  1. Millions sorry, typo. Hundreds of millions actually, does that make it any better? Did you read the Gomery inquiry? Everything had to pass through the PMO. This was taken directly from the tax payers pockets. Not everyone respects tax payers...obviously.
  2. Jdobbin, some days you have some insightful things to say but this borders on comedic relief, gimme a break. Elections Canada needs to find proof of any wrong doing and they have yet to do so, they are still just accusations. Everyone seems to forget that. Elections Canada stated today. That every political party has creative accounting practices but "found this move was being a little too creative." In addition the amount in dispute keeps shrinking as well. It was 1.3 mil, then 1.1 mil., now it is $1 mil.
  3. I don't know how they could n't have know as billions of dollars were flowing from the PM's office to Ad companies in Quebec. So either they are lying(GASP) or they are both incompetent. This cannot be denied.
  4. People living or vacationing abroad need to learn to respect the laws of that country. Too many Canadians seem to think that everyone is innocent whenthe exact opposite may be true. No one has seen the evidence against her so I don't get what the problem is. She is going to be transfered to Canada after a 5 business day stay in Mexico for the paperwork to go through.
  5. Stephane Dion was a cabinet minister close to Cretien during AdScam. This cannot be denied. CPC has not shown to have done anything wrong. There are accusations. I forgot, that means guilty right? I also forgot that armchair pundits try everyone through the media dealing with fantasy instead of facts. I doubt anyone on this forum is privy to any of the details to the case so people are speaking from ignorance which is less then reality, surely even the LPC knows this. Tories respect the traditional values of Canadians it is Liberals and further left that want to introduce new values and change things. Conservatives want things to remain as they were socially. I'm sure glad to see that the Liberals don't have any pitbulls though. I guess Dion and others speaking in themedia and in this forum don't qualify as being reactionary...no of course not. Only Tories are bad and do bad. Liberals and their supporters always speak truth...how dare I question the arrogance... EDIT - Further more, in the case of the polls and an election. Wait until Dion starts opening his mouth, his poll numbers will drop. He is the weakest speaker out of the four by far. His words are muddled and he doesn't get his message through. That or he make foolish remarks...like " Do you think it's easy to set priorities?" and other assorted gems. Bring on the election, he'll get wiped out in the polls and in any debate. Also our system is based on seats and not on percentage. He basically has to gain 15 seats and I just don't see that happening sorry.
  6. LIberals aren't interested in that, the truth. You have to remember the in the Liberal pov Canadian values and Liberal values are the same thing and anything that goes against the Liberal Party goes against Canada. This is how these people think so any argument of common sense will have no effect. To reiterate, lets wait to see if EC finds the CPC in default of anything before passing judgment o.k.?
  7. The CPC followed the rules as they interpreted them and the way they were interpreted to them. If EC is going to redefine the rules hopefully they are enforced and applied to every political party identically. All parties move money around so it will be interesting to see if the rules are going to be enforced equally to every party. This issue is before the courts and there hasn't been a decision made as of yet whether or not any rules were indeed broken. It is irresponsible of you to suggest that any party is guilty of anything as this matter is still being looked at by EC. So to recap, the CPC applied the rules as the CPC understood them to exist and the same way the rules were interpreted to them.
  8. Drea, I am shocked. I think we have closet conservative here... 100% agree. I wouldn't want a system like in the USA either. It seems a little to cold. Dr.'s go to school to save peoples lives not turn them away because of bureaucracy. Also if we had a system like this it would attract more doctors that are trained in Canada to stay in Canada and not flee to the USA. In addition it would free up money from the public care system to improve it to a higher standard than we currently enjoy. This is exactly what Ralph Klein was speaking about when he was the premier of Alberta. To have public and private clinics, hospitals working hand in hand with public insurance. Even private insurance can be useful as well. If someone is paying more money per year in premiums than they are entitled to better care, or the ublic insurance could offer more coverage for a monthly premium. It would raise money for the government as well.
  9. It is indeed a left idea but it is a very good one. The right doesn't have a monopoly on good ideas, once in a while the left comes up with a good one too. I think it's great that today is a day to raise awareness of the environment and how to recycle, etc. Everyone should do it. To not recycle is irresponsible and makes no sense to me at all. I think that we have far too many days to celebrate everything but this is one that should stay. Earth Day makes a positive change on people and puts international scrutiny on many multi-national corporations who are the most guilty of trashing our environment. That being said we need a more aggressive environmental program that will not cripple our economy. Whatever can be done should be done as long as it is fiscally responsible I am for it for one. I think that the government needs to do more in the way of the environment to ensure we have places to go that remain forested and more importantly I will continue to have places that I can fish. What do you people think of recycling/conservation and/or Earth Day?
  10. Even Dion would rather see Harper than Smilin' Jack in office I am sure. Canada would be bankrupt within 2 years with the NDP at the helm.
