Vice President for Trump
August1991 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I agree. Trump likes winners - and this guy Scott is a winner. -
Let me return to my OP: 1. You Americans have no federal sales tax. IOW, your federal government is not able to impose a sales tax on your citizens. (All economists agree that a VAT is the best way to tax: Tax consumption, not income.). 2. Conscription? The ultimate tax is when men (women?) are forced to serve.

Honest, reason10, I had to go back and look at those Amendments. (18th? Totally agree. Progressives and the damage they can do.) The 16th? I don't get it except that you Americans at the time were opposed to "trusts" - monopoly power. Last point: I agree about "fair share". In a democracy, we should each have something to contribute - or to lose. We should all have a stake in the game.

Michael, Please fork this thread. a) I was surprised to learn that downtown Chicago was a walkable city. b) Children learn in many ways. -
Myata, I suspect that your post was written by AI. Whatever. ==== In summer 1914, Europe was civilised. And then, an elite lead everyone into a disaster that lasted for thirty years. Make no mistake: Future generations will not refer to WWI, the Depression and WWII. They will refer to the period between 1914-1945 as the "Wars". Nowadays, if remembered, the 1789-1815 is known as the "Napoleonic Wars". And the Thirty Years war? When Sweden intervened? Who knows that.

I am tired of hiring these these terms used by the State-paid media. IMHO, these are journalists - like those who worked for Pravda - who defend the status quo.

Clueless. In America. Maybe.

People are people. Indviduals, whatever. As you wish.

I am Canadian. I know Americans - ordinary American people. The USA does not want the destruction of Europe.

Disagree. Levesque favoured a new arrangement. -
Lost Interest in Canadian Federal Politics - 2024

Disagree. People like Pierre Trudeau and Rene Levesque had something original to say. And trust me, both were show-men. -
Putin has no desire to occupy Lemberg. ==== In the 1990s, after the Soviet Union, a Kissinger world was possible.

Russia will make western Ukraine something like Belorus. All of this could have been avoided - so much death and destruction for no reason. And there is the terrible risk of nuclear warheads ==== Negotiate: I ask my government to negotiate. Talk. Seek peace. Stop this death and destruction.

Are Nfld and Quebec Sustainable?
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Independent? What a word. Sustainable is not the same as survival. ==== I'm with Mulroney/Diefenbaker/Trudeau: we get along. -
Are Nfld and Quebec Sustainable?

People on Iceland have a sustainable society. Newfoundland is sustainable. Bulgarians - they too are sustainable. -

Whatever. ==== Make no mistake. Women have given birth, people have managed to live in Iceland and Newfoundland for centuries. -
Lost Interest in Canadian Federal Politics - 2024
August1991 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Disagree. Trudeau Snr was always interesting. Like Levesque, both had a way of saying something new. ====== I wish both were alive to say what they thought about this war in Ukraine-Russia. -

Vice President for Trump
August1991 replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
And is any Democrat politician any different? Is Merrit Garland independent? ===== Around the world, we know that Trump is a fraud. You Americans - de Nero, Redford etc - foolishly believe that Biden is not. -
Vice President for Trump

Rubio poses the problem of state residency. (Trump could move - he's obviously a New Yorker.) If I were Trump, I would choose Scott. But what do I know.
