. ====== The US federal government has a very generous pay-as-you-go social security scheme. Around the world, millions of Americans expect to receive their monthly cheque. The US federal government also has a very generous medicaid scheme. Anyone in America over 65 can choose their doctor, Medicaid pays.

Various parts of various countries frequently disagree. The people in northern North America - despite how different we are, we seem to get along. ==== Quebec has had various separatist parties. In Nfld, I'm sure there's one now. The FLQ was violent. But in general, we get along peacefully. -
Mississippi and Louisiana apparently have larger proportions of black people. But it seems to me that Georgia (with Atlanta) has become the African state in the new world. The colour of one's skin - like a person's height - is different from language or religion.

Lincoln provoked a civil war. Lévesque and Trudeau Snr avoided one. -

CdnFox, 1. The Plains of Abraham? Did you know that the Seven Years War was settled with two treaties. The Treaty of Hubertusburg was the most important. 2. Louis Riel: the original show trial. 3. Trudeau Snr let the kidnappers of Cross fly to Cuba.