  11. Don't be silly. The Green party will never form a government nor will the NDP. However I think that some GPC members having seats in the Commons would be a good thing. I can't say the same about the NDP. AdScam reaches far and wide all over the LPC. LPC MP's who are from all parts of this country were involved including their current leader Stephane Dion. Which is why they are doing poorly in Quebec and which is why they will lose the next election. The LPC made a huge blunder in electing a man that is unelectable in Dion but it is too late to start again with an election looming. If Dion steps down now Harper would call an election almost immediately and rightly so. This is why the LPC is dying a slow and painful death. Perhaps the LPC will be smart enough to elect someone who has a clean history next time. The LPC needs to start over and retool their policies as many of them are out of touch with the average Canadian. It would also be nice if they stopped portraying that Liberal values are synonymous with Canadian values.
  12. The CPC has the right approach. Ignore Toronto altogether. Nothing makes them more irate. Toronto is like a 2 year old which demands constant attention and whines when it doesn't get it.
  13. Same problem, the unions are too strong. We need to pass legislation to limit the unions' power across the board. The labour unions are the bane of civilized society and need to be dealt with.
  14. Right after they said this he says... "But Mashaal says the group would never formally recognize Israel." http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/World/2008/04/21/5347801-ap.html
  15. Soldier's who have been captured by Islam are often quoted on camera that they are treated well etc. Right before they have are decapitated with a large knife in the name of Islam. You cannot always believe what you read, even it happens to fit into the fantasy that Islam is peaceful.
  16. We used to have quite a few Chinook helicopters. The sad thing is that The Liberal government sold our entire fleet of Chinooks to the Netherlands and never replaced them.
  17. We have a bit of a different situation in the way that we deal with our banks here in Canada as well though so that will better insulate us against a fluctuation in the market like we are seeing now. Not to mention the BoC breaking the rise of the dollar to keep inflation down. I have no doubt that we will feel a pinch but ti will be just that, a pinch. We won't have the housing crisis like the are currently experiencing south of the border where homes are going underwater causing people to walk away from them. It just won't happen. Canada has always been a strong exporter and that will continue to buoy our markets here imho as you have pointed out. Pundits are claiming that the recession will last anywhere from a couple more months to a couple more years by Dr. Doom. I'm sure you've heard much of the same. It has been and will continue to be interesting to watch though.
  18. The TTC needs to be an essential service therefore making strikes illegal. Many of these people are overpaid. $60,000/year to take tickets in a booth? Gimme a break. The unions in this country have way too much power. It's time the government stepped in to limit the power the unions have right now. The TTC has turned into a huge bureaucracy that also need to be slimmed down. A private company would never behave in this manner.
  19. Urban voters are more left leaning than rural voters who tend to vote to the right in most cases. That is what is being said. I don't think that can be disputed since we know it to be true. The LPC needed a break from governing, they were getting arrogant and sloppy and had a feeling that the Canadian taxpayer owed them something, everyone can agree with that. It happens to every government once they've been in power too long. I want sound leadership and a government that will get too work and make progress and right now the CPC is providing that while the LPC gets there ship in order. At least Harper is making decisions and sticking with them, not like Mr. Martin who would flip flop almost daily. Once the CPC is in power for too long I'll be advocating they get booted too if they start showing the same condition of entitlement etc. Every party moves money around in every election just usually not to the degree the CPC has in this instance. This is a witch hunt that will fizzle away. Oh to be fair, the RCMP never raided the offices, Elections Canada did. The RCMP just help serve the warrant. Let's keep it straight ok.
  20. There is no hard and fast rules stating I support the CPC. The Green party is as fiscally responsible as the CPC, many people believe the opposite to be true which is false. They still need to turn those numbers into seats and that will be the tricky part. The liberals are going to loose seats in the next election. More and more votes are going to the Greens and NDP from the LPC and the Conservatives are only getting stronger. Every election they talk about vote splitting, it should be more pronounced in the next election then before. The Greens will even steal a seat from the Liberals in the next election.
  21. I must have forgotten. An apology makes it ok to steal $100,000 in Liberal land I forgot. It can be candy coated in any way and you can play with the words in any way but the facts remain. • Mr. Corbeil received a large amount of money from a company located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in exchange for favours with respect to the purchase of a piece of land owned by the Government of Canada. • Mr. Corbeil conspired to defraud the Liberal Party of Canada of a sum exceeding $100,000 by authorizing payment of false invoices. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/sto...y/National/home
  22. The way Canada implements it is the problem and needs reform not the idea of immigration itself. That's what I am pushing. The number that feel badly about certain aspects of it will continue to grow as the current stand is continued, not shrink.
  23. You have to understand that LPC then were closer to the CPC of today. Since WWII political parties in most of the civilized nations countries started to step to the left until recently they are starting to sway back to the right.
  24. I'm not sure why I bother responding to you but here goes. Why is it that disagreeing with a platform of multiculturism, as it is currently implemented, inherently a racist idea according to you guyser? Those numbers hardly inspire a lot of confidence. 45% of people would be about 18 million people in this country. That is substantial.
  25. ] The LPC is dying a slow and painful prolonged death in this country. They have to try to leap at any opportunity they have but alas it has slipped past them....hopefully the media will cover this. We'll see.
