  1. If anyone knows their website address please post it - I think they are just tired of their US war-mongering administration, and more comfortable with Canada's UN approach to world affairs, etc.
  2. Just watched an interview with the US leader of "The Province of Vermont" I wonder how representative this is of US citizens? Would you welcome Vermont into our Canadian confederation? As I have stated on another thread the roles of US and Canada are starting to change.
  3. Here goes the Euro again: - 1.3359 Did anyone see the closing price of crude oil today?: - 45.49
  4. Try reading the link!
  5. NDP wants probe into Layton's 'breach' Did anyone else watch Question Period today? I was disappointed by the Speaker's behaviour, to say nothing about the boorish rudeness of the Liberals and Conservatives. It seems quite obvious to me that Layton's NDP scored big with the Canadian people this week, which I expect will be reflected in the upcoming opinion polls.
  6. What Bush didn't say in Ottawa Martin got absolutely zilch from Bush. It is time to get a government in power in Canada who is really going to stand up for Canada.
  7. President, not U.S., the real issue Who is PM Martin really going to represent - the Bush regime or Canadians? Good Article although I don't agree with all the author's points.
  8. Just say No to missile defence As the above article states, we need to be focusing on the Arctic Circle before we lose our sovereignty up there. This is a wonderful opportunity for our First Peoples to participate in economic development, which could help to pull them out of their dire economic circumstances. Let's do something that benefits Canada and Canadians for a change.
  9. PM Martin says he doesn't believe in the weaponization of space. Why then are so many Canadians worried that for all intense and purposes, he has already signed on? Quite frankly in spite of the demonization of Canada's military, Canadians are quite capable of looking after our own defence. What Bush is really looking for on this visit is to grab more of Canada's resources, at rock bottom prices - for example, let's keep our eye on our fresh water systems in Canada, as they are in jeopardy from the US.
  10. Gold is now hoofing it as well - 455.10 Silver is now 8.05
  11. August constantly rants against the CBC, Layton, the NDP, and anything else that represents Canada's independence from the US. His constant personall attacks against Layton with nothing of any substance sound like a broken record that keeps playing, and playing, and playing...................... If you are looking for evidence of Layton's effectiveness Tuesday in discussions with President Bush, Powell, & Rice, concerning the first questions, by separate English and French reporters, given to PM Martin's during his press conference, following President's Bush's departure, were about BMD (Ballistic Missle Defence! Now finally, thanks to Jack Layton's efforts, Canada will probably have a thorough debate on what Canada's role in the universe should be. This is a very positive development for Canada.
  12. Gold - 454.20 up Silver is really booting it today - 7.93 Euro - 1.33 up Crude - 47.20 down /1073
  13. Bush not aware of polls showing unpopularity in Canada If Bush is that unaware of his unpopularity, then Layton did Canada, the US, and Bush a favour by speaking out against missle defence with the President. Layton proably scored political gains amongst Canadians with his efforts in his conversations with President Bush, Colin Powell, and Ms Rice on Tuesday, as his concerns represented the views of a large number of Canadians. PM Martin & the PMO, who had hoped to slide missle defence under the table past Canadians, lost control of the agenda and it showed.
  14. Wrong - what Layton said is what most Canadians want, so it is imperative for Bush to hear it.
  15. Most Canadians oppose Canada getting involved in missle defence. Bush needed to hear it loud & clear. PM Martin little games of deceiving the Canadian people is beginning to backfire on him!
  16. NDPic.......you are onto something. Too many adults just think about getting laid, and not about the consequences of having a child. It means putting your own life on the back burner for 20 years. We need to start looking at this issue.
  17. Missile pitch stuns Martin `Lefty' Layton trades jabs with president At least Layton has the cahones to stand up and tell US President Bush what Canadians really think rather than our Canadian sycophants Martin & Harper!
  18. It is interesting to see how Canada and the US are switching roles as we progress into the 21 century. The US used be the shining example for the other countries on the planet for exciting new ideas, people who stood up and challenged their government, exhibiting no deference to authority. Now US citizens go placidly along with their governments, allowing them to shut down the freedom of the press, and feebly protest, if at all, when they disagree. Canadian people on the other hand, are becoming more and more independent, challenging their governing elites at every opportunity. A good analogy is the circus. Look at what Canada has done in the circus field (Eg. Cirque du Soleil, etc.) versus Barnum and Bailey. It is very sad to see such a decline in our US cousin's society.
  19. Bush convicted of war crimes in mock trial Check out the pic! I agree he does have a sense of humour, but it looks like he may need more than that in Halifax!
  20. Why did Tommy Douglas win? I think there is a message here for all Canadian governments, and they ignore it at their peril. Canadians want our medicare system fixed, and they want all our governments to get on with it.
  21. In other words more per capita move to Canada than move to the US, which is not surprising considering our different value sytems!
  22. Burton was often shy, and if you can believe it, and also a big boy scout supporter. I wonder what he thought about the "God' issue which has basically destroyed the boy scout organization in Canada. He wrote 50 books! Is that a Canadian virtue? - shyness!
  23. Mike Pearson represented a lot of Canadian values, however health care has a higher priority than a flag. I think Canadians respect and value substance over fluff (no reflection on Pearson btw), as he was a man of substance as well - the Nobel Peace Prize.
  24. It is obviously in overweight people's interest to lose weight. It's hard to do though when you sit on the couch and watch food filled ads on TV every nite, eh!
