Ah but Wild Bill, look it's working. We are two people and we are having dialog about the very obvious problems that we all face. I agree with what you say for sure. Politicians are playing politic too much out of fear and not governing enough which is there real purpose. I have never heard of somewhere that doesn't sort recycling, except when I lived in Calgary, that is absolutely absurd. Have you spoken with someone about this? Back when they was talk of more reactors we had all those nuclear paranoia freaks. I am convinced that they are all the same lobbyists that change their hats and move to the next hot issue. The power problem is only going to be compounded in the very near future due to the constantly growing population and expansion. For the record they aren't my crowd, don't say that again. I hate lefties, commies, reds to the degree that I consider running them over in my car. Never mind, I will stick to my right wing conservative rants. I'm not going to painted a leftist scum by anyone...sorry.

Uh i think you have you parties muddled. The Liberals are the arrogant ones who grew fat with their 13 years in power. Who said "We are entitled to our entitlements" -

There is a huge difference. The Tories weren't hiding anything but following what they believed to be creative accounting practices. They thought they were within the rules as they were interpreted to them. The Liberals were hiding something, money and scandal. They knew what they were doing was wrong but defrauded the public coffers anyway and they got caught. -

What the hell is this guy thinking? The Tories are on thin ice in a sort of trial run government and he is pulling this sort of thing. If it turns out to be true of course. He is an experienced politician and knows better. The media is just waiting to pounce on any and every Tory blunder and everyone knows it. They have to be smarter than this. Incredible. -

The only thing I could find was from the last election he took 72.36% of the vote 41,549 votes. He can steal candy from a baby and get re-elected. I guess that's why they call it "Battlefield Ontario" or whatever that slogan the media was using. The BQ will probably never die just go through periods of flux like now, I am guessing. Unless some miracle breakthrough in Ontario it will probably be another minority for Harper. Election in winter 2009 most likely imho. I wonder how many more skeletons will be dragged out of the closet with the Adscam debacle. Seems like it is a nightmare that won't go away for the Liberals. -

Hrm 3% is basically a dead heat. Yeah I knew Dion's seat is Cartierville riding but I thought I'd try to slip it in since the article mentioned it. Everyone is going down in Quebec, those voters are swinging to the Tories. However those voters are very fragile and can swing back at any moment and the Tories need to be careful. Same with the whole province really, one fail slip and those voters will go back to the Liberals imho anyhow. It isn't like out west where the Tories could burn down Calgary city hall and they'd still vote CPC. The Liberal brand is definately damaged in Quebec and that is where the CPC can make the most inroads. peple are sick of the BQ's ineffectiveness and the Liberal constant bungling. -

"But when you drill down inside those numbers, they're awful for (Liberal Leader Stephane) Dion," McDonald said. For francophones, who comprise about 85 per cent of Quebec voters, support breaks down this way: * Bloc: 35 per cent * Tories: 30 per cent * Liberals, NDP: Tied at 15 per cent A key region is Quebec City, the so-called 418 region. The news for the Liberals there is even worse: * Tories: 41 per cent * Bloc: 25 per cent * NDP: 17 per cent * Liberals: 14 per cent "Quebec City is Mr. Dion's home town. He's in fourth place in his home town," McDonald said. "A leader without a base is like a prophet without a homeland." Full Story http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/prin...bhub=PrintStory Yes it would be nice to infiltrate fortress Toronto but it doesn't seem possible without the CPC selling its soul. Hopefully the gain the CPC makes in Quebec will be enough for a majority. Perhaps some seats on the outer edge may be snipable but to take any seats in the core is out of the question so why waste time and money on it. -

Lol, I'll work on that. It's hard being a voice of reason and common sense... I would never do such a thing. it is important to get all of the information before making a decision. -

Obviously. How can people in Jean Chretien's office send hundreds of millions of dollars without even Paul Martin knowing? He was the Finance Minister don't you know. Ontario is an urban union province. The rural areas are mostly blue and will most likely remain that way. The Liberals are behind in Quebec like the CPC is in Ontario, I'll agree to that. However Dion is behind in his own riding now which is quite a development. Yes, yes, yes you're right on the last bit, I just looked it up. I'm not infallible here, only the voice of reason and common sense...hehe. -

Please, lets keep this a nice political discussion based on facts and not on rhetoric. We must keep reasonable dialog open 'punked' and resort to these types of mudslinging attacks which are baseless and fact deficient. -

You're really reaching now...saying the PM is involved in money laundering. Again I hate to keep saying this but they are only allegations and not proven. The opposition getting jumpy over getting soundly beaten is quite routine in the world of politics. This is quite normal for EC to keep an up to date audit on political parties accounting practices. They probably want to know how they did it so the Liberals can use it as well. -

They were involved, they had to know what was going on or else they are too incompetent and not worthy of public office. The LPC will always lead in Ontario I'm sure. However 3 points behind is better than I expected. The Liberals are in fourth place in Quebec. For sure Adscam did the LPC in. No doubt about it agreed. The Adscam results came out during the campaign if I remember correctly and until then the Liberals held a slim lead...correct you are. -

I dislike it when people, well the media started it, call it a scheme. A scheme is not an accurate description of a new accounting practice which is quite resourceful as it turns out. Again these are merely allegations and require proof to be binding... -

Jdobbin, finally you speak based on fact not rhetoric and bias. I agree with you 100% and I am sure this has crossed his mind. They still have to prove these allegations however before people get ready for the stake. -

Quotes by Liberals, whom have zero credibility to speak of due to the AdScam situation so they are discounted immediately and the NDP? The NDP has what $5 to account for every election? -

It isn't published that I know of. They said it today on ctv news. Every party uses creative accounting practices. (I quoted this already in this topic) CPC isn't alone in this. It's called smart accounting by resourceful minds. Again these charges are alleged not proven. There is a huge difference. Please stop speaking as if it is fact, like Gomery/Adscam is fact, it isn't even close to the same thing. -

Every single political party practices in and out accounting during an election. Again these charges are alleged not proven. There is a huge difference. Please stop speaking as if it is fact, like Gomery/Adscam is fact, it isn't even close to the same thing. Let's try to keep this based on factual information not media spin, o.k. ? -

LOL. You dare compare some creative accounting of $1 million dollars to the hundreds of millions of dollars outright stolen through AdScam? Add to the the $2 Billion Gun registry boondoogle....add to that...lol I'll stop there....lol...stop embarrassing yourselves now...please...lol. -
It is touchy feely and I'm probably one of the most conservative people on this board but I find recycling to be a good idea. Taking things that would normally sit in a landfill and break them down and make something else useful from them makes sense to me. Well while Wild Bill is throwing his Mcdonalds wrappers out the window while driving his SUV, I'll sort these bottles and cans. Hehe, seriously though. Here all I need to do is throw my recycles into the recycling bin and thats it, we don't need to sort it here. For every idea no matter hjow sound there is always some quasi-intellectual waiting to disprove you with unbeatable proof. So, Wild Bill you would prefer if we didn't recycle and still used DDT and green house gases...that's your opinion and you're entitled to it.

They are basically unelectable in the province of Quebec, the province with th e second most seats. That leaves it for the CPC and BQ to fight out with CPC already with the most support and rising. They did it to themselves. Implicated or not. The money didn't just float out of the government bank accounts did it. Someone with access had to transfer the funds at some point or another and low level officials do not have access to hundreds of millions of dollars. -

Firstly, don't tread on ther name of a deadman, it doesn't do your credibility any favors. Secondly it wasn't public money like Adscam. This money was from donations for the CPC warchest. And lastly, the liberals are upset because they cannot raise any money compared to the CPC, the LPC is essentially bankrupt. They cannot even afford to run a campaign at this time. -

He said former prime minister Jean Chrétien became preoccupied with increasing the federal government's visibility in Quebec after the federalists' slim referendum victory in Quebec. Two days earlier, a feisty Jean Chrétien had remarked that he and Martin had always "agreed to set aside $50 million a year for expenditures related to national unity." Chrétien said he "regrets any mistakes that might have been made in the course of this program." "When I quit in 2003 after 40 years of serving my country, I thought that I've done my job to the best of my abilities." I also signed Treasury Board submissions to fund national unity initiatives, including sponsorship. Chrétien is fully prepared to defend the establishment of the sponsorship program. As an added bonus... Stéphane Dion, who was appointed intergovernmental affairs minister after the 1995 referendum http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/groupact...quiry.html#feb7 So I'll say it again. Either the PMO's office knew about it and lied or they are incompetent. That much paperwork with that much money attached to it cannot possibly pass through the PMO's office without being noticed...impossible. These people worked directly in the PMO. "He chose to disregard this advice [from Bourgon] and, since he is directly responsible for errors committed by Mr. Pelletier, he must share the blame for the mismanagement that ensued." About the role of Jean Pelletier, Chrétien's chief of staff "Mr. Pelletier, for all practical purposes, assumed the role, functions and the responsibilities of a minister of a department charged with implementing the program." http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/groupaction/gomeryreport_keyquotes.html I'm going to stop there, you've been embarrassed enough for one day. I'll show you mercy. -

Now, you're trying to say that the Sponsership scandal never happened? Pure comedic relief thank you. The scandal has dominated Parliament Hill since 2002 when the Auditor General, Sheila Fraser, recommended the RCMP investigate a $250 million national unity program created by Chretien's government to sponsor sports and cultural events, films, TV series, books, magazines and a host of other projects. The ostensible aim was to combat separatism, but an estimated $100 million went to Liberal-friendly ad agencies, public relations firms and other middlemen who often did not deliver quality work. http://www.ctv.ca/generic/WebSpecials/libe...n_frameset.html
